I bought human hair crochet from shake n go (deep wave). I had no problem. If you know how to hide the elastic band the result is great. I've been wearing my hair for over 3 months yet it looks great
GIRLFRIEND, this was nothing but God!! I was just thinking, "why are there not any human crochet" I literally tried the same thing you did, (cutting a piece off my bundle) and had the same results as your video. Thanks girl for the info...and you right I'm NOT going to put up the coin for the human crochet. Keep up the good content. My only issue with synthetic hair is that tangles.
Great video. I've never had crochet braids/hair thus far. Your channel makes me think about it a lot. I have a scalp condition, so just braiding my own hair can be an issue. Thank you for more valuable information. Your finished looks always slay, too.
Back in the day I used to do something called interlocking. When you feed human hair into cornrows.....this will give you a crochet look with human hair
@@eyekandy3000 we called treebraids something like the boho braids when you feed hair into single braids and when finished the braids would be covered with hair
Hi Lia, First and foremost good to see and hear you're well! Second, I prefer synthetic hair crotchet for both economic and wear/longevity. Human hair is too costly and doesn't wear well or long term.
WOW! your first video was your first crochet install as well thats fascinating we literally been along for the entire journey 😯 idk why ive nvr made that correlation or realized that but thats incredible. And the drying fast is one heck of a selling point for synthetic hair I nvr knew much abt crochet until finding you
I never even thought about this until you said it. hmmmm... But forreal I think it would have potential but it really would need to be sturdy/thick enough to not slip.
Great video Lia, I was thinking about human hair for crochet. You explained it well and I understand why it is a no go. Your hair looks amazing, I wish I could do my own hair but I just can't get it to look like I want it to so I always get my crochet styles professionally installed. I saw one of your videos two years ago and loved it and that started my crochet journey. Thanks for such informative and thorough content.👏👏
When I was regularly doing crotchet on me and my daughter's a few years ago I thought human hair would be so much nicer, but in reality it would be a huge headache since I do my own installs. I got tired of the tangles, take downs (and accidently cutting my hair) lol, so my current solution is human hair curly clip ins and loooove them. If I go on a vacay I might get crotchet again but during this ongoing pandemic clip ins are a simple solution for me and they look gorgeous!
I was wondering where the influx of visitors, viewers and calls came from 🥰 until one of my new clients mentioned your video!! I was also wondering how I missed your video until I realized I'm subscribed to you on my personal channel. 😅 Thank you for the beautiful snippet of CROSHAN QONCEALS 😍‼️(It is pronounced CRO-SHAN, like SHANnon) THANK YOU FOR BELIEVING THE IMPOSSIBLE IS POSSIBLE!!! and for not giving up completely on human hair crochet!!! Your opinions are like gold and will be considered as I continue to improve my hairline for the public!! I'm hoping that when I teach my technique, I can bring another level to the crochet industry along with Human Hair. O, BTW, the picture of me in the yellow dress is my real hair 😆, it's not human hair crochet 😄 I'm so grateful, you have no idea ❤️
There is actually a very significant reason why human hair crochet is more complicated. Human hair has a cuticle that runs in one direction. If you fold the hair in half, one half will run up and the other will run down. INSTANT TANGLING. That's why shake and go attaches it to that unattractive knot, so the cuticles all run in one direction. Human hair crochet is achievable but it requires an adhesive. I have two methods of applying human hair crochet that use a variety of adhesives and in both methods, the hair can be re-used, and the cuticle issue is accounted for, but they are difficult to install on your own. For this and every other reason you stated I prefer synthetic hair for crochet and to me, it's a no-brainer. For those who are allergic to the antimicrobial spray the manufacturers put on synthetic hair a 30-minute soak in a cold water and apple cider vinegar bath will remove that coating and there will not be an allergic reaction. Synthetic hair is cruelty-free, does not react to weather, perspiration, humidity, chlorine, or saltwater. And in a pinch one pack of 80-inch Xpression hair can be turned into any texture and installed as a fabulous crochet look. You cannot beat the value of the pre-styled and separated packs of synthetic crochet hair or using Xpression hair for crochet styles, and the brilliance of crochet stylists who have mastered the art of making it look like its growing from your scalp. Plus its easy enough to do on your own for those who cant afford to, don't have time to, or prefer not to go to a stylist :-)
@@trinity72gp the damn cuticle LOL none of that with synthetic hair. But some synthetic hairs will tangle worse than human hair even without a cuticle like futura hair. There are effective ways to handle that though.
@@DanteVelasquez Yes I agree 👍🏾 I personally like the disposability of synthetic anyway. I have some old bundles of 18 inch kinky curly hair that I have been trying to figure out how to make a crochet wig out of. But folding in half wouldn't work, so I have thought of making a fold over of about 1 inch and adding glue to the knot. I suppose synthetic would be better, I just don't want to purchase any hair at this point lol
I think I’d choose human hair because to me it bounces back and doesn’t matt because with water it naturally creates slip so you can detangle it and it’s fine. You can swim with it without the fear of it matting up. Whereas synthetic hair matts up really bad when it gets wet and that’s just wasted how many hours installing only to take it out a couple weeks later. Although, I have seen really good synthetic hair on your channel that you’ve tried out Only thing I don’t like about the human hair ones is the ugly elastic band lol
That first point ✔️✔️ Back in the day, when people turned their noses up at synthetic anything, for my sew in’s, I stuck to mostly human hairs and heck yeah those 18”+ packs of Zury were definitely hitting the pockets super hard lol. And I generally didn’t even reuse the hair 😖 like an idiot 😂 Then, not only was the cost up there but I find that the human hair bundles have less strands in them compared to synthetic (usually, and depending on what style of hair of course) and I’d have to buy at least 5 packs of human with my big ole head as opposed to maybe 3.5 or 4 packs of synthetic

