Off-Road Mechanics CREEPER - No Welding - DIY How To
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 лис 2023
- Todays project is a DIY mechanics creeper for working under vehicles and in low spaces. No welding is required as the wheel brackets are made from a single piece of steel tubing that was cut out using only an angle grinder. In the video I'll show you how I cut and fabricated the wheel assembly, laying platform and even a little bit of crude upholstery ;)
Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions you might have!

Joe, I am absolutely convinced there is nothing you cannot do!
Just put me outside a donut shop with $5 in my hand and tell me not to get a coffee and a donut. THAT I certainly can not do😂
@@homesteadonomics now that's funny! Now you're talking like a cop instead of a firefighter!🤣😂
PS, just won the local election here in our district. Three more years on the Canebrake Fire Commission.
I'm going to go ahead and assume those skidmarks is the parking lot were made by your Creeper's extensive tests!
Haha…. That would be a LOT of testing for sure!
Glad you didn't bust your behind in your entire. It would of hurt.
Worth the wait.
Haha….yep! It did kinda feel like being on ice🤪😂
When i watching your youtube channel my mind be relaxed, Thank you~!
What a FUN ride!!
Thank you!
So sick man, simple but effective and great attention to detail with those gift wrapping skills!
Thank you Martin! 😊🙏
You crack me up Joe 😂. Loved the clips of you and Marley having fun, and the non apology to your mum for peeking at the Xmas presents. 😂 Michelle 🇦🇺
Sweet creeper! One of your best videos ever.
Well thank you very much then!😊🙏
I like the way you did the retaining wall in the greenhouse that looks really nice. The creeper is nice too.
Thank you Loren!
Another awesome build. You could literally sell that for hundred$.
THANK YOU &
FJB 😇
Thank you! And I’m glad you knew who I had in mind when I said ‘creepy old guy who sniffs kids” 😂🤣
A very nice design...well done!
Love the Fred Flintstone braking maneuver at the end :)
Haha…thanks! I ended up shaving about a months worth of life off the soles I think🤦♂️😂
Great DIY project! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for checking it out😊🙏
Somehow I missed this video until now. Off to the metal store I go.
This was fun! Until the next video of course....
Super fantastic! Love the testing sections. I'm sure mom got a big chuckle! You'll get a lot of use out of this, I know.
Haha…. If only I could have upholstered it with clear scotch tape to really get that ‘re-wrapping presents’ vibe across😂🤣
You just had to give the kids ideas about Chridtmas gifts! Well done creepet and testing. U.L.approved ?
@@homesteadonomics That would have been an epic skills demonstration!
Another great design and build. All terrain creeper! Sure the clever design and the thumbnail image will attract a lot of viewers and DIY’ers!
Glad you liked it Dick! 😊🙏
Mr. Joe, glad a video came out. I was worried that maybe something happened to you or the family, or that your job was having you work a lot. But happy to see that you are still making videos. Interesting video on the creeper. Liked how you made it. Thank you for sharing and God Bless you and your family. 🥰💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍(🌹🐞🦂🌵)
Ah thank you Rose Marie! We are doing well. Just a lot of ‘life’ to deal with, as well as work on other things. But I should be a bit more consistent with my videos as I’ve got a lot of things in the works 😊🙏
Now that’s a fly board you’re ripping on. 😂
Thank you! 😂🙏
So, I was kind of right....when I saw the instagram story, I was thinking really big Roller Skates!!! 😂 Pretty cool creeper! 😎Thanks for a fun video 😀
Did you see the note at 6:52 😉
Oh yes! And marveled at how well your "wrapping skills" have progressed over the years! 😂 (Now I know why) 😊@@homesteadonomics
Use of the tube is brilliant.
What an awesome build 👏👏
Great project, thanks for sharing.
As always, awesome video and very helpful content.
Awesome idea!
Glad you think so Loren! 😊🙏
Great and fun project 👍😁
Thank you!
So THAT'S where you go to cut donuts.
You hooligan!!! Hahahahaha.
Another good'n. Keep 'em coming brother.
Haha….maybe when I was 18. Now I’m the old guy that looks at those marks and just laughs thinking “those poor kids don’t realize how much those tires are gonna cost them”😂
Nice I can’t wait to watch your new video
Thanks Buddy!
That’s cool! 😎
Thank you!
Love all that you put in this channel
Thank you! Greatly appreciate that😊🙏
Nice! Excellent design. You could save money and space by replacing the steel back stuff with some 3/4 ply I’d bet. Cool project :)
Thank you! And yes, a strip of 3/4” ply would also do the trick as well on that back support
Very cool project... Great design and perhaps the magnetic wrenches and screwdrivers would put those steel wheel mounts to extra use.. Cheers.. nice show.. Thanks.
Yes, something magnetic would work well with the mounts and it keeps them close and ready to use when under the vehicle. Thanks!😊🙏
Always enjoy your builds!
Thank you John!
Wonderful idea!
Nice! However I, would have added 4 small sunken slots / compartments next to the handles for bolts / spanners, no slide out tray like you mentioned but much simpler.
I’ll probably do something eventually. If not the tray the slots you mentioned might work nicely too!😊🙏
Great video Joe... Thanks!!! 🎄
Well Done!! Nice to see back in the ether.
Thank you Jim! I’ve got much more in the queue after this extended absence😊🙏
Looks like too much fun.
