I LOVE THAT PLACE SIT IN THE BACK QUIETER
I agree, that place is the perfect spot to hide away and enjoy your breakfast before starting a day of more relaxation. The open air tree canopy in the back is just perfect! Thanks for watching 😊
What is here for vegetarian
All dining facilities have quite an extensive range of vegan dining options, especially the buffet. The food options are really extensive and caters for all meal preferences. Even the Mexican cuisine section alone has many traditional Mexican vegan options to choose from.
We had an amazing time at this hotel it was spotless food there was something for everyone's taste
RIU Caribe is one of the best RIU's in Cancun, especially after being renovated. Its location and beach is also perfect! I think it is one of the best value for money all-inclusive resorts in Cancun. Thanks for watching!
Beatiful! 😍😍😍
Yes, that beach is amazing! Thanks for watching 😊
It's sadly not a hidden gem anymore, and it's being soooo built up, Condos EVERYWHERE. I love it, but it's getting more busy. Soon it'll be the same as the other places
Sadly, it is the same situation everywhere. So many awesome beach towns in the Yucatan peninsula until developers take control of the beachfront properties who then cut off access to the beaches. Unfortunately you are right. Soon Puerto Morelos will be the same as Playa del Carmen town.
Amazing!!❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for the video. So helpful in my decision making. A few questions 1. That's the hotel offer beach access? Or do you have to walk the 10 minutes like you did? 2. Does the hotel offer beach chairs and umbrellas to take to the beach? If not, can you rent those once you get there? 3. Would you recommend doing this hotel versus an all-inclusive? Is it better to be able to pick and choose your restaurants and activities instead of being stuck at and all inclusive?
Thanks for watching! To answer your questions, I'll try to share my experience and perspective best possible: 1. The hotel does not have its own dedicated beach access due to being located on the lagoon side of the hotel zone. The beach in the video is the closest accessible beach to the hotel, but fortunately also one of the best beaches in the hotel zone. The most simple means of getting there is walking the 10 min, alternatively just hop on the bus for MXN 12, and hop off at the bus stop directly opposite the hospital/fire station junction featured in the video. Same option returning to the hotel. There is a bus nearly every 1-2 minutes, it's so simple (there is a quick video in the Cancun playlist illustrating how to use the bus). I prefer walking simply because exactly halfway between the hotel and the beach is a restaurant called El Fish Fritanga which has the absolute BEST and freshest fish tacos in Cancun, and its super cheap, with a street side dining option. 2. The hotel does not offer beach chairs nor umbrellas. However, at the beach you'll find chairs, loungers, tables, and umbrellas available for rent for super cheap. The same suppliers even sell cold drinks and beer if you desire, although there is also an OXXO right next to the beach access where you can buy snacks, light meals, drinks and beer for less than US$ 1. The beach also has clean public toilets and showers which are serviced during the day, and free to use by all. 3. Okay, now the difficult question: All-inclusive vs European plan (as applicable to the Canopy). To answer this question, we'll compare a standard 3-nights stay over a weekend. The Canopy would cost around US$ 600-00 all costs and taxes included, whereas a decent all-inclusive offering the same standards as the Canopy would cost around US$ 1500-00. The price difference therefore is US$ 900-00 over a 3 night period. In my opinion you can get MUCH more value and quality by spending that US$ 900-00 over a period of 3 days outside with an abundance of choices of excellent activities and entertainment compared to being limited to the all-inclusive offering within the property limits of an all-inclusive resort. I like an all-inclusive resort, but I also like to get out and experience the surroundings, such as a day trip to Isla Mujeres, or a day trip to the Riviera Maya (like Xcaret, cenotes, etc). However, if you intend just to relax and not go anywhere, and don't want to worry about F&B consumption bills at the end of your stay, then all-inclusive is a good option. Lastly, with reference to the Canopy, its rooftop pool is amazing, and there is no all-inclusive resort offering the same. I hope this helps. These decisions are difficult, I know. However, if its your first time visiting Cancun, the Canopy is a good start to get the feel and orientate yourself without breaking the bank. BTW, Uber is also available in the Hotel Zone which simplifies transportation if you do not want to use the bus.
