The Mangaka said that the climax of this movie was his original plan of the ending of MHA but came up with something “better” so they used it for the film
I think this would've been an amazing may to end the series (considering what's happening in the manga), i just like this idea for an ending better.
Based on his constant focus on teamwork and having the whole new generation step up to take All Might's place instead of one singular hero, I theorize that maybe in the original ending, he gave his whole class one for all.

@@nflbob9814 We've been shown he had the idea to use OFA on multiple people at once, twice now between the movie and between Deku and All Might season 1-3.
You only have to ingest the DNA of a user and be willingly given it to get OFA
Also currently Shigaraki is too strong for any one person to realistically kill.
Thematically the manga has been about working together and building a better society not on the back of one super strong person but instead by having everybody step up so it definitely fits the story narratively and makes sense in that regard too.
The show explicitly criticizes All Might's ideology that one person has to be strong enough to hold up all society and hold back all the chaos, but what happened when that one person is no longer around? Shit hits the fan and society starts crumbling, which wouldn't happen if there were more serious heroes doing their part. Also look at the names of the quirks One For All vs All For One.
There's just so much of the story built around the idea of holding up society together to make it better
It would be harder to tell you how it doesn't make sense because there's not a lot of support in that direction
In case you didn't notice, the scene of Katsuma running to save Mahoro is a direct parallel to when Deku ran to save Bakugo, the white lights and slow motion everything. The kids are used to parallel the both of them, Katsuma being soft and an aspiring hero and fanboy like Deku and Mahoro being brash and thinking she knows better like Bakugo.
Edit: Also Katsuma calls Deku "Deku nii-chan/big brother Deku" whenever it says "Mister Deku" on the screen.
Another parallel that I haven't seen ANYONE bring up in any comment section is how the Detroit Smash AFTER that when Deku passes OFA off to Bakugo, disrupts the thunderstorm. It was a smash that literally changed the weather, just like the smash All Might did when he saved Bakugo and Midoriya. 11/10, this movie was on a COMPLETELY different level imo
this is my fave movie of the three. maybe it has to do that the author of mha actually worked on it more closely than any of the other movies. honestly after s5, it makes complete sense why one for all stays with deku. s6 will go even further into that understanding.
Also, my favorite aspect has to be how much growth we've seen from deku and Bakugou's relationship. Bakugou keeping in mind Deku's dream when deku transferred ofa and fighting side by side with him was everything. great progression of their bond.
I honestly love how well Izuku and Bakugo are able to compliment each others fighting styles to bad we don't see it more often lol
Deku collecting fans/protege in the future. First he got Kota, then Eri and now Katsuma.
And I don't know if you guys noticed it, but Katsuma running to save his sister is almost the same as when Deku ran to save Bakugo from the Sludge villain in first season. I definitely teared up on the scene. And the last scene, "You can becoma a hero!" All might to Deku to Katsuma.
Don’t know how many reactions I’ve watched and cried over and over again when I literally know what’s gonna happen lol
I can't believe they wasted the opportunity to have Bakugo give One for All back to Deku of his own volition because he believes he doesn't need it, he is too proud to keep it, he needs to be number one and beat Deku with his own power. I can't believe they just waved it off with basically One for All just magically bending the rules established and allowing it to happen.
They could have let Bakugo keep it for a few more scenes, let the people worried Midoriya had lost the power believe it might actually be happening, let it set in, and then have Bakugo come to Midoriya. Maybe even set some of those scenes with Bakugo witnessing Midoriya saddened but accepting of how things are, still hopeful, still smiling and helpful, but Bakugo can see the pain in his friend, and so he comes to him when he is alone somewhere and without saying a word makes the gesture to transfer it back, Midoriya of course questions him and wants to understand, to which Bakugo proudly says "I don't need it".
It'd be a neat way of tying things up, but it'd create a lot of plot holes in the coming seasons in relation to Vestiges. ^^;;
@@Kimtroverted I mean I feel like him having it should still make him a vestige, obviously not all the users had it for the same amount of time, so really why would bakugo not end up in the vestige world

Deku voice actor deserves an award because the amount emotion you hear when he says "The last" literally almost brings me to tears every time I watch it.
Fun Fact: This was supposed to be the last fight of the entire show but the writer decided to make the movie. Source: Shonen jump iirc

Just because someone looks different doesn't mean they're a monster.... that's true in real life as well as in anime. Often it's the environment that creates monsters, and if you'd watched the movie properly, you could have heard the wolf guy say that he's been treated like a monster and obviously that's why he's acting the way he does. Of course, it's wrong. But very superficial statement from you. For a deep anime that sometimes clearly and sometimes vaguely points out grievances within the world, I don't think you're sensitive enough. ^^

This movie still ranks as one of the most visually spectacular and emotionally wrenching moments in anime history (for me). The music, the graphics, the voice acting, and desperation. Right up there. I'm so glad you both liked it!

