I like how the coaching staff is seeking out “pieces to the puzzle”. The fact that so many players stayed is a compliment to Harper’s desire to see Lady Vol basketball continuing to move forward! It’s unprecedented in this era of college basketball to have a coach fired, yet be a voice for her team and her Alma mater. Harper is a class act!
So we have a coaching change but not a lot of drama! The new staff has done an awesome job of up identifying and signing three diverse stars from the portal that all bring something new to our team. If we could get Kapinus and Whitehorn, I think we have a chance to have a very special roster! We already do! Those two would come in and add more.
When players consider NIL funds for women basketball, the Lady Vol brand is a huge advantage! Knowing what we know now, I am very grateful for the folks that fought to keep the Lady Vol logo its own thing. That’s HUGE now when it comes to recruiting. It’s the power of that baby blue y’all!!!

I want to add this - Clemson has two decommitted highly rated players from Tennessee. Someone needs to tell Caldwell to go see these girls. If TN makes them an offer and makes a push , they’ll likely accept and these are two of the top 10 players in TN. We have to have some local players to cement the passion needed to be successful. That was always part of Summits recipe for success!
Imari Berry 2024- Clarksville is leaning towards Louisville, UK, and UNC. It would be a shame to see her get lost in one of those programs. She would be an in state treasure in Knoxville!
Reese Beaty 2025 - York Institute (Jamestown, TN) would be an amazing addition. She reminds me so much of LV legends like Jody Adams and Shelley Collier. She’s an outstanding shooter and has leadership skills similar to the likes of Jolly during her playing days and Spinderella (Marciniak). Beaty would be a recruiter with her AAU connections too! She is from my hometown, so I admit I am partial. She should win the AA Miss Basketball next year. She has helped York to the state tournament the past three seasons!

Thanks for your comment and engagement Philip! Imani is going to Louisville. That was unfortunate the previous coaching staff didn't recruit her while she was in state. However who knows in this world transfer portal there could still be a chance down the road to get these players.
