    I love Brescia. My sister lives by Lake Iseo, right between Bergamo and Brescia.
    This city is special. I am always in a good mood when I am there.
    Piazza della Loggia is probably my favourite Piazza in Italy, but the way the evening sun falls on Piazza Paolo VI around aperitivo time is magical.
    I’ve always enjoyed this city being kind of a secret, but I think, with it being capital of culture next year, that’s about to change!! ❤️

      Unfortunately. Now we natives can look forward to getting shoved out of our living spaces, like Italians in other cities, by entitled tourists who seem to think their right to enjoy our heritage is more important than our right to live and work in peace.

      @@anta3612 write to Italian government. They’re promoting Italy. Italy loves the billions brought in … taxes are high. Would he higher without tourism.
      I met many welcoming Italians. I lived in Italy. Many places are overcrowded with tourists. Prices of apartments are unaffordable. Thank Airbnb.

    We went on a guided tour in Brecia last July. The guide taught us that when you see a monument that is made partly a brick, and partly of marble that the brick parts are new. They were put together to display the marble parts that are left. But it was interesting because in Brecia there’s so much that they had to remake that the pieces are forever gone.

    • @anta3612
      @anta3612 11 місяців тому

      They aren't forever gone. The missing marble parts were used, over the centuries, to erect nearby buildings. If you know where to look you can find pieces of the ancient Roman structures in various walls around the historic centre of the city.

    Brescia is an industrial town and has never had to rely on tourism. The reason Brescia has managed to stay authentic (not a tourist trap) is because of a lack of tourism and most Bresciani (at least the ones I know) would like to keep it that way.

      Ignoring the requests of locals. There's a reason we'd like to keep some areas of Italy to ourselves. Other Italian cities have become difficult to live in thanks to tourism. I think it's quite selfish of her.

      Brescia was under Austria at one point in history and some of our cuisine is bound to reflect that. Italian food is a lot more than pizza and pasta.

    Native Brescian here, glad that you find our city beautiful but I want to add some small corrections :
    1-Brescia actually traces back its name and its origins to Pre-Roman Celtic Cenomans who fortified its mount where now the castle stands, the archaic name of brescia is Brig, which meant hilltop.
    During the 2nd punic war the Cenomans allied to Rome and slowly were romanized despite having a temple dedicated to Annea Clivana, a Celtic deity similar to the Irish goddess Áine
    2-In roman theaters, which have a semicircular shape, no gladiatory games or bloody perfomances ever took place , maybe you're confusing them with roman arenas that have a oval shape, and Brescia has no remains or written records of a roman arena.
    3-it's not spelled "Mila Milia", the correct way is "Mille Miglia"
    Despite that great video

    So many places in Italy are already overrun by tourists and now we're not allowed to have even a small corner of OUR country to ourselves? Mass tourism creates a ton of problems and there are places in Italy that have become unbearable to live in for Italians thanks to tourists. Tourists often fail to realise that Italy isn't just a playground for their amusement: it's a place where people actually live and have to work. It's not Disneyland created for your amusement.

    • @DramaticallyExpatic
      @DramaticallyExpatic  11 місяців тому +4

      Wow so much negativity and gatekeeping! Who said anything about a playground? What's wrong with seeing a place in a respectful way? Don't you ever leave your city to go and see other places in the world? This is just ridiculous and sooo narrow-minded!

    • @anta3612
      @anta3612 11 місяців тому

      @@DramaticallyExpatic It's my country and I'm allowed to be protective of it plus you obviously have not understood a word of what I've written. The fact that you have no respect, as demonstrated by you not respecting the wish of locals NOT to make this video as well as by this comment, proves how clueless YOU are. Btw: we Bresciani are famous for our "narrow-mindedness" (don't like outsiders). Goes to show how much you know about us which is NIL!

      If you search UA-cam for Brescia, the first thing that comes up is a video by “visit Brescia” the tourism board of your city. Maybe you should inform them you are the new spokesperson 😂

  • @anta3612
    @anta3612 11 місяців тому

    So typical: you show how much you respect us by responding to requests to NOT show our town on video by ignoring us and uploading the video anyway. This shows the entitlement of certain tourists who think that their "right" to enjoy and share our heritage is more important than the rights of native people to live undisturbed in their own home. Not impressed. I hope I never run into you when I'm out and about town.

    • @dania11789
      @dania11789 9 місяців тому

      Why are you spamming this video over and over. You do not speak for everyone and your city has tourism board encouraging visitors.

    • @anta3612
      @anta3612 9 місяців тому

      @@dania11789 The tourism board doesn't speak for the average person. I'm just voicing what many Bresciani think. Locals in more touristy places in Italy are sick to the back teeth of tourists and many in Brescia aren't particularly keen on encouraging it too much in our city. Sorry, not sorry if that annoys you. Anyway the point is that this person was specifically asked (by locals) NOT to post this video. That should tell you something (if you had been paying attention). Given that she showed no respect then no-one should be surprised that this video got some backlash. Btw, who are you? A spokesperson for the tourist board? I wouldn't be surprised if the pair of you are on their payroll.

    • @dania11789
      @dania11789 9 місяців тому

      @@anta3612 where was she asked not to post the video? By you? You don’t count. And again, your city is soliciting visitors and is in a major tourist area. People aren’t going to stop going to Italy, and if that makes you sad…oh well! I live in an area with a ton of tourists and I’m happy they want to experience my city. It makes me feel proud of where I live.
      And on my next trip to lake como region, I’ll for sure be making a stop in Brescia for a stroll with my family. It seems lovely! Your comments are making me want to go there even more.

    • @anta3612
      @anta3612 9 місяців тому

      @@dania11789 "You don't count". You obviously know nothing about Italy. For all you know I could work for/know people in the local council which has the power to introduce measures that are designed to either encourage or discourage tourists.

    • @anta3612
      @anta3612 9 місяців тому

      @@dania11789 Typical entitled attitude. That's exactly why some of us don't like tourists. Some visitors are respectful and are welcome but then we get those who aren't (who have an entitled attitude: we don't owe you anything). Unfortunately we can't choose which type of tourists will visit. I personally invite people I know to my town and I enjoy sharing it with them. That's a different issue. Anyway, you too have shown yourself to be one of those with no respect. Sorry to inform you but as someone who pays local taxes and votes I do count. If things get out of hand hopefully we'll manage to persuade those in charge to introduce a hefty tourist tax! Knowing that there are people like you among those who visit ruins it for everyone. Btw: if you were paying attention in the video she says she was asked not to post it and for all you know I may have been one of them. Good for you if you are happy to live in a place with many tourists and are proud. Not everyone is the same. Also, Brescia was selected as the culture capital for 2023 which doesn't make it a major tourist area. We've never been a major tourist area and hopefully never will.