@@CheatsheetTravel thank you so much for your detailed response. This helped a lot. I've traveled extensively in Mexico but never done an all-inclusive in Cancun before. Initially, I had booked the hard Rock but then canceled and decided to go this route using the canopy hotel as the base and then having full control of food and activities around the area. Thank you so much, you've been a great help
@@A-a-ron007 I'm happy I could be of assistance. Just btw, if you intend on doing an all-inclusive later on, try the Hilton Mar Caribe (if you just wish to relax), otherwise try RIU Cancun if you want to be close to the party scene, with simple access to transport (such as the Isla Mujeres ferry service). You should plan on eventually doing an all-inclusive at least once ...
@@CheatsheetTravel thanks for this suggestion. I was looking at the Riu but didn't book it. I really like the excellence brand a lot but it was too expensive for my dates
Would you pick the Riu peninsula over the new Riu Latino?
RIU Latino, because it's a newer hotel. RIU Palace Peninsula is in need of a renovation because it's getting a bit dated from an interior perspective, although it is better in terms of location and beach facilities. From best value for money perspective, RIU Latino is the better option. The Costa Mujeres resorts also have more space, and not as built up as in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
Great video, thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Are there shows for kids in the evening?
In the evenings there are kids-friendly shows, but no shows dedicated to kids simply due to low demand. The shows usually cater for both the families section and adults only section at communal areas, instead of being separate. However, during the day, there is a kids club where parents can take their kids to meet other kids and partake in adventure activities for kids only. The resort has dedicated child caretakers who present different types of activities for kids, including supervised pool parties at the kids pools.
@@CheatsheetTravel did you tip the kids club?
@@keepingupwithq7174 Thanks for asking that question because the subject of tipping at an all-inclusive resort in Mexico needs to be discussed. The simple answer to your question is you can tip if you think the kids entertainers did a good job, or if your kid was beyond happy with their performance as caretakers. However, just keep in mind that tipping in Mexico is NOT compulsory, and it is usually done only if you were more than satisfied with the quality of service. If the service was mediocre, do not tip. Also, the average tipping percentages for F&B (outside of the all-inclusive resort or for 'a la carte' service) ranges from 10% for service 'exceeding expectations', up to 15% for what you may consider exceptional service beyond the expected service standards. Also, what many guests do not know about all-inclusive resort rates in Mexico is that when you pay your reservation, the price already includes a gratuity component factored in which is paid to the operations employees once monthly. In other words, the employees at the resort are already tipped as a component of the booking rates you paid to visit the resort. This is the reason why the majority guests at all-inclusive resorts do not tip, but sometimes you will find that stand-out employee who goes the extra mile to keep you happy during your stay. Generally speaking the average rate to tip these resort employees is around US$ 5 (just a little thank you which does go a long way). Tipping at all-inclusive resorts in Mexico has become somewhat of a sensitive subject simply due to abuse and staff arrogance resulting from over-tipping. The large brand name resorts usually have strict policies regulating staff conduct as not to exploit the guests, but there are some resort brands I just refuse to visit simply due to staff arrogance. The staff at Paradisus are more professional, so tip at your own discretion without feeling obligated.
We have been to this resort 10 times. We love it.
This resort is in my opinion one of the best resorts in Cancun simply due to its location and access to surrounding attractions. Thanks for watching!
What is the sun lounger situation on the beach if your coming with kids and can you be with your kids in the middle part of the hotel where the shops and all that kind of things are?
Both Paradisus Playa del Carmen (Family Friendly) and Paradisus Las Perlas (Adults Only) have their own dedicated sun loungers sections along the beach. There are security personnel on duty at the beach to control access to dedicated areas. If your stay is at Paradisus Playa del Carmen, the area where you access the beach from the family-friendly section is kids friendly (southern beach section). There are no limits to the movement of kids along the whole beach, just basically the use of sun loungers dedicated to guests who paid for dedicated adults-only services and facilities. The beach is really long with more than sufficient space. The beach sun loungers are barely fully occupied, even during the high season period. Most guests spend their time around the pools, and not on the beach. The middle part of the resort which basically separates the kids-friendly section from the adults-only section is accessible with kids on the Paradisus Playa del Carmen (family friendly) side only. To access the adults-only side, you basically need to pass through the Paradisus Las Perlas lobby area which is monitored by security (for those occasional parents who try to push the limits with their kids). Both sides offer the exact same facilities and services, so irrespective of where you stay, nobody misses out on anything on the opposite side. Some facilities are open to all guests from both resorts, such as the water park. I hope this answers your questions.