You're awesome buddy!!! 👏🏻🤓 Cheers from Venezuela.!
Awesome video.
Thank you!
You need to partner with a paint company for "Homestead Economics Gray" spray paint LOL
Haha….I do think that would be kinda cool to see that in a store😁
That's neat!! can't ride it without shoes!! God Bless!!
You got that right! And May God Bless you too!
Interesting, I just started a build on a creeper, because my third Harbor Freight one failed. I get around 1 to 2 years out of them. Decided to build my own, but it required some welding.
Liked your design so will copy with a few minor changes, side pockets for tools and maybe center wheels, although like the larger wheels (more rolling surface).
So, thanks.
Saludos desde Argentina
Thanks and great to hear from Argentina 🇦🇷 😊👍
Cool.
Thank you!
Best design ive seen yet. Well thought out. Have you thought of making more and selling them to anyone interested.
2:45 that is definitely the strangest looking "W" I've ever seen....LOL
I was (almost being serious here) disappointed with this video! I tried to trademark Homesteadonomics GRAY but they said some guy in Arizona already did it. Bummed. Thank you for another instructive and interesting video. Mike
Haha….must have been some other guy as the cans I buy still only say ‘dark machine gray’. But I’m working on it🤪😂
Good
Thanks
You cracked me up -- sniffing your children's hair. 😂
Glad to hear it😂👍
Really great project. As someone who goes over most tools 250lbs limit I was happy to see you showed the over 300lb weight test (285 and dropping, I’m not there yet!). If you left the edges of your tubing to the depth of your plywood could you have just added a strip of your plywood and just bolted thru the two layers it increase your “W” strength? Would the extra inch in height cause much issues with clearance? I does seem to be a great toy for fathers and daughters. Maybe add a seatbelt and have your daughter tow you behind her mustang 😄. Thanks for sharing and if we don’t see you before, have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you! Yes, I’m pushing that range as I usually range from 225-240lb depending on my will power to resist grabbing a couple donuts on my drive to work or not🤦♂️.
But I’m glad you’re on a good path. I’m going to need to do something soon as well. I just need to work it into a ‘project’ of some sort…..diy concrete weights….the ‘homestead’ diet (I’d eat only game meat and things from the garden’…..or some other sort of thing to motivate me🤪. Project based motivation seems to be the best thing to keep me consistent.
Pretty creepy video! And complete with “Fred Flintstone” brakes 😅 He and Barney would be proud 😅
Haha….they’re the original ‘old school’ brakes 😁
Great job first time I've seen your videos.I'll be watching more... What purpose does the pencil serve on your skill saw?
Noice!
Thanks Dallas!😊🙏
Joe, I am wiring a container for a small shop. I was wondering how, or if, you grounded your shop. I've experienced light shocks while in my container. Please show us what you did to ground things. Thank you for the content. Chet.
Hi Chet,
My grounding essentially runs back to my house panel, where it is grounded below the slab with a large copper rod. I intended to do a rod at the shop, as well, but just never had issues.
For your situation though, it’ll depend. You could locally ground via your panel near the shop which would be more ideal as it’s closer. And it’d be connected to your panels installed ground connections.
But its hard to say for sure without seeing it. If you can, I’d see if you could get an electrician or friend with expertise to check it out.
Thanks
I enjoyed your video and appreciate your sharing exceptional creative expertise incorporated into your projects🤔. This one was exceptional. God bless. Stay safe, healthy, strong, discerning, peaceful and successful. Praying for you and family and all your needs and desires in Jesus' Name. ☝️🙏🙌💪🎯
I just found your channel again. I'm subscribed and my notifications are on but that darned UA-cam algorithm is not notifying me of your new videos. I have some catching up to do.
Eey Joe
Where is the content of your deer hunt?
Did you grow a mustache?
Well the moustache was grown and shaved between the last video and this one. And my elk hunt….well, let’s just say a lot of things just didn’t align and I opted not to. But I will have an archery hunt in December which might lend better to filming….
👍👍
Great skateboard. What you didn't paint it hot pink?😂❤
Thanks! As for hot pink….well, you know me painting anything more than gray is already a big jump. So next time 😂
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
👍😎
Almost looks like you need to add some brakes to it!😂
Yep…..Now I’m thinking I shouldn’t have cut the caster locks off then😂
genial 👌👌
Thank you!
Your work is beautiful, my friend. I am from Morocco. I love work, I move a lot, and I have good morals. Praise be to God. I hope to work with you and help you. Can you advise me on the way to travel there, whether to meet or come to me in Morocco? Welcome, my friend.
Thank you Samir! And great to hear from Morocco 🇲🇦 😊👍. May God Bless you as well!
What is the name brand of the boots you are wearing? Thanks for sharing.
They are redbacks boots.
Now add a motor, a steering mechanism, and brakes. Go cart!
It’s definitely got a good low stance for gliding in some tight go kart turns 🤪👍
Somebody used your video for tiktok.🥴
I know what he is going to do with that creeper. He is going to use it to creep up on people and sniff their shoes.
😂🤣🤢
Snazzy project. My problem is whenever I try to make something like this, even if I have most of the material, and up spending more on making it than just being able to go buy a cheap one at harbor freight. So I'm going to resist the urge to build this. Good video though.
Now take it out on a real dirt patch not your packed driveway!
Adhd or meth, can't tell.
