    Thanks for the video. So helpful in my decision making. A few questions
    1. That's the hotel offer beach access? Or do you have to walk the 10 minutes like you did?
    2. Does the hotel offer beach chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach? If not, can you rent those once you get there?
    3. Would you recommend doing this hotel versus an all-inclusive? Is it better to be able to pick and choose your restaurants and activities instead of being stuck at and all inclusive?

      Thanks for watching! To answer your questions, I'll try to share my experience and perspective best possible:
      1. The hotel does not have its own dedicated beach access due to being located on the lagoon side of the hotel zone. The beach in the video is the closest accessible beach to the hotel, but fortunately also one of the best beaches in the hotel zone. The most simple means of getting there is walking the 10 min, alternatively just hop on the bus for MXN 12, and hop off at the bus stop directly opposite the hospital/fire station junction featured in the video. Same option returning to the hotel. There is a bus nearly every 1-2 minutes, it's so simple (there is a quick video in the Cancun playlist illustrating how to use the bus). I prefer walking simply because exactly halfway between the hotel and the beach is a restaurant called El Fish Fritanga which has the absolute BEST and freshest fish tacos in Cancun, and its super cheap, with a street side dining option.
      2. The hotel does not offer beach chairs nor umbrellas. However, at the beach you'll find chairs, loungers, tables, and umbrellas available for rent for super cheap. The same suppliers even sell cold drinks and beer if you desire, although there is also an OXXO right next to the beach access where you can buy snacks, light meals, drinks and beer for less than US$ 1. The beach also has clean public toilets and showers which are serviced during the day, and free to use by all.
      3. Okay, now the difficult question: All-inclusive vs European plan (as applicable to the Canopy). To answer this question, we'll compare a standard 3-nights stay over a weekend. The Canopy would cost around US$ 600-00 all costs and taxes included, whereas a decent all-inclusive offering the same standards as the Canopy would cost around US$ 1500-00. The price difference therefore is US$ 900-00 over a 3 night period. In my opinion you can get MUCH more value and quality by spending that US$ 900-00 over a period of 3 days outside with an abundance of choices of excellent activities and entertainment compared to being limited to the all-inclusive offering within the property limits of an all-inclusive resort. I like an all-inclusive resort, but I also like to get out and experience the surroundings, such as a day trip to Isla Mujeres, or a day trip to the Riviera Maya (like Xcaret, cenotes, etc). However, if you intend just to relax and not go anywhere, and don't want to worry about F&B consumption bills at the end of your stay, then all-inclusive is a good option. Lastly, with reference to the Canopy, its rooftop pool is amazing, and there is no all-inclusive resort offering the same.
      I hope this helps. These decisions are difficult, I know. However, if its your first time visiting Cancun, the Canopy is a good start to get the feel and orientate yourself without breaking the bank. BTW, Uber is also available in the Hotel Zone which simplifies transportation if you do not want to use the bus.

      @@CheatsheetTravel thank you so much for your detailed response. This helped a lot. I've traveled extensively in Mexico but never done an all-inclusive in Cancun before. Initially, I had booked the hard Rock but then canceled and decided to go this route using the canopy hotel as the base and then having full control of food and activities around the area. Thank you so much, you've been a great help

      @@A-a-ron007 I'm happy I could be of assistance. Just btw, if you intend on doing an all-inclusive later on, try the Hilton Mar Caribe (if you just wish to relax), otherwise try RIU Cancun if you want to be close to the party scene, with simple access to transport (such as the Isla Mujeres ferry service). You should plan on eventually doing an all-inclusive at least once ...

      @@CheatsheetTravel thanks for this suggestion. I was looking at the Riu but didn't book it. I really like the excellence brand a lot but it was too expensive for my dates

    How far is the hotel to/from the airport and does the hotel recommend drivers to/from the airport? I prefer hired drivers.

    • @CheatsheetTravel
      @CheatsheetTravel  5 місяців тому

      The hotel is 24 km (15 mi) from the airport, which is about 30 min ride by car. The simplest option to go from the airport to the hotel is by requesting the hotel concierge/reception to arrange a transfer collection from the airport to the hotel via a shuttle bus (arranged at least 48 hours in advance).
      Alternatively (cheapest and most reliable option): Go to shuttles.vivaaerobus.com, and book a transfer directly to the hotel starting at US$ 27.00 per person. For the return (hotel to airport), just use Uber. Unfortunately Uber is not authorized to do airport collections (long story), but they are allowed to do airport drop-offs from the hotel.
      I hope this helps!

      @CheatsheetTravel thank you. I travel a lot, so I probably know the long story about the Uber driver restriction, which is the reason for my question. 😊
