  • Опубліковано 10 лис 2022
  • Lennette was molested by her father 20 years ago. Even more shocking was that the father claims that her mother, Andrea, gave him permission to sexually abuse their daughter! Both parents did time, but Andrea has maintained her innocence.

Did the mother really say “I feel like *i am* the victim” ?! When you fail to protect your children and choose not to believe them when they tell you they’re being assaulted… you’re basically as guilty as the man that touched her in my eyes. Absolutely pathetic.

It’s not going the way I’ll like it to go, my brother passed away, I had to go to his building to check on him. The inspector and exterminator - Pest Control - came out to his apartment Friday morning and found him not responding, so they called the doctor and they examined him and said he was deceased, to call the funeral home. There were a police report made out.
The office manager called me this morning , it’s regarding your brother, and told me that I need to come by the building, I asked her is he passed and she said yes, so she sent an patrol to pick me up I am waiting in his apartment until AR Leak pick up his body. I believe My brother suffered real bAd.
The exterminator came out to exterminate the apartment, when they entered the apartment, he wasn’t responding, so they call the doctor to examine him and was told to have his body sent to a funeral home.
I am just feeling sorry for my brother, he had to be really sick and mentally sick, he had no food in his refrigerator, and had no bottled water in this bad weather, I believe he couldn’t manage his funds - people was taking his money or he was giving his money away to meaningless people that meant nothing to him and I saw a note in his belongings that said he paid his Rent too late - and he had nothing comfortable to sit down on but two kitchen chairs and that was the first time I entered that apartment, he pushed me away since January 2005. I offered to go to his doctor’s, doctors’ clinics appointments with him, shopping with him and helping him, but I guess he was so bad off mentally he just pushed me away.
He told me in May 2009 that he had three head injuries. Our parents were not watching their children but always in those relatives’ business and I believe they were mentally ill too..

Turning a blind eye is also giving permission and enables the abuse. My mum knew that my Dad was sexually abusing me. from the age of 9 to 13yrs old. I was the only one he wanted to take out of my siblings when he was going to leave my Mum when I was 10 years old. Every Friday and Saturday night during that timeframe he would come into the room I shared with my younger Sister at Midnight, wake me up, made me put on my coat-I had to stay in my nightdress and put on my shoes) and take me out of the house to my Mum's Mother house where he had a room to sexually abuse me. This was on top of him coming into the bathroom Monday- Friday (it was opposite their bedroom) when I had my evening wash to assault me. My Mum could clearly see him coming in and out of the bathroom when I was in there. In the end it was only after a children's charity came to my school (1989) and I finally had a name for what my Father was doing, I told someone when I was 13years old. I ended up in care. The consequence for me speaking out was that I was ostricised and rejected by my family.
I suffered for twenty-five years of my life with depression and many other problems but Jesus saved me. What was meant for bad has been turn to good. I wrote about a book about my story a decade ago, set up a non profit 11 years ago to provide peer empowerment to other survivors, and I have done a TEDx talk on empowering survivors besides other things. I never got justice for what he did but I know God has not forgotten. Even though I don't have a relationship with my parents I forgive them.
Sexual abuse in the black community is often ignored and I knew first the enablement, shaming and blaming that goes on. Denial by those around the perpetrator os often a major cause of it. II have been rasing awareness of this issue for years but I belive there is still a long way to go. I hope Lanette gets all the support and helps she needs to deal with trauma and pain she has experienced.

I’m imagining her as a little girl and what that must have been like - to know what your own father is doing is wrong. How afraid she must have been, and how nervous she had to feel before telling her mother. Then, to be called a liar. What does that do to a child? How do you recover from that? Sprinkle in a little police chase, both parents in prison, and a long stint in a juvenile facility when she’s entirely innocent. Victimization after victimization. I’m shocked at how much warmth and wisdom she radiates in spite of it all, and I hope she surrounds herself with people who love her and protect her.

My heart goes out to the survivor. I’m an incestual sexual abuse survivor, myself, and my perpetrator was my father, also. I’m so glad she was able to get some closure and hopefully she is able to heal. I never told anyone about what my dad was doing to me and my mother married my father and willingly conceived me with him in the hopes that I’d be born a girl and she KNEW he had been tried and convicted of indecency with a minor. I fear if I’d have told my mother what my father was doing to me that she’d have felt the same way as the mother in this story, “He swore he’d never do that again!”, “Are you sure he wasn’t just being affectionate?”, “Are you just mad at him for something and trying to get him in trouble for something he didn’t do?”
My mom passed away in 2010 and I never told her what happened to me as a child. I was molested and nearly raped by her nephew/my cousin and even though she had me examined by my pediatrician and did go to the police she decided that instead of getting justice for me that my cousin could just get some counseling and all would be right with the world. I wasn’t protected then and I doubt she would have pursued prosecution of my father if she knew what he’d done and how long he’d been doing it. I’ll never know for certain.

@@suzannerust8658 It’s a struggle but I -AM- healing. I have a loving partner and an amazing therapist so I have a great support system. I’m just glad that Steve did an episode about this. All too often people aren’t opposed to someone speaking about being sexually abused/assaulted but when they explain that their perpetrator was a relative, let alone their biological father, suddenly people don’t want to hear about it and there’s unspoken shaming that happens. Survivors don’t get to choose their perpetrators, but the topic makes people uncomfy. I actually live in terror of certain people (like my in-Laws) finding out about what happened to me because I don’t want them convincing my partner not to be with me or if we get to fulfill our dream of fostering-to-adopt a kid I don’t want there to be people putting it in my partner’s head that I’m going to hurt our child because my father was my perpetrator. Thankfully my partner knows quite well that I’d never in a trillion years do such a thing because I know, firsthand, the mental and emotional anguish that causes. We’ve already had one foster child for a short time (he was returned to his parents) and I was nothing but motherly to him. People just have weird ideas sometimes like incestual abuse survivors automatically becoming perpetrators themselves. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m also queer identified which only makes matters worse. I just walk with my head held high and know it’s not my shame to bear.

I watched my baby change drastically, and I’ve blamed myself. I have no support from my family, the abuser he’s getting all the support while my daughter and I are basically being ignored. I’ve chosen to give it to God, it was the best choice ever. We had an out of body experience, I had to deliver my baby from this violating spirit that has been talking to her at night. IT WAS WORK!! BUT OUR FATHER WORKED HARDER!! The devil has been working HARD since we delivered her, he’s been coming for me. He thought he had my baby and he’s upset I’ve played a part in helping her. You can never be too careful. I am a single mother and have been for 5 years, My child was under 3 years old when my ex left. He would not have been able to voice to me in a manner that he understood most likely if I ever had someone in our lives Who abused him. For many reasons I stayed single, but that was one of them. There was no need. That is a lot of trust to put into another human being. People call me over protective, I call them under protective and careless. These are babies and children's minds and souls at stake. We are the guardians. God gave us these gifts to protect with our lives.
