  • Miyajima is an island less than an hour outside the city of Hiroshima. It is most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water. The sight is ranked as one of Japan's three best views. There are also wild deer on the island that wander around town.

    I loved your sweet voice as you talked to the deer, Shinichi. Animals are so pure and beautiful and always elicit that feeling of love in me. ❤️ What gorgeous views around Miyajima! And I loved the beach rock wall. I've always wanted to visit Japan, and you and Satoshi have shown me many *very* special places I would never have known about otherwise. Heartfelt thanks.

    Thank you for sharing all these wonderful places in Japan. We are really lucky to see places like Miyajima this way because normally, especially on a weekend, it would be flooded with tourists. The way you wander around without a plan is exactly how I like to experience places when I visit Japan. I can't wait to be able to go there again.

    I QUITE enjoyed this!!! Loved the boat ride, those deer running around like cats, lol, The weather and scenery looked gorgeous, and the video quality was exceptional. I would have loved to see that little bridge with water underneath. I feel like I would drink too much sake and try to coax those deer onto the ferry to take them home, lol.

Recorrer el pueblo al aterdecer y ver como se van prendiendo todas las lamparas camino al santuario es un sueño. El Torii de noche.... magico. Saludos.

    I love Miyajima! It's a nice place to unwind after visiting the Peace Park memorials and museum, which are super heavy. You can catch a river boat to Miyajima from Peace Park, it costs more than the ferry but it's really convenient if you are staying around there, and you get an interesting view of some of the non- touristy areas of Hiroshima.

    Excellent walking tour of Miyajima. I was ambivalent about going to Miyajima when I plan to visit Hiroshima (Family roots) however, your video has changed my mind and will probably spend an overnight on the island.
    By the way, I can relate to the feeling you had coming upon those abandoned(?) homes...I had the same feeling. Then I recalled a movie that took was filmed onto a Native American reservation. Again, I had the same feeling seeing the homes they lived in. A Commentator expressed the same feeling and called meloncholy..."a feeling of pensive sadness, typically with no obvious cause." When I come across these episodes I often wonder what stories these homes / places could tell.
    Thank You!

The anago bento looks delicious. Don't think I ever had anago, I had some unagi, usually in sushi. Eel was one of my favourite fish when I grew up (together with teh Dutch/north sea shrimps). Always exciting when I got back from school for lunch and I saw some news papers on the kitchen counter; I knew that my uncle had dropped by to bring some freshly smoked fresh water eel :) such fond memories.

    I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but why aren't people sunbathing/tanning/enjoying the water at the beach? Because of COVID or another reason? I've noticed that folks don't really "use" the beach in your videos.

    • @AnnaKaunitz
      @AnnaKaunitz 3 роки тому +1

      Shinichi probably films several weeks ahead and if you take a look at the temperatures at the locations, they weren’t really beach friendly.
      Also, it’s certainly not healthy to be outside on the beach/exposed to sun in the middle of the day - a tan is a burn which increases wrinkles and burns each time you get tanned etc- and Japanese people value their skin.
      People with white skin who live with very hot temperatures don’t go swimming/beach relaxing in the day, they have lunch inside and work. They go out in the evening to socialise on cafes.
      The exceptions seems to be Uk people, US people, Brazilians and a few others lol and those are the ones that looks like fried red lobsters.
      UV is high during the spring and the winter skin don’t do well with it as it starts over from zero protection each spring.
      Also, a lot of people find it plain boring to spend hours at the beach past childhood. It’s also very easy to overheat in hot temperatures as a senior. Many people like to walk around as well. It feels natural and we need to move to feel healthy. People like to discover new locations by foot.
      It’s not a covid thing :)

    • @Shinichisworld
      @Shinichisworld  3 роки тому +2

      Not a silly question at all. Sunbathing isn’t a thing here in Japan. kids might play in the water though. We do have beaches that are more for swimming etc. they are designated as beaches and have facilities like changing rooms, vendors, lifeguards etc. you’ll find people laying on the beach, swimming etc at those places.

    Shinichi, I know you thought you were stretching it to say this was essential work making this video but it is a case of the truth being said in jest.
    Lockdowns and such cause and aggravate a lot of mental health issues. Being able to watch a video walk through of some of my favourite places in Japan really helps me stay sane and I am sure a lot of other people are also helped by it.
    So feel good about what you are doing. Running a popular UA-cam channel is real work. It takes a lot of skill and effort. And, as I said, it really helps a lot of people in these difficult times.

    Ah beautiful Deer, but I do wish they weren’t there, I wish they were back in the mountains. They are wild, one day a child will get hurt and it won’t be the deer’s fault. Why do humans think we know best. Leave wild animals where they are DON’T feed them. Don’t approach as they will approach the wrong people (poachers) who mean harm.
    Beautiful video shinichi. Just seeing wild animals mixed with humans annoys me cos it means we are getting to near their homes.

      I don’t blame him.
      So my relatives live in the Philippines. When I last visited them a few years ago, the first thing I did was turn on the TV as I relaxed and got ready for bed.
      The TV happened to be set to Discovery Asia. That channel was airing a special about airplane disasters in the Pacific. And this was a continuing theme on that network-they aired an awful lot of programming about commercial planes getting lost at sea and crashing into the Atlantic vs crashing into the Pacific. (If I remember right: In the Atlantic, you worry about the cold killing you. In the Pacific, you worry about sharks.) This wasn’t like watching the Discovery Channel in the US, where there’s more variety in the programming. Sure, Discovery Asia also had “Dirty Jobs” and “Mythbusters” back then, but they tended to play those airplane disaster shows much more often than the other programming you’d expect to see on that network. And keep in mind that it’s not like other countries have hundreds of channels to choose from. I don’t know how many cable channels the Philippines would have, but I had a handful of channels to choose from, and this Discovery was one of them.

    Kinda saddens me that you eat eel. Even the conger eel is sadly redlisted and endangered. I really love all of your videos tho Shinichi really i do. i just thought i'd tell you that all eels are critically endangered.
