I love If You've Got Troubles. Ringo really delivers one of his most rocking beats while singing the lead vocal with laid-back confidence. I never really understood why this song wasn't released until the Anthology 2 album. This is my favorite Ringo/Beatles track.
Many people don’t believe that Ringo was/is a great drummer. None of those people are drummers themselves. On the other hand almost all professional drummers praise him as great and as a huge influence. Vocally he doesn’t have a huge range but his voice quality is warm and endearing. He is a great entertainer and has the best personality of all the Beatles. They were lucky to have him.
There was a time 20 years ago when dissing Ringo was considered a sign of musical sophistication. With the advent of the Internet and consequent decline of the power of pseudointellectual music criticism, that time has passed. Everybody who knows anything about rhythm acknowledges Ringo Starr as an imitable badass motherfucker.
what gets me is, when appraising the Beatles musicianship talents, we seem to assume that they all went through years and years of classical training, taught by the masters of the trade and should then all play like maestros! these were shop floor, learning by doing musicians - went through the apprenticeship of life. Not taught by some god of the guitar or piano, just humble players who had something which even the masters of an instrument do not necessarily have, the ability to write music and words and create a song which hit the emotions of people around the world! bum notes included!
What I love about Ringo is, although he wasn't born with the best voice in the band, he's really developed strength and confidence in his voice over his solo career.
Great tune and it clearly fits under "The Only 12 Beatles Songs Ringo Starr Sang Lead Vocals On." Also fits with "These are the stories behind every Beatles song featuring RIngo Starr on lead vocals." Grunge just effed it up!
It was designated for release on Rubber Soul, but was not up to snuff. Ringo sensed it. for when it came to the break, instead of the usual, 'take it George', he yelped, "take it...anybody!"
Ringo Starr is quite a unique singer. I also believe that his drumming is underrated. My favorite Ringo songs while he was with the Beatles are Octopus' Garden, Yellow Submarine, and A Little Help From My Friends. I also enjoy most of the solo done by Ringo Starr.
I love Your sixteen, Your beautiful and your mine. Octopus's garden, and Yellow Submarine. It don't come easy is another huge favourite of mine as is Photograph. Basically any of his songs appeal to me. Hard to choose between them. But I just love Ringo anyway. He always comes across as very laid back and pretty happy.

Not the greatest singer (-or even drummer) in the world, but with the H... of a lot of personality and charm. It would take a very cold person not to like Ringos performances😊
Every time Ringo performs "Boys' it becomes a new favorite. Ringo is so multi-talented. Besides being the greatest drummer in history and being a great singer, he also composed great music and presents some of the greatest rock shows. His "Liverpool" never fails to draw tears from my eyes.
On the song "with a little help from my friends ", the way his voice detunes in places adds an amazing effect to the song. Mark e Smith used this technique too, to great effect
If you listen carefully, you can also hear Ringo's voice in the instrumental "Flying" from Magical Mystery Tour, and "Carry That Weight" from Abbey Road. Noteworthy: Of Ringo's 11 vocal leads as a Beatle, 4 were covers; 2 of those covers by Carl Perkins, 4 by John and Paul for Ringo to sing, 1 by John, Paul and Ringo himself, and 2 by Ringo himself.
@@bluepeng8895 Sure he was not in the same class as some singers but his voice suited the songs that he did sing. He is a lovely positive man and we need more like him.
I think Ringo was a beautiful singer. I love the way he sung at naturally and honey don’t. I think it would’ve been really cool if he was a song rocky raccoon I think he would’ve really did a good job on that one too. I am a total beetle fan. I’ve been one every since I was 11 years old. Thanks for the video. You did a great job.👍🏼👍🏼😁😎🎸❤️
Yeah, Ringo, with his country-ish voice, might have done well on Rocky Raccoon. But the very next song on the White Album was Ringo's own Don't Pass Me By.
Ringo's voice always came through well when all four of them were equally miked up. The chorus of "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill," and the wordless vocals on "Flying" are two of the best examples.
The album Please Please Me was not recorded on one day. Three songs where recorded much earlier, Please Please Me and Ask Me Why, November 26 th 1962, Love me do also in 1962. The rest of the album was recorded february 11th 1963.
Amazing, really ,he was the drummer in a Band with those three ,in any other band from that era apart from the Dave Clark five he would have remained the drummer, nothing amazing whatsoever. The Beatles gave him a solo spot live and on record that’s where the total comes from.
"only 11 songs" LOL... i say he's got some talent if he did lead vocals on just one song. It's rare to see a drummer who can sing while drumming. this actually reminds me of a story with my old band, we were trying to tell these guys how to set us up for a "battle of the bands" show and we told the guy that our drummer did backing vocals (which he did do in our live shows, that were set up by ourselves). The guy just straight up looked at us and said "nope"... LOL their whole show management setup was a scam anyways, which was revealed later on... (they did a bunch of them in the mid-late 2000s)
Missing here is the info that If You've Got Trouble was initially the song for Ringo on HELP, but he didn't like it ... and proposed Act Naturally instead.
I lived through the entire Beatles era, I was 8 in 1960 and by the time they made Sergeant Peppers I was 15, so we who were there at the time saw music change in the 7 short years, Cream, Hendrix and The Moody Blues etc. As they say "you had to be there" and it is true, what I really hate is all this stuff all over youtube about the Beatles. They broke up and went in different directions and that Get Back thing by Peter Jackson was an utter night mare, WHY? What good could it do except make a few people wealthy, John Lennon would never have allowed it. I remember that guy filming them back then and it was interesting but unnecessary. Watching Yellow Submaine and Magical Mystery Tour on acid was what it was all about, like listening to Electric Ladyland on acid or Disraeli Gears, it was of it's time. I am glad I had the experience but all this Beatles stuff misses the point. Who really gives a toss what songs Ringo sang on, I am sure he couldn't care less nowadays, he had the experience too.
I call your name is sung by Lennon but was written to be sung by Starr, there's a cool video on UA-cam with Starr singing with Tom Petty, Joe Walsh, Jeff Lynne and Jim Keltner: not a bad backing band!
You show footage from the Beatles singing "Shout" but don't cite it? That's a joint effort by all four, they all sing lead at some point in the song. Thumb down.
11 too many :) Love the Beatles and I love Ringo but when you have Lennon and McCartney as well as Harrison, Ringo should have known his place vocally.
Of all the Beatles songs Ringo sang on only one I like and that is "Act Naturally". As for solo songs "It Don't Come Easy", "You're Sixteen", and "Photograph". Ringo has a voice that is just not appealing to the ear. That is my opinion so don't hammer me with protests.
Right, since Love Me Do, PS I Love You, Please Please Me, and Ask Me Why were from different sessions, thus, the album was not recorded in a single day. The other 10 songs though, were from a single day session.
What was your favorite performance by Ringo Starr?

I like "It Don't Come Easy" but very little else by Ringo. Not a fan of his singing.