Thank you! 😅
Ich war so etwa 7-8 mal in Mexico. Immer in Riu Hotels.
Aber Swim-up Bar, wirklich?
no entertainment?
Most of the entertainment for RIU Palace Peninsula is offered at the RIU Caribe right next door (such as the RIU Party pool parties, shows, etc), which is freely accessible to RIU Palace Peninsula guests, including the use of [most] food and beverage facilities. We'll be doing a more comprehensive video about the RIU Palace Peninsula soon. In the meantime, this video should give you some idea of what to expect at the RIU Caribe in terms of entertainment: ua-cam.com/video/5GAI3cbOqYU/v-deo.html

8:51 as an english speaker learning spanish this made me chuckle
Thanks for watching that far into the video 🤣. Yeah, some things we say in English just don't make sense in Spanish. However, same also applies to many Spanish expressions that don't make any sense in English. Spanish is an amazing language, and the best thing about it is how your knowledge expands the deeper you get into it. Learning Spanish is definitely worth the effort!
Is it easy to get a taxi or tour bus from the hotel into the city?
It's super easy to get transportation from the airport. The best options in my opinion are: - Uber (if you are traveling with luggage); or - Taxi (the taxi collection point is located right at the end of the terminal building just before the subway/metro train station); or - Subway Train (if you are traveling light without luggage, and only want to do a quick day visit in the city and then return back to the airport). Public transport busses are also available, but it is generally one of the slower options to get around the city simply due to traffic congestion. It all depends on your availability of time, and whether you are traveling with or without luggage. The most efficient (quickest and cheapest) mode of transport is the subway train, and Google Maps train scheduler is very accurate and helpful to tell you where to go, and where to change trains to reach your desired destination. At first the train network appears intimidating, but it's actually super simple when you've figured it out. Just avoid during peak transit times when city workers commute to/from work during the morning (06:00am - 09:00am), and afternoon (16:00pm - 19:00pm). Check out this video to get an idea about using the train network: ua-cam.com/video/Z3q86rQ7ceQ/v-deo.html Alternatively, Uber is your friend, or marked taxis which you'll get at the airport taxi terminal.
Yes taxi or subway metro 🚇
How far is the hotel to/from the airport and does the hotel recommend drivers to/from the airport? I prefer hired drivers.
The hotel is 24 km (15 mi) from the airport, which is about 30 min ride by car. The simplest option to go from the airport to the hotel is by requesting the hotel concierge/reception to arrange a transfer collection from the airport to the hotel via a shuttle bus (arranged at least 48 hours in advance). Alternatively (cheapest and most reliable option): Go to shuttles.vivaaerobus.com, and book a transfer directly to the hotel starting at US$ 27.00 per person. For the return (hotel to airport), just use Uber. Unfortunately Uber is not authorized to do airport collections (long story), but they are allowed to do airport drop-offs from the hotel. I hope this helps!
@CheatsheetTravel thank you. I travel a lot, so I probably know the long story about the Uber driver restriction, which is the reason for my question. 😊

Thank you, and thanks for watching! You won't be disappointed. Hilton Mar Caribe is currently one of the best value for money all-inclusive resorts in the Cancun Hotel Zone, especially compared to the resorts surrounding it. It is a resort for relaxation, not for partying. If you're into the party scene, the Party Zone is about 10 minutes away by bus or Uber.

I stayed 5days this April. It was amazing. Friendly staff and clean place.
That resort is really amazing! At this moment, the best hotel brands in Cancun are Hyatt, Hilton, and RIU, and it's sometimes difficult to choose between them. Hyatt Ziva still remains in my opinion amongst the top 5
Just an update (July 2024): The Pok-Ta-Pok ball game was moved to Parque de San Sebastián in Merida due to construction work at its old venue in front of Catedral de San Ildefonso.

