I got a mention, I am famous (not) great video Steve once again. Glad that you found it. We should Bottle that water and start flogging it. Apparently it produces about 15000 gallons a day.
Love this place, a little further down from the holy well, there used to be a farm. The house stood empty and abandoned for years, the snowdrops and daffs from the former garden still come up in spring and it’s lovely. I love the little archway and there are old pipes all around the weir. P. S. I walked up the brook once and it was quite deep in places.
Cheers Lucy. It's a very historic site, that maybe a lot of people don't know about, locked in by suburbia. I find that quite poetic in a strange sort of way! Thanks for watching.
@@LeiceExplore sometimes the alliums come up too! All beside the brook is paved with slabs and there used to be statues, it’s such a shame some horrible people pushed all the stone statues that were there into the brook :( but there is a still a secret path you can take and it always reminds me of the film the secret garden. So poetic in real life! I rescued small stone planter from there and it lives on in my garden 🪴 I feared it would also end up in the brook. Got a lovely carved English rose motif ❤️
Loved it Steve. There's a nice little spring/well in Blackfordby too. Fascinating to think these were one of the most important places in each village for centuries and yet we barely take any notice now. By the way, I have a spring in my garden.....
Just found you, I also am a lover of water and wells. We have a well in our back garden, sadly it’s it’s had rubbish put down there over the years (not by us of course). My fascination grew when the Wells (watering holes) were linked to ley lines and it’s said that using a metal detector along the route from one Well to the next you are likely to find old coins or trading coins. I will have a catch up on your other videos. Namaste
Hello Andrea, thanks for finding my channel. I have a well beneath a slab that I keep meaning to uncover. Maybe one for another video. Yes I find the whole ley lines thing very interesting to. A lot of interesting buildings have been built on them. There is definitely more to it in my opinion for sure. Thanks for watching.
@@LeiceExplore thanks for reply from what I know ( which is not a lot ) there should be Wells/watering holes on Ley lines. There is a Ley line that runs through the ruins in Bradgate Park so should be more Wells/watering holes along that line somewhere. Also there is often a monument, hill or something in the eye-line on the Ley line to guide people of times gone by to the Well/watering hole and trading place. All fascinating stuff🥰
Nice video pal, there is some lovely little springs in gracedieu wood which used to feed the outdoor swimming pool at the manor that I could show you one day pal.
Cheers mate! I was up there 2 weeks back mooching about looking for them in the undergrowth, it's the gift that keeps giving that place. Nice little bridge on the driveway to the school to.
Nice one steve👍i work on coalfield way in ashby near M,S and B,M, There's a Brook called coleorton Brook, runs through, The council put up some information boards about it😁 I've not looked yet where this Brook starts and finishes? Yes I've got a thing about water👍🙉🤣🤣
Nearby to the Loughborough Holywell there is another interesting old part of wood brook. Where it passes garendon green there is an old concrete section that was flooded in the summer months for a paddling pool, although documented info is sparse
I sent this video to big John daucey-Foden a large character of Hugglescote he loves this sort of stuff too. He never knew about half of the stuff you do. He is a fan now.

I certainly would agree with that amount as well from what I saw! Could be the next Peckham spring lol
I remember the Chruch well from being a kid

Thanks Chris...I actually went to the one in Blackfordby first, but I think it's in someone's front garden, unless I got it wrong.

A lovely video, aren't wells fascinating. (Catching up with your back catalogue) 😊
Thank you. They are fascinating, you won't get people travelling miles now to visit a healing spring/well that's for sure!

Hi Steve, did you ever open up your well?? Keep the video's coming all very interesting.
Hello there! Thank you very much. I haven’t opened it up as yet.

Hi Rob! I'll check it out at some point as I want to explore the woodbrook further, next year in the dryer months

Cheers Andy, I have heard of him, but I don’t know him
Reminder there's a hotel or old B&B near the monestary called Hollywell House... of memory serves me well ...
I'll be checking that out, cheers Baz!
