The guy who wrote the Star Blazers: Rebirth web comic came up with a good phrase to describe how earthlings decades later would view the events of the three Yamato series and five movies: The Five Years of Fire. It's not cannon, but it's a cute way to describe the spectacular amount of trouble the crew gets into in just five years. Wildstar doesn't look much older (though his art style has changed since the first series!) because he's still close to the same age. Poor earth..
Originally, the Yamato III Bolar Wars series was said to be set in 2205 (about 3 years after Be Forever Yamato). With Final Yamato claiming to be set in 2203 (but still referencing the Bolar Wars), it does look like a lot of trouble for Earth to get into in 5 years. Even Star Trek doesn't have something that threatens the Earth every single year for almost five years. And then in Resurrection, barely a generation later (17 years), it starts all over again. Question is, how do they replenish the human population so fast so as to have mass deaths in almost every installment?

I think that the Yamato was basically the only ship left at the end of the first series, then at the start of the second series, they have the whole fleet rebuilt including over a dozen large ships with wave motion guns. They all get destroyed again, then the fleet is rebuilt once more in a remarkable time for Be Forever Yamato. No wonder they often seemed so ineffective compared to the Yamato -- every ship's officer corps must have been new recruits!
@@ianwestc Yamato 2202,the remake does give us a sci-fi explanation. The new fleet was built in some sort of interdimensional pocket in space where time stands still. The remake series boldly goes a lot of places where the original series never went. And then there's the whole convoluted backstory given to the Comet Empire and Zordar.
Not exactly. Iscandar was still intact at the end of Season one. It was Gamilon that was destroyed. In Season two, it was Telezart that was destroyed. Wildstar's brother even stayed behind with Starsha on Iscandar, so it was still a viable, life sustaining planet.
No. There is one story between episode 2 and episode 3. As you know this is episode 3. That story is short story. Iscandal was exploded by Starsha not to give Dark Cluster Empire Iscandalium. This is well-known episode among Japanese fun.

At 5:17, is Sandor being voiced by Rene Auberjenois? That sounds kind of like him. Would be a rare instance of him playing a more genial and smart character. He usually get's cast as either foppish twits, conceited jerks, or curmudgeons. And then there's the drunken skeleton guy in the Last Unicorn.

So, when did the military let their soldiers leave a mission for a girl? He even missed her when he only saw her for about a minute. Yep, cartoon logic but heck, I loved this show as a kids so it get a pass.

Susumu(Wildstar) was 23 by the final season, but anyone who faced such enormous stress in 5 years would get some white hair in reality. Poor Susumu!

Money for decent dubbing was actually put in the first 2 seasons. Its a shame someone hasnt paid to redub and re-release these
