Dave Navarro Explains Why "Mean Streets" is His Favorite Van Halen Song | SiriusXM
• Dave Navarro Explains ...
Fair Warning is my all-time favorite VH album.
Mean Street is inarguably one of their greatest songs
The whole song is badass, including the lyrics.
In my opinion Fair Warning is VH's best album. It's my fav. Mean Street is arguably the best guitar riff ever written.
Mean street is definitely one of Edward best riffs. It sounds mean(pun intended) aggressive, and FUNKY. Then add his God-like tone, that is one bad ass riff
@@frettin1706 You described it perfectly. Has all those elements.
No doubt
Love the entire "Fair Warning" album! 🤘☮
Amen Brother it's my favorite album to :-)
Thanx Dave.
You are awesome too.
💯🔥🎸
I’ve been saying “Mean Streets” is my favorite VH song for decades!
It is called “Mean Street”. Also, the Gene Simmons demo was recorded before they were signed by Warner Bros. The songs “Voodoo Queen” and parts of “She’s the Woman” were the progenitors of “Mean Street”. “She’s the Woman” is present on the 1976 Gene Simmons demo, but not “Voodoo Queen”-that was on the Warner demos (completely separate from the Gene Simmons demo) which were recorded just prior to the sessions for the first album proper.
Eddie wrote all kinds of music early on. I had heard he wrote Right Now when DLR was still in the band.
Yes I believe he wrote that piano part in 1982.
Unbelievable album
Mean street is ridiculous !!! Changed the way all of us played guitar he was so rhythmic like a drummer playing guitar
Unbelievable RIP King Edward. 👍🏼👍🏼🎸🎸🎸
Mean Streets and Hear About It Later are the two best songs from Fair Warning.
Mean Street is the song title. Singular not plural. I can see how many would confuse the title though. Fair Warning is my favorite Van Halen album and if I had to pick one song, I'd be cool with Mean Street. Just killer riffs, guitar solo and sexual swagger and a rhythm section swing no one in rock can touch.
Best record, best song- agree 100%- Stevie
As good as the intro solo is, the out solo is even better.....incredible. Probably one of Eddie's best. Fair Warning is my favorite DLR era Van Halen album and Mean Street still gives me goose bumps when I listen to it.
This song is so good. I made the intro into a ring tone...the part after the finger taping
Long live the mighty Van Halen.
I love that tune.....
Agreed
I love anything they did
LONG LIVE EVH
Fair Warning 💙
Mean Streets love it.
Agreed!
BEST. OUTRO. EVER!!!
Rhoads and van Halen deserve their own shows.......two all time A leaguers
Ahhhhhh Fair Warning.....My fav VH album......
The Atomic Punk!
Mean Streets...Secrets...Woman in Love....and ,many many others of course.
Even the album cover Art 🖼 is the best
I'm so happy this is one of your favorites!
I like Fair Warining a good bit, but I wouldn't say it's my favorite album. With that said, I think Eddie's tone is at it's best on this album. It's just something else.
Eddie had hundreds of guitar parts he'd dig out of the vaults if the band needed them in future e.g. The keyboard intro to Right Now the 1991 track from the For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge album was an old part Eddie wrote and recorded as part of a film score for the 1984 movie The Wild Life
jazz clarinet player and guitarist (like EVH's father) i imediatly found Rair Warning the most funky and swinging album
powerfull but ner violent
aerial
Well there's a electric guitar player who plays for Jane's Addiction and he's a badass guitar player that's right that's you I would love to see you guys play in Corpus Christi Texas where your real fans are
Mean street.
LONG LIVE EDDIE
NICE‼️
He’s correct
Just one street, Dave. Not multiple streets.
Mean streets?
Mean street
Holy fuck, what a cool thing to say!!!Dave is the man!!
It's called "Mean Street", not "Streets". smgdh
Mean Street, not Streets.
20,000 views and 149 likes. Nobody cares about what Dave Navarro thinks with the exception of these 149 people.
"Mean Street"... not Mean Streets. But anyway, this riff and Iomi's riff on "Into the Void" are my all-time favorites. Just flat-out bad ass, animalistic and nasty.
"Changed my life" " Favourite Album" bla bla bla, but apparently doen´t know the right name of the song. It is Mean Street , not Streets. And the best thing is (or worse) : the editor for SiriusXM also does not know his/her Van Halen and gladly took the mistake in the describtion. Woeful.
You could at the very least get the name of the song right. JFC!! Your credibility plummeted right off the bat.
My favorite Van Halen song is “ Jump”
You cannot use the phrase "guitar greats" and have B leaguers like The Edge, Brad Paisley, Tom Morello, , Keith Urban, Jimi Hendrix, Jack White
and then omit names like Iommi...Rhoads....Young Brothers.....Vai..Wylde....on and on....
Jimi Hendrix a B league guitarist? That's a new one.
@@livingroomguitarist7 oh you thought he was a C Leaguer? Sloppy couldn't tune his own guitar...
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle clueless
@@livingroomguitarist7 well read what I said, there are clues in there to help out
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle to call Jimi Hendrix a B league guitar player, and then to say he couldn't tune his guitar shows you are totally clueless about Jimi Hendrix.
This coming from a dude who once underhandedly dogged out eddie.
He would never say these nice words if eddie was alive.. there's always that guy who says nice things about someone who died .simply cause the dead don't talk..mr navarro you'll always be in Eddies shadow.even though he's no longer with us.. sorry I just have to tell it like it is.
Shut up
Mean Street is inarguably one of their greatest songs
