Between the pride I feel for your lead performance and the Aria itself (follower of Jesus here) I shed tears. Good tears, nonetheless. So happy for you. ❤ Thank you for the audio/video clips. Thank you for sharing your progress with us. If I were there, I would have cheered the loudest for you.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 you're awesome 👍🏾

First I LOVE the headband you have on today. It works so well with your hair.
Second, continued to feel thrilled you got to have this moment. Keep up with the amazing.

Thank you for sharing your journey with singing, it means so much to me and it gives me hope that I'll someday will have the energy to get back to singing in a choir. I love singing classical music, I'm a soprano as well. I got completely burnt out a couple of years ago and I've slowly started to come back to the things that give me joy.

Of course you were going to get that solo, and you sang beautifully! No more imposter syndrome. You are FABULOUS!! LOL, did the colon thing this year too and it wasn’t too bad. Origins Plantscription SPF 25 has worked well for me as a daily cream (though it’s a bit pricey) and I use almond oil at night! Thanks for the reset update. Cheers! 🥰👍🏽

LOVE these moments of just real chat and reflection. Still feeling the swell of pride here. I am so glad you've chosen to share your artist's journey. It's not just about the art -- it's so much more. It's so relatable because we all have things we're not sure we can do or do well, and no matter our age (but definitely more once you've passed that 30/35), we all need a push to just go for it sometimes, especially if we have to keep going for it. I wish you understood what an inspiration you are. I also wish you realized, although I think you're beginning to, just how fabulous you are. Thanks for just being you and for being vulnerable enough to share it with all of us. Happy weekending!!

Milkweeds should sprout for you. When you plant them outside, know that they will grow a long singular root, basically as tall as the green visible plant part. However, if they can't go deep, they will go horizontally below the surface

I thought about the history of your singing journey getting to your solo performance. Look at you know! I'm glad you did not give up on your dream. I look forward to seeing you on your next solo performance. 🎉🎉🎉 BTW. I put off that colonoscopy for years...I finally had it done. 😂

Love these backstory videos, Kay. Mentioning that demon perched on your shoulder reminded me: Years ago a friend suggested slaying the dragon I felt was threatening me during a difficult time. Fight mode, battling and violence didn't sit right with me and instead I ended up befriending it with all its power, ultimately riding it to victory. Might not make sense out of context, but thought I'd offer it here. Thanks so much for bringing so many aspects of yourself here, Kay. This alone takes courage.

That makes sense when you look at many sopranos and they tend to be more robust women and you are quite petite. I think you should be proud of what you have accomplished as it has taken many years of dedicated work to get where you are. Most people would have given up by now but nothing is stopping Kay Patterson!!! #unstoppable

I am at best a semi-professional singer, so I have limited knowledge and experience. But my singing teacher always told me, if you can ace the ITALIAN songs and diction, you can sing in any language. But I admit to also having to learn French songs phonetically! But good Italian diction, I find, certainly assists with singing in another European language. I speak English and German fluently, and am currently learning French....gotta keep this old brain challenged!

Ugh I had both scopes done in Jan., it wasn't bad... but who wants to do that? lol And it's funny (ok not really but you know what I mean) that you mention the muffled ear thing because I went to urgent care today for continued sinus and ear pain... both of my ears have fluid in them (presumably from Eustachian tube dysfunction which my ENT thought I had a few years ago). I have a follow up with my ENT in April and also my annual with primary, but in the mean time the urgent care dr prescribed Prednisone for 5 days and also not a fan of having to take it. But if it brings me relief it is what it is... I told him no nasal sprays though as they cause me nosebleeds, I'll just use my saline nasal spray and be more consistent with my antihistamine (also going to look at adding in a DAO supp). He wanted to put me on Singulair also but I said I've had that in the past and it doesn't do anything for me. 🤷‍♀

I've sung that recit/aria a couple of times when we lived in NY (we moved to Salem two years ago). I find it one of the most challenging arias to sing - it's a very high sustained tessitura, it's slow, so it requires a LOT of breath support, and it's SOOOOO exposed - 3 instruments gives you almost no support (which makes it beautiful and ethereal). Of course it would have been sung by a young boy, and he would have had no issues lol. I'm older now and would never do it at this stage of the game haha. You did a beautiful job and OFF BOOK (eek) - I watched your other video. You were the perfect voice for the aria - it's supposed to sound light, lilting and very lyrical. Which it was. Well done!
We will be at the St Matthew performance at Emmanuel on Palm Sunday - looking forward to it! It is also my favorite choral work in the world.

Ah! Thank you! That means so much to me! I memorized it a long time ago, so I did my entire audition memorized. When Noah asked if I wanted to perform memorized, I was like 👁️👄👁️ LOL I didn't know the recit at all so I was always scared I was going to mess that up! 🤣
Yay, you're coming to the SMP at Emmanuel! It's gonna be so beautiful! I cannot wait to do it again!

Huzzah ! I did watch your performance, loved it very much. My first experience with that music. I humbly thank you for the music appreciation you've given here. You keep right on truckin' youngster , you're still growing . ooohhh ma'am i have questions too ; may as well put one here ; who is your favorite BIG voice ? Male and / or female ?

    • @kaypattersonvlogs

Larger voices are much more common but I love more the quality of voices more than the size. I know Amanda Forsythe personally and the singing she is able to do is inhuman. Baffling.
