Canyoning in Italy - Rio Frondizzon, Tolmezzo, Udine, Friuli

- A beautiful canyon located a few kilometers north of Tolmezzo. The flow of the river is regulated by the power plant, and many warning signs of sudden floods are placed all over the ascent. The Rio Frondizzon offers a very nice variety in a relatively short period of time. A 35 m rappel starts the canyon off nicely, followed by some narrower sections, and some small to medium (up to roughly 10 m) jumps. The first section of the ascent through the tunnels adds a nice touch, just make sure to bring a light source. The upper part of the ascent is marked, but nonetheless it is quite easy to lose your way here (and it is very very slippery when wet / moist).
Parking: 46°25'56.0"N 13°02'15.6"E
Ascent: Follow the road towards the Power Plant and follow the path next to the pipe and through the tunnels until you reach a small lake. Follow the path to the left of the lake and search for a white sign with a blue dot just before you reach a small bridge. Follow these signs uphill to the ridge, traverse to the North-East, and follow the signs down to the riverbed. (40-60 min)
Descent: In general a very easy canyon, although, as always, the difficulty increases with rising water levels. (2 - 3 hours)
The way back: the canyon ends right where you started at the power plant where you parked the car.
Max abseil: 35 m (a very precise 35 m from the main anchor, if you take one further back you need more rope)
Anchors are very good (Spring 2022)

haha probably, yes, it is pretty deep there! But I am nowhere near brave enough to do it from the top, maybe if I were to rappel halfway down, but even then, it's pretty high :) Let me know if you do it though, would want to see the video! :D