Another observation is that, Bakugo "cared" for Deku's dream in his own way. It showed when Bakugo hesitated for a second to take Midoriya's proposition.
It's not just about keeping Deku as his rival (of course it is part of it, will always be). but also about keeping Deku's dream as a hero. That's why he keeps asking about could he still use it? Or is it really okay for him to let go of his dream to win this battle?
And damn, Deku telling Bakugo how he thought Bakugo deserves to take OFA. The UNCONVENTIONAL FRIENDSHIP RIGHT HERE.

That guy is what’s called a “Chimaera.” It’s a monster of Greek mythology. The main body is usually the body of a lion, but in this movie, they chose a wolf.
Must say, its super great that you got that blue-ray sent as the subtitles have been altered a bit from since the original release. It had some pretty big spoilers in it back then, so this blue-ray version is awesome :D :D

I mentioned it in another video but I understand why you feel that way. Ultimately, it boils down to Sam and Morgan's choice. Many people, including myself, feel the spoilers are negligible and didn't affect our experience at all. The movie also came out after S4 so that was the sequence most of us watched it in. But I get it - people who watch late have the privilege of choosing to watch it after S5 and avoid any chance of spoilers at all. I personally feel it's a waste to watch it like that because Heroes Rising is so worth watching right after S4 (especially because it takes a lot of visual inspirations from the past seasons) and spoils quite inconsequentially.

. I could be wrong - this is how little of an impression the spoilers made on me. Everything on this list was pretty much a matter of time and not really a surprise for me at all.
1) Deku's quirk being sentient which was hinted at but wasn't specifically mentioned previously
2) Deku's OFA confirmed to have multiple quirks but wasn't specifically mentioned previously
3) Tokoyami's quirk letting him fly (which could have been interpreted as him riding on Dark Shadow)
4) The appearance of Dr Garaki
5) Aoyama being able to shoot lasers from other parts of his body

Some people had a problem with deku "somehow" keeping ofa, but I feel like anyone who at least saw the end of season 4 could at least guess. The thing I personally am a little bothered by is bakugo not remembering anything
I always felt a little bit unsatisfied by ofa being returned for no reason. I was expecting Bakugo to give it back to Deku at the end since it would fit his character for wanting to reach the top with his own power and also show their relationship and respect for each other grow.
i mean the reason why ofa stayed with deku can be explained later and in season 6 depending where they end the arc

the vestiges have awakened and the quirk has basically have a will of its own now
so they can stay with deku if they wanted to
also they no longer plan to have another generation of ofa as it became to powerfull and will kill anyone who gets it now especially who has their own quirk

@@Ephemerthefish2525 It's more complicated than that, but still, if Bakugo got it, then Midoriya technically lost it for a bit of time, also, if he got back from Bakugo, Bakugo would've lost his explosion quirk with it
and If not, having the Ofa passed down to bakugo, when we know that Deku can't give it because of how much the quirk evolved is a bit incoherent
One of the big draws to this film was the dynamic between Deku and Bakugo. They make an awesome duo.
Makes me wonder if they'll end up working as a pro hero duo in the future.
The end battle to this day is still the most epic and emotional moment to me in the entire MHA series. I'm sure though season 6 will change that. Can't wait to see you ladies make it to the current episodes here in season 6👍🏻🔥🔥

You learn in later episodes that the power of One for All is sentient... self aware. And the power "chose" Deku. That is why the transfer did not complete.
Doesn't All Might previously explain that you have to willingly receive it? I think that's why passing out and not remembering it works.
You guys saying Endeavor hugging his son was out of character🤔maybe, in the sense that he doesn't show that much affection but they just came out of a huge fight with someone really evil. Don't worry, you'll see more of Endeavor's character and what he thinks of his children. Remember, Endeavor's actions towards his family was never for evil intention, it was for the perfect hero which he couldn't be and his blind misguided hatred for ALL MIGHT. Just keep watching the series and you will understand🔥
44:08 Well remember All-Mite said you transfer it by transferring DNA, so Deku and Bakugo both had open wounds and just had to touch them together (which is pretty gross tbh lol) to transfer it

@@denji3397 Welp, desperate times call for desperate measures.
This movie shows so much of Bakugos growth and how his mindset changed. Especially at that time in the series and so on. His concern for Sero for example in the midst of the battle. Bakugo using actual names instead of his nicknames for people shows his care for them, or respect. I've always felt Sero and Bakugo get along well, because Sero isn't inherently loud or overly pushy. Less likely to brush Bakugo the wrong way. It's a small moment, including all of them with Deku. This was truly Bakugos movie, and shows off his character and ability. The two best rivals, their friendship, and it all keeps boiling down to something very strong and reliable.
Yeah the fact they reverse everything at the end of each movie is kinda funny. Like if they were in the anime the first two movies would have been some of the most significant events of all the characters lives and it'd be obvious to the whole class that Deku had All Might's power.
bakugo's lines are clever word plays in japanese "Sleep talk" and his "hero name" but they look pure cringe in english sub. I'm so happy they changed it in the dub.

out of all 3 movies i think this one is my favorite, even tho it's SO ridiculous that they were left on that island with no pro heroes anywhere nearby 🤣 but it was so nice to see everyone working together against impossible odds. it'd be fun to come back to this review after u both watch season 5
They could've written around that, too, by just having the pros get taken out immediately. That might have actually made 1-A's grit and conviction in the climax even more engaging.