Thank you, greatly appreciated 😊. Regarding kids, I estimate less than 10% of the guests had kids (even on a St Patrick's day weekend). The great part about Hilton Tulum is that it was designed with kids in mind to be family friendly, but also taking into consideration the majority guests who do not have children. For this reason, most (if not all) kids activities are concentrated at the far south side of the resort. Guests with kids are also checked into the accommodation blocks within that area, and families tend to spend most of their time there since everything they need are provided for in abundance. The north of the resort is more adults (without kids) oriented. There aren't any hard 'adults-only' zones like some resorts, but basically if you're going solo as an adult, you'll barely notice it being a kids friendly resort due to the size of the property. Hilton Tulum is probably one of the largest resorts in the vicinity. The other thing to consider is the type of guests that choose to go to Hilton Tulum compared to many other competitor resorts. I've found that the majority people that choose Hilton Tulum tend to be a bit more relaxed, same applying to their kids.
Stayed at the Conrad and reviewed it in my channel, but thinking of doing one day here next time. Did you snorkel in that bay at all? Wondering about fish 🐟 🫶🏽😀
No, I'm planning on going to the Conrad in a few months time just for the experience. It does look amazing though! When I go I plan on snorkeling the Conrad bay area too. The water is a bit more rough that side, but I do expect to see some amazing sea life there due to the reef conditions. Interesting thing I noticed about the Hilton Tulum bay is how much the sea life developed in two years since the resort opened, especially after the resort developers built the breakwater barriers which helps the fish establish themselves. I love snorkeling that bay!
@@CheatsheetTravel ooh, thank you! 🙏🏽
I luv the hyatt too. My wife and I have stayed there a couple of times. The turquoise tower experience is definitely premier
Hyatt is definitely one of the best brands not only in Cancun, but in the whole Riviera Maya. However, as much as we love this resort, we've discovered even more amazing Hyatt resorts that opened recently. Hyatt is busy with a major expansion drive in Mexico. It's like Hilton, Hyatt, and RIU being engaged in a competition to see who can roll out the most resorts. We hope to share some videos about them soon ... Thanks for watching!
What hotel is that?

Loved this video ❤
Glad you liked it!! Thanks for watching 😊
That metro should look 100 times better , they gotta step up the decor .
Watch this video to see how the RIU Caribe Cancun all-inclusive compares to The Pyramid at Grand Oasis all-inclusive: ua-cam.com/video/_lU9zs00PQs/v-deo.htmlsi=u_FVbndCBmv0urRP
This resort looks WAY BETTER than it did before the renovations. I think it now competes on par with the likes of Hilton Cancun. However, I also think that RIU can start planning some modernization of their other properties too, like the RIU Palace Peninsula next door.
Yes, the RIU Caribe is much better now than before. The food quality has also improved. I agree that the RIU Palace also needs an update. The dated red-grey-white color scheme is showing its age.
do you get free pick up from and to the airport?
No, unfortunately not. You'll need to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel, which is probably the single biggest frustration when traveling to Cancun. Uber is not allowed to collect from the airport either. The problem with the taxis are that they charge anything between US$ 75 - 100 for the 10 miles ride to the hotel. The best way to avoid this exploitation is to purchase a bus ticket with ADO from CUN airport to Cancun central ADO station (about US 10.00 per person) - which is also the quickest means of transportation to the hotel - from where you can take a taxi to the RIU Palace for around US 15 - 20. Going back to the airport at the end of your stay is simpler by arranging an airport bus pick-up with the concierge (for your expense, not free), or using Uber which is authorized to do airport drop-offs at much more reasonable rates.
@@CheatsheetTravel Thank you for the info, i appreciate it
How far is the train station from the beach?
It's 9 kilometers (5.6 mi), or 12 min drive by car/taxi. At this present moment, taxi's are the only public transport available to/from the Tren Maya station.
Thanks for the video. I agree, this resort is not as bad as its reviews. I think it all comes down to expectations. If you're used to going to the newest of Hilton / RIU / Hyatt, then you're going to be disappointed. However, comparing Grand Oasis to the bigger brands are wrong because this resort isn't competing with these brands, which also reflects in the pricing. This is still one of the cheapest all-inclusive resorts in Cancun, and I think it offers great value for money for the price. It is also most suitable for younger guests who seek a decent nightlife without leaving the resort, something I think this resort does much better than the big name brands.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I couldn't agree more. Thanks for watching!
