I love hand quilting. Bought a quilting machine but I haven't mastered it. My best quilts will always be handquilted. Omg!!! I quilt both ends of the thread too and haven't seen anyone else do it!
Hello, Joe! This takes me back to the 60s, when there was always at least 1 quilt set in a frame in our church basement in our little community in what is now part of northwest Toronto ON 🇨🇦. There were always a few ladies quilting and rolling the quilt. I hand quilted all of my quilts-all as gifts-until a few years ago. I’ve recently purchased a gently used Sashiko 2-for a quarter of the original price-and I’m working on finishing a stack of flimsies. To balance this switch to machine quilting, I’m also taking a course in traditional Sashiko. I learned of your channel from Kate @The Last Homely House, who was using a facing to finish her advent calendar quilt. I’m going to use this technique on my upcoming ‘Wind Drifter’ pattern by Robin Pickens. It will be a modern quilt of flying geese on a dark field. The facing technique with be the perfect finish! I’ve just subscribed to your channel, and I’m looking forward to watching your past and future videos. Thank you, and Stay well, Muskoka ON 🇨🇦
@@Joethequilter hola! Got my Quilters Select Wool in the mail the other day. Love the way it feels and how easy the needle goes through it. The description of what I received was “Quilters Select Soft Wool Batting”. Is this what you use? It’s very thin. Thanks!

Have you considered a finger based flat thimble like they use in sashiko stitching? Also..haven't tried a shashiko needle...it should be as strong!?
Actually, I love the thimble I use, so have never bothered trying to get used to another kind. I think Sashiko needles are strong, yes.
EXCELLENT demo!!! What batting do you usually use?
Quilters Select wool batting.The best.
@@Joethequilter I found this batting at a place in TN. Where do u get your batting?
@@vwatts8738 I get to order it wholesale from Quilters Select.
