    You really do give the cars a thorough testing. I love all the info and stats that you find out. And of course, "where was I....help me " to the camera. Very good reviews, Chris. You deserve all the good comments 👏 👏

    Nice video Chris, I was tempted by the Zoe due to some attractive leasing deals on these in the UK now but sticking with my ID3 pre-order.

      I had the exact same thought but Chris has mentioned several times now how bad the seats are. I'll stick with the ID3 pre-order as well and I'm very interested to know what the final UK versions and costs are going to be.

    Good review👍, although I don't fully agree with everything. I own a ZE40 R110, and before I bought it I drove a weekend each with a ZE40 and a new ZE50 R135. I really don't find the ZE50 so different to drive. You say the old one was wierd to drive. I say apart from 25 less horsepower, different instrumentation and some strange placement of some buttons in the old model, they are the same driving experience. Sure, the ZE50 is massively improved in the looks of the dash and instrumentation. The old one looks rather dated, like it was conceived in 2007 rather than 2012. I got used to it. :) Maybe ZE50 is a little more quiet. But seats, steering, handling is the same. The seats are not the best, but I don't miss any side support. It's not a car you drive like crazy in corners and around roundabout. I can imagine 90hp was underpowered, 110 feels adequate, 135 was a bit more fun for sure but not like the car absolutely needs that extra power.
    One thing about the backseat was that there seemed to be less space for your feet under the front seat in the ZE50. Maybe extra soundproofing on the floor? Definitely made sitting in the back comfortably more difficult.
    Edit: Forgot to mention the B-mode. When I drove the ZE50, it was still a bit cold. So when you drive off with a cold car, the B-mode doesn't work. Says battery is too cold, so I thought it was a bit rubbish. You want to know when you lift the foot off the pedal how fast you will slow down, so I liked the normal regen because it always seemed to work the same way, warm or cold.

    • @BatteryLife

      The z40 r110 is also already the new version. The old Zoe only had 90 Hp and that was a big difference in driving.
      Now the car is fun and the new instrument makes you feel better about driving. If Zoe than only the R135 for me.

    • @itekani

      @@BatteryLife ZE40 R90 and ZE40 R110 were sold in parallel just as ZE50 R110 and R135 are sold now. My point is just that apart from straight line performance and user interface, the driving experience and comfort was very similar in my opinion.

  • @robenglish416

    Nice test but I don't understand this crave for hp!? I just leased a Skoda Citigo-e, less than 90 hp but it delivers it directly, first off at red lights! It also drives comfortably in 120 km/h with 4 people in the car! It got more room in backseat compared to Zoe, which was the car I was going for in the first place. I was also considering a second hand Zoe 40 but now I am glad I didn't. Zoe has a bigger boot than the Skoda and longer range if that's a deal breaker for you.

      Tom Quimby Seems like Chevrolet built an ugly uncomfortable EV on purpose. Almost as if they wanted it to fail... I guess they are pinning all of their hopes on the proposed Hummer EV. Good luck to GM! They deserve to hold on to last place in the EV market.

  • @CaroAbebe
    @CaroAbebe 4 роки тому

    The seats are the most off-putting feature of the Zoe. I do like how the predecessor drives. Coming from a teeny diesel unable to cope with our hills the Zoe feels quite sprightly actually.

  • @davidsworld5837

    have you seen the 16 hrs Bjorn video on recently 16 charging stops. for the Honda E.
    you could tell it would take over 16hrs from his 660km drive.
    the zoe is about the same price as the Ioniq new version in UK but the ioniq has lower insurance rate and does more miles to a KWH. and is a bigger car.
    but that the range of the zoe at 70 mph is around 148 miles i have seen test on ioniq and it beats that with a 38kwh battery
    the real test should be cost to run. if you set Charger price to fixed reasonable amount then all car used KWH for distance can be calculated for each car and so see in some cases how much more a year the car could cost you to run

    • @EngineeringNibbles
      @EngineeringNibbles 4 роки тому

      Cost to run in general is negligible, for example at 15cents/kwh, 1000km with an ioniq at 16kwh/100km or a zoe at 20kwh/100km you only save 6€. Over a year and 12,000km it's only 72€

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  4 роки тому +1

      10 kWh more useable capacity is a lot. Zoe 52 kWh , Id3 62 kWh. 58 kWh is net capacity

    • @samirazarzar6279
      @samirazarzar6279 4 роки тому +1

      @@BatteryLife 52kwh on the Zoé is the net capacity, brut capacity on the Zoé is 55 kwh. So id3 does'nt have 10kwh more. And WLTP range is almost the same 395km for Zoé. Against 420 km for id3. And the Zoé offer the possibilty to charge 22 kw AC which is not possible on id3 even in option.
