    Fascinating stuff, thanks. I've come across Hans Sachs as the author of a version of _Schlaraffenland,_ which as you probably know is the German version of _The Land of Cockayne._ My wife and I perform the earliest known German example, from the mid-13th century, by Peter der Wachtelsack, with music and marionettes. It shares much in common with Sach's poem: the roasted birds that fly in your mouth, the walls made of cake, making fun of the Church, etc.
