M25 Motorway (complete lap at actual speed)

- On one morning, I hired someone to drive one complete lap of the M25 motorway for me, while I filmed the whole thing in one go, at real speed. For sake of completeness, we started at Mar Dyke and finished in Dartford, therefore the video features the QEII Bridge twice.
I think this is the first time someone has done this kind of video on UA-cam. Many people have filmed complete laps of the M25 motorway before, but they were either timelapses or in sections: while definitely advanced for the time, cameras have advanced to a point where these kind of videos are now possible.
If you want to do this yourself, do not use an iPhone: the optical image stabilisation does not react well to vibrations from the car, and magnets will not fix the problem.
This video was inspired by the timelapse done by JenOnTheMove on 17 August 2020 ( • M25 London Orbital | D... ). The technical specifications between the videos are generally the same (1920 × 1080 pixels, at about 60 frames per second).
This is brilliant. I love the M25
Thanks! Good to see the UK since 1963 as did not have the motorway then!
great video and with a speedo would look mint, i have 2 videos of my own and watching this is brilliant, just love motorway driving much better through the night
You know, I dream (and am scared) of doing that! Thank you for the video! One of these days I will do it, with the insurance print out and a litre of coffee!
Thank you for this of course so then too-well done also!
How do you load such a long video in one go? My go pro only loads up in 17 min chunks!?

GoPro splits the videos into segments to reduce the impact of a disrupted recording, as well as for compatibility reasons. However, no frames are lost and you can join them back together seamlessly with decent video editing software like Magix (ex Sony) Vegas Pro.
@@mini_ika_musume is there a good free software that does it?
Kdenlive? Shotcut? I'm basically just reading off AlternativeTo because I am a Premiere Pro/Vegas veteran (albeit not an expert just to be clear).
J15 to J16. From M4 to M40. The small bit I touch in M25. It will be a pain or pleasure situation in that bit of M25.
Daily I used to drive to Gaydon. M40 is kinda autobahn. But M25 being smart motorway I was very careful to maintain smart speed limits. Good memories. Gone or those days where I could do 150+ miles a day burning my ass. Now can’t imagine doing it daily.
The M40 is great. No speed cameras and normally quiet so you can go as fast as you like.
Love the original Philips SOX lighting at 1:58!
The good old lights. There’s loads of them on the A1(M) near Hatfield area and junction 23 on the M1
Acutally that is exactly what i was looking for
Same man, same
Great vid! Please make more!!
Excellent video. I try to go out earlier to avoid traffic and speed limits. Will try an M25 lap but probably on timelapse :)
Smart sections will catch u out
I 100% agree that "smart" motorways are a disaster. I know the Americans may be shocked at the following, but I am a motorway street light collector who believes in the expansion of good quality railway, subway and cycling infrastructure, to make driving less stressful for those who need to, like lorry drivers. Cheers for the ride... I am a passenger
what car is this ?
I am guessing this is post covid, pre-covid you couldn't get round in under 2 hours on a weekday daytime.
Love this! Can I ask what car this is? Thanks!
I think I might have forgotten the model. Sorry!
I am planning to do the same but full clockwise and then later anticlockwise
I guess it may have been 80 mph.
can you hastag the licence plates please? people do not like it.
Sorry for the delay (comments are queued only to prevent adult spam): it is an understandable concern, but I don't know how incidental appearances of licence plates would be enough to trace the driver.
It does not appear that many "Slow TV" dashcam UA-camrs actively blur licence plates: @JenOnTheMove doesn't seem to do it (according to ua-cam.com/video/i5Cik4l9lzQ/v-deo.html ).
However, I accept that it would definitely become a problem when videos show road rage, which I know to be particularly endemic in Russia.
Were you going anti clockwise or clockwise? Glad you did not slip over the central reservation(:
I think she was going clockwise she started from Junction 30
Your car makes some strange sounds; might want to get that checked out
The car that was used was fine: the microphone was secured under the bonnet in order to reduce wind noise. That may be why the car sounded like a 4x4 or something. At some point I need to fix the FAQs.
You shouldn't have edited out all the speeding tickets you got along the way.
As @Brian said a little earlier, that's how the vast majority of people drive on the motorways in real life. Also, I was a passenger.
what car do you drive 🚗
12:45
Does this car have any more than 3 gears by the sound of it 😂
That's because I put the microphone in the bonnet, to deter wind noise.

Need to learn how to use the lanes correctly
I will ask the driver in any future dashcam project.
52:41 there’s an airplane! (Am I the only one who noticed it?)
no I saw it to
Um...slow down!
I understand, but since I was a passenger I had no control over my driver. Again, if I were to do another motorway I will encourage whatever driver I get to slow down.
lol you're the sort of person to do 60 in the outside lane and whinge about people undertaking you
@@cryoraptora303tm2 😂😂
Nice video, but the phrase keep left except when overtaking is obviously lost on you. It doesn't mean keep left except when you think there may be a lorry to overtake 4 miles ahead. You're in lanes 3 or 4 for most of the video with the lane(s) to the left almost always empty!!!
Hello, I will encourage my driver to do so next time: I have also updated the description to clarify that I did not do the driving.
Thats how the vast majority of people drive on the motorways in real life.
He was overtaking for most of the video you pillock
I have to admit the M25 does attract a lot of lorries that understandably avoid the heart of London, whether or not the Low Emission Zones exist.
@@cryoraptora303tm2 Yes, but you move left once you have passed them. “Hogging” outer lanes when inner lanes are empty reduces capacity.

Let me guess - is it the white van?
@@mini_ika_musume yh, Although I did not know that at the time, I was trying to guess when they were changing Junctions
