I'm surprised that there are still people who will hate this show because of their nostalgia, if you actually give the show a try you can see there is a great story here with amazing characters.
I don't hate it but I just couldn't get into it. The constant silly billy banter irritates me. Not just in this cartoon but a lot of modern cartoons. I'm not a massive fan of the art style either.
I don't think a lot of the criticism was about She-ra not being fuckable. I haven't seen anyone say that as a reason they disliked the show. But I'm sure there are a few weirdos who fancy cartoon characters.
If "Catradora" is the main point of the story you saw... it really isn't a good story. It's not an action/adventure story anymore like it was originally intended ... it's an angsty teenage romantic fan fiction. I gave the show a try... they couldn't even keep the story cohesive through S1-S5, which retconned a lot of stuff during...
I watched the 80’s version with my dad when I was 7, this new one is way better

They can't keep their characters on model... the story is not consistent from season to season...they had plot holes and unanswered questions... and the only point of this show was the road to Catradora. I guess you like the simplicity of it fine, but better than the original... highly doubt that.

legit, i watched she-ra (the whole series) and FELL IN LOVE! I've been watching it over and over because i have attachment issues and I don't want to let it go! i really want season 6 or a whole new series based on it, because i'm struggling to leave she-ra! someone help! :,(

istg these comments. This is a REBOOT. They take a similar concept and characters, then redesign them and create a new plot. I loved the show, it's a modern version to the original. People are literally calling her uncreative just because the idea 'chosen one finds a magical sword' and characters have the same names. It's nothing like the original in a good way, they aren't trying to sell to the people who watched the original, they are selling to their kids.
Then they didn't do a good job, because very few of the "kids" are trying to buy what they're selling. But the Tumblr adults can buy the toys on clearance at Target, just wipe the dust off. Or for ridiculously marked up prices on Ebay from people capitalizing that the show's over, and Tumblr/Twitter fans will pay for it. (adults...)
Guess who controls the TV and the money those kids will need to watch it tho.

Just finished this show, I've never cried so much in my life. I thought this show would be too girly for me (being a straight male) but this show was amazing. I appreciated the amount of depth of the characters and relationships and freedom of topics this show covered, very cool.
Same here.. Just finished the series.. Straight male in my 40's.. An absolutely amazing show in exactly the way that you describe. I need to stop watching it otherwise I'll just keep crying.

Her willingness to work with other artists ideas I think helped make the show so wonderful. They created a wonderful, diverse and beautiful word filled with dynamic characters. Its lovely. Also, I was really suprised to see her draw in little short strokes because from watching other artists videos I heard that you are supposed to use larger expressive lines. I have always drawn with the short strokes and have been striving to not to...now I dont know what to do! lol. I am kinda like .... if its good enough for her....lol....

I love looking back on the development of the show! It’s had such an impact on me, especially the diverse character designs. I love the art style and the plot as well, and the depth given to characters like Catra and Entrapta (my personal favorite).

I’ve been gay ever since I knew how to think, but I never let myself explore my curiosity until I was 13. I sought out representation through cartoons like the small nods in adventure time but more of Steven universe. Thank you so much for creating your show. Kids have the right to be educated even if their parents won’t talk about it. I grew up very religious so I always knew it was an abomination and not to ask about it. Now that I’ve finished the show and then watched it again 3 times immediately after the finale, I have become so emotionally attached to it that I yearn for a movie or even another season. Until then, I will attempt to satisfy my needs with the Owl House and Adventure Time: Distant Lands.

I liked the show, the re-writing of the characters is pretty funny in places, it's nice that She-ra and the gang aren't running around the jungle in 4" heels(Capt America doesn't fight in pumps so neither should She-ra), but the downsides is the animators need to step it up with the art, and I do wonder why when going from Adora to She-ra she looses all feminine form, the Ladies on Ninja Warrior look like athletic women, so IMHO shouldn't She-ra also look like an Athletic Woman? And wouldn't the 'different body types' that they are trying to show come across better if the animators drew them better as well?
She-Ra doesn't have an athletic build, she's got a dead-lifter build. She's big and powerful but slow and clumsy, and her design compliments that.
@Thee Banana Like they said, She-Ra looks like a power lifter instead of a swimmer. It fits the kind of character she is and her style of fighting in general (not to mention contrasting Catra, who *is* that type of agile fighter).
Be real... Netflix She-Ra looked like Ben 10 in a big blonde wig... she didn't look close to feminine until halfway through S5. She looked more like Young Thor or something because you'd have to tell me that was a girl and not a long-haired boy.
I guess they don't think girls should want to look pretty anymore. If you're an attractive looking young woman with any curvature to your body that's not overweight, you're an outcast in this show. It's not for you.
