Can’t believe I’ve found this and it’s based in ‘tarn’! Just started collecting northern soul and it’s nice to know there’s plenty out there in my own town
you probably dont care but does anybody know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
I was the guy that drove Rob around to venues in '79 in the very reliable HILLMAN MINX.Great memories Rob.Remember the Rotherham All Dayers at the Football club ?Should never have sold Little Joe Cook on RED ISSUE,or the Velvet Satins on RED ISSUE.Never mind, the Sounds will always live on.Hope you are keeping well Rob.Last saw you at Measham Car Boot.Everybody here sends their best.
Nice to hear Samantha's get a mention had me some good times there..{ Inky social, Middlecroft ,jingles , Fusion ,Adam n Eve , Aquarius }but no comparison to climbing those stairs !!!!! KTF
Northern Soul collectors in the UK are fascinating. The music is usually average, if not poor, so what is the attraction to the vinyls, often obsessive. One theory is heat, the sounds evoke or reverence equatorial conditions, in Northern UK, a bleak space climate wise, an obvious escape, hope, longing.
Wigan Schmigan. Do they actually like Soul music in it's entirety, or only *Northern Soul*? There's little mention of anything else. Have they ever been to a Soul concert? Do they have any ballads? Do their 45 releases all end around 1970?
Well, the title is Northern Soul Record Empire, so that kind of gives if away. As for Soul concert's, yes, they have been, I know that for a fact. They all collect Northern Soul records, and they love that sound, that's why there's little mention of anything else..
These characters are VERY BLAND, unlike the ARTISTS who have real back stories, the struggle to make it out of the ghetto, the civil rights movement tension, the riots etc.........
How dare you?! If not for them, these obscure recordings by unknown artistes wouldn't have seen the light of day, let alone being played till this day.
I just said if you are a real fan, this is nothing new my friend.Seems like you "bite" too easy..It is not about exclusivity, that is what the original scene was, hiding the identity of records,it's what in the groove that matters, sorry to rock your boat, continue to enjoy.
How is it a waste? If you appreciate any aspect of Film and Northern Soul and RECORD COLLECTING (what this is about), then you would appreciate this little documentary. It's about real peoples stories and record collecting, if you read the title. You do not have to listen to these songs whilst people are talking about it because there's frankly too many. If you can't appreciate art, there's no need to be that negative. Look at the collections on here, people have heard the songs 1000 times, this is about how they got the records. Cheers for your feedback anyway, at least 5000 other people watched and liked it :)
Liam Andrews Nice say m8,, as indicated: t'was made as in mem of Monah, he was the geeza, ever so friendly as always back then, who said to Sammy n Pete W "lads, dontcha worry HOW you look on the floor - when the sound gets you you'll KNOW it, you'll dance, KEEP ON!" That was at Bons Main, Tues nights 76/7, our induction, then eventually to WC and on, etc. Whatever happened to Mick Goodwin btw?
@@suzyqualcast6269 Mona was my best mate, he also came 2nd in Wigan Casino's 1978 5th Anniversary Dancing Competition. After Mona died, i gave his dancing shoes to Brent Howarths young lad Ethan (Bolton)
Great little documentary - decent, ordinary people who love their soul music.

These characters were the old school DJ's who filled the dancefloor every time they put a record on.
no one would even know who most of the artists were if it wasn't for these 'bland' Northerners

ua-cam.com/video/IyJrPqJfHpY/v-deo.html worthy of re-release ?
