In the nas you have 4 drives. Put them in raid 5 or 6 and done, no need if external backup.

I love the ASUSTOR chassis, especially the 10-bay, very well designed. The main enhancement they need to make is introduction of a PCIe port..

I’m going to be buying a nas soon and am mainly watching this because I’m curious about the workflow differences between QTS and ADM since that’s what I’ve refined my hardware options to and well it sure looks like the asustor option is winning so far. This all looks very clean and more intuitive than QTS so far.

I tried following this. First I could not connect to the rsync server NAS which eventually I found was because I have to set up a specific rsync user on the target and then normal passwords are not acceptable. When I got past that I couldn't connect because I needed to create a Backup job on the target - not mentioned here.
Then it finally ran, said it was complete and none of the files appeared on the target NAS.
It claimed to have backed up form /[myfolder] to /[backup_job_name] but if [backup_job_name] is supposed to be an actual folder it didn't create it and if it is a placeholder for the actual folder you choose in setting up the backup, that remained empty.
At that point I gave up.

Great video. is it possible to create an external backup of an EZ Sync Folder?

Very helpful series of videos. Thank you.
I have set up EZ Sync so that it syncs all my work doc files in specific directories on my PC to my NAS. I set it up as a one-way PC to NAS sync. It has worked, but I notice that when I change a document on the PC these changes are not reflected in the file synced on the NAS whenever I save the file on the PC (ie. The file that was first copied to the NAS is not altered when the original is saved on the PC).
Is there a way to ensure that the changes to a document or other file are updated on the NAS whenever they are saved on the PC?

15:35 I have not been able to get this to work well. I'm a photographer and all I want the NAS to do is back up my files each time. I'm using a USB3 card reader. Each time I put it into the USB3 port and push the button, nothing happens. Seems to be a common problem.
Is it necessary to wait for the NAS to actually see each file?

Very nice and clean vid! I've just send an email (or ticket on your website) about how to set it up over the internet via R-Sync. ASUSTOR to ASUSTOR over the net. Is it via R-Sync or is ASUS to ASUS good enough? And what IP should I usetup etc? Greetings from Belgium