Fun fact: the creator of MHA confirmed this movie was the intended way for the series to end entirely but obviously changed it.
I would have loved this ending tbh, right now the manga is mad rushed and unfulfilling.

Looove this movie so much, it's actually Horikoshi's (author of manga) favourite movie of the three mha movies. I loved to see every single student go all out this time and it's really lovely to see Bakugo and Deku becoming more and more understanding of each other. Idk if you know this but all three movies are canon/semi-canon as what happened in them has been referenced in the manga. Can't wait for you to get through s5, it's pretty neat that you will be finished after s6 started releasing haha.
Only this movie is semi-canon. The other two aren't ever mentioned in the manga

No the movie isn't set up in the manga. Nine is mentioned once and never again. The events of the movies are never mentioned either. They don't work in the stories canon whatsoever. Which is why small bits like Melissa may be canon but the movie itself isn't.

Saw the comments not explaining too well. This movie is canon and season 5 will explain why One For All stayed with Deku. There is an actual reason
The "monster" guy is named Chimera, because his quirk is "chimera" which is a monster from various mythologies that is some combination of animal parts mixed together.
The most famous chimera is from Greek mythology which is a fire breathing beast that is basically a lion with a lion head, a goat head, and a tail that usually has a snake's head at the end that is also venomous.
So this bad guy doesn't really have multiple quirks. He just has one quirk that does multiple things.
I don't know why people told you to watch this after season 4. I feel like it'd have been better to do both movies after 5 - they take place during the same timeskip, iirc

Yeah this was meant to be the original ending but there is a massive hole in it. Bakugou could have just given it back afterward. Its never been said someone couldn't give it back to a previous holder. Deku just didn't for All Might because his body was already basically done and couldn't even use the quirk anymore.
Tagline of this movie should be "Run, children run". Seriously, I kept yelling at them to run the hell away.... goddamn kids!!!

As nonsensical as that ending resolution was I gotta say it looks really cool, and makes me look for any fanart possible of every class 1A student holding One For All.
OFA transferred back to Deku because the previous users of OFA willed it so, not because Bakugo passes out before the transfer completed. All Might is somewhat unreliable when it comes to narrating what is happening with OFA. Same thing happened when he passed it to Deku...you don't have to take in the DNA of the current user of OFA like eating his hair lol. All that has to happen is the current user passes it to the next person and the previous users will it so as well. So the previous users rejected the permanent transfer to Bakugo because Deku only did it to win the day, Bakugo wasn't really an intended successor.
You 100% do have to take in the DNA. That's why Deku and Bakugo touched wounds. To share DNA.

It is a fact that the predecessors have control over what happens to ofa. They can keep it from being stolen or choose who it stays with in this case. We see it in the manga when afo shigaraki tries to steal ofa and the predecessors will it to stay with deku, basically saying they choose to stay with him

Jiro and Ojiro should have died when Nine used his Hydra quirk to slam them both into the wall.. especially with the speed he did it with but of course Plot Armor

The transfer happens by ingesting the DNA of the previous holder. So all they needed was for Deku's blood to get into one of Bakugo's wounds.
You'll eventually find out there is a very good reason that One For All chose not to transfer to Bakugo. It wasn't just some plot armor nonsense.
Imo this and gogeta vs broly are the best of the best when it comes to visually stunning final battles. Next place would probably be naruto vs toneri, but I don't think that even comes close to this and gogeta vs broly

I think we can all agree the shoji deserves better.
Shoji is my favorite! So seeing a comment like this is great. But he is a side character so he can only have so much screen time but when he does he is always looking out for other. He is always willing to put his life on the line for others without hesitation.
What you see of Bakugo in this movie is what they've been showing in the show all through season 3 & 4

The blue, monster- like villain is called chimera and I imaging his quirk if the same as his name. I always assumed his backstory was somewhat similar to shinso where people are like "you have the kind of quirk a villain would have" so he never really had a chance to even imagine being a hero. He also probably got judged a lot based on his looks, thus him asking dupli-arms (I feel bad I can't remember his name) if he resented his parents for how his quirk effected his body to where he doesn't look "normal". I don't think there's anything officially stated for his backstory though. This is just my guess based on what I saw of him in the movie

I love that in this movie they sneakily show the character of Shouji. (For those who are up to date with the manga) It's interesting how someone like Chimera is not the only one with a mutant quirk who seems to be discriminated against for his appearance "I'll show you why they call me a monster", as he asks and teases Shouji, that because of his quirk they probably made fun of him and others, something that is canonically proven to happen to him, an incident with a little girl being the reason for his mask. In the end Shouji shows that even with these problems, he wants to be a hero who saves and protects children with everything he has, something that this movie has is that it shows that no matter what, class 1-A really wants to be some real heroes
