Got to admit, I did have a good laugh at you running away from the cattle. 🤣
The thing is, cattle are just very curious creatures and just wanted to see what you were. If you had stood still long enough they would have eventually come right up to you and have a wee sniff to try and figure out what you are.

What a gorgeous cottage. Looks like it's been empty around three decades or more from the style of the lights, kitchen equipment with some much older kitchen cupboards and utensils. The light bulbs and both hoovers look to be around 1990s and it could easily have been a hang out for farm staff for a while after. Wouldn't take too much to get it going again. I used to live in the middle of nowhere, it was absolute heaven ❤️

What a great explore, that wee farmhouse & outbuildings are so typical of the style of many many old homes here in Ireland. Lovely old bookcase @12.30, and horse brasses used as decorations. The light switches @12
50 are bakilite (?) Could be from the 20s or 30s. Did you notice quant handles on the kitchen cabinet? Pretty new idea, backs up the idea the house is only unoccupied for the last 6 to 10 years. @18.20 is a turnip masher AFAIK. Great explore.

What a lovely place this must have been in its day. It has obviously been a happy home at one time. So sad to see it left abandoned like that. I’d like to think that it could be saved and renovated. It’s incredible that the power is still connected as if someone is paying the bill. I don’t think the cows were very happy with you being on their land! It was almost as they were guarding the property. It’s the ones with horns you have to worry about.

Such odd bits & pieces scattered around there. Do you do any research into the history of these places? Spoke with neighbours? Trace the property information?

  • @Ragnar8504

I once managed to walk into an abandoned house in Vienna, Austria (the garden gate and back door were wide open). The house was in pretty bad shape, one ceiling had already collapsed and another was just about ready to drop. Some rooms were completely empty, others looked like they'd been ransacked and everything worthless left on the floor while some, like kitchens and bathrooms, were untouched. There had been three flats, two tiny ones on the ground floor and a grand one upstairs. The upstairs one still had food on the kitchen table, utterly bonkers! Not a full meal but some rock-hard bread and a newspaper from about four years earlier I think. In the bathroom there was a bathrobe hanging on the door, toothbrushes and shaving supplies on the shelf above the sink. Out of sheer curiosity we tried one of the light switches in a downstairs flat and were freaked out as the light came on! Seeing that the electricity was still on got us to try the water - taps worked. Pretty spooked at that point I turned on the gas cooker in the upstairs kitchen and heard the characteristic hiss of gas from the jets. It's a miracle the house hasn't burned down with pre-WWII electrics under a leaky roof in a partially collapsed building!
The next time I visited the main fuses were gone so at least the electricity was off for good, can't remember about the gas and water. Some other urbexers took pictures of the house, search for "Die 78er - Hinter den Spiegeln" on the web!
