I read the summary from the food health governing body that made the decision, it was basically banned to remove them from being stocked in local stores, in fear of another tiktok challenge related to less spicy chips that sent a lot of German kids to the hospital. It didn't seem like a oh Danish people can't handle it but more of a kneejerk response to prevent kids from another tiktok soup challenge.
@@phantomofnyx does that warrant a ban though? because there really are people who eat it normally. won't a PSA work? were tide pods ever banned during *that* period?
@pul0y Well wording is a bit strong, I think maybe tidepods were because its obvious it's stupid but the "ban" isn't that I can't buy it, it's more a regular Danish super market can't have it at their isles, but same could be said about those crisps that got banned in most countries because children started hospitalising themselves with them due to a tictoc challenge. My guess is it was simply the easiest solution, where you can't ban cleaning stuff because people actually need them and it would be problematic, getting rid of a certain variety of noodles is kind of less of a problem. But if I were to guess why a psa wasn't enough that was likely based on the chilli crisp case where I believe they did psas yet tons of German kids and other European kids ended up hospitalised. I obviously don't know but I guess it was simply, an oh shit this is even spicier than the crisps and challenges are already starting up, let's just cut it at the root and try to be ahead this time around. I think better solutions could have been found but I suspect they didn't desire to spend time and resources on a "snack" And me as an adult can still easily with my credit card purchase it myself if I desired them, or most kids above 15? With a credit card, hence it's only really a ban if you only have access to local super markets and don't have a credit/debit card which 99% of all above 15 got
Calling spicy food “poison” is a joke. The heat won’t kill you and it only lasts for a few minutes. Perhaps the government should look at having warning labels added to food products with high capsaicin levels so that the public can make more informed decisions.
Even here in South America, there are people who like Korean ramen. I recently saw in some article that Korean ramen is popular. I have tried Korean ramen, but there are many different types of Korean ramen, some are spicy, but some are not spicy. And as expected, I expected news like this to come out of Europe media. If something non-European is popular in Europe, it is checked in this way. Nordic countries in particular seem to be even more exclusive
The ignorance of Denmark for Asian food culture is astounding 😂 To label a high spice level as poisonous?! Are you kidding me? This is some kind of deeply ignorance crap from some uneducated people 😂
To be fair they are known to have the least spicy and most bland food in the world so it makes sense. When paprika is spicy, anything that is actually spicy may kill them. To note historically north European food but especially danish food has been bland and to this day they don’t really use chilis. When they use spices it usually one at a time.

I mean, it *is* absolutely ridiculous. Yes there is technically a level of capsinoid that one could consider dangerous, but you’d be taking about concentrated extract. I’m embarrassed by what my government does all the time. This is definitely an embarrassing thing for your government to do and really plays into the stereotype of Danes thinking water is too spicy. Glad you’re enjoying some good heat though.
If you're only putting a third of the packet in, why did you buy the 3x spicy? You're throwing away 2/3 of the rest of the flavor away too, just get the regular one if you're weak
Buldak Ramen includes a spicy chili seasoning liquid soup. When you eat the noodles mixed with this spicy soup, endorphins and adrenaline are released in your body to cope with the spiciness, which can have a stress-relieving effect. If Buldak Ramen is too spicy, it’s also a good idea to add cheese.
The seriousness of the science that Denmark is basing this ban is best reflected by that the BBC, in order to find an expert on this topic, is interviewing a comedian.
In this day and age to remove individual accountability from consumers, is just insane. They are saying for parents, who presumably purchased these food items, to call a poison control agency if they note a reaction in their small children. How about the parents just not purchase items that are clearly marked 2x spicy and 3x spicy etc. there by doing their job as parents to provide good nutritious foods for small children and not allowing said small children to eat these items until they are older, say high school age. The parents are the consumers who purchase these food items and the responsibility lay squarely upon them.