Love the video, super informative as always, however I wanted to ask what happened to your foundation videos, I miss them, you give the best foundation reviews and there are so many new foundations that have recently come out and I've been hoping to get your opinion as I am currently looking for my summer foundations
Very informative. 4years into crochet I would use real hair because I never keep it, nearly always cut it in some way and it's not cost effective 🤷🏾♀️ In fairness if those things don't matter to anyone and they can find someone to do it, go for it 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I do feel like brands need to better on the quality of crochet because I find that a lot of crochet hair looks very sponge like & not natural looking . I do very well by making my own crochet extensions (braids, twist & loose curly crochet hair) it looks natural and believable , which I use the same braiding hair that it is found in the beauty supply store.
The top and the accessories. ::chef’s kiss:: I wish HH crochet was more of a thing too but you are right. I’m not gonna drop $50+ per pack for crochet even if it’s reusable. Plus I can beat synthetic up. I’d really have to take care of some HH.
You mentioned someone from the Houston Texas area; would you please forward me her name and information? I'm not on social media so how would I get in touch with her? I've been rocking crochet for about a year when I seen your video so I'm loving it now. You sold me on it it.

You don’t need to have a IG account to see people who have public IG pages. I don’t know how to contact her without social media but she probably has a site listed in her IG bio.

Was randomly thinking about this and saw this vid. Human chrochet just never took off for me and I see its still only the same brand selling it that was years ago with no new competition around the same high price I like the versatility and cheaper option for synthetic. And human is too easy to slip out and doesn't blend as well to me either. (The straight kind at least) And its hard to reuse at such a high price...nah..
To install human hair, use the crotchet needle to get the hair through but use Brazilian knotting/African threading micro links techniques to keep the hair in place.
"Human" hair itself is "Expensive" to buy and its "Some body's else" hair. Synthetic hair is known to be the less expensive since it was created, bc of what it is made of. My theory( I could be wrong!😄😄😄) Im quite sure when crochet braids began in 1990, manufacturers "Tested" what would be better for these braids, how long it will last etc, and what would be cost efficient so they wouldn't lose money if it fails. Once they discovered that "Synthetic" was now "THE" money maker, they created different styles/ types of hair to get ahead of the competition that was now in the game too. When a name brand company has "Established" a name for themselves in the synthetic business, then they begin to go back and "Try" again " with the human hair and push the product ( dont think they didnt test human hair for crochets before. We just don't know about it) When they look at the "Sales" of it and its not moving "Productively" like "Synthetic" , they will produce "Some" human hair bc they now have to get some of that money back of which they invested into human hair. They thought we would buy anything "Especially" human hair, bc they know by word of mouth, African American women are known for hair care. Each company knows what works and what doesnt.
The reason they put that loop in isn’t because the hair is too soft. It’s because you can’t fold human hair over for two reasons. It’s will be too short mostly but mainly if you fold it over it will become too tangly. Human hair has a right and wrong direction. If the hair is combed the wrong way the keratin layer will lift and tangle too badly.
I bought human hair crochet from shake n go (deep wave). I had no problem. If you know how to hide the elastic band the result is great. I've been wearing my hair for over 3 months yet it looks great
I’m going to have check it out
3 months wow nice, Did you braid it or left it as is?
I've also warn human hair crochet and had no problem
I believe because crochet works better with synthetic hair. Simply because human hair is silky and it can slip out.
Exactly!!!
Yup. But God I wish it would stay.
Human hair doesn't have that secure pull on the knots 🤷🏽♀️💯
