I think this was the best review review compared to the other press reviews. Awesome job.
I had a 2018 MT-10 and this bike after an exaust change is one of the best sounding bikes ever. Its fun and comfortable and with the tech upgrade over the one I had makes it even worth while. I sold my MT10 and bought a ZH2, no regrets other than I miss the sound, but that supercharger makes up for it lmao. I loved the way the old MT10 look, but I'm not too sure I like the new look.
Totally agree, with all apart from comments about the H2. Here in the UK, the Police have used quite a few H2s for undercover operations and the maintenance problems and cost are horrendous. The bike maybe quick(I have ridden one), but it's also heavy and doesn't handle as well as an MT10, but the thing about us bikers is, that very few of us all like the same thing and long may that continue. Enjoy your choice.
Hats off to you for getting all the little nitty gritty details correct, right down to the gearing and tank part number. Im onto my 3rd mt10 and know these bikes inside out. Nice review.
Can I ask why your on the third lol. What happened to the first and second? I’m considering buying this bike but hoping it will last
@@2wheeladdict12 I sent one into a ditch then sold the second one when I lost my licence for a year with the plans of getting the 2022 when I got my licence back haha
Amazing review, very well done, definitely the best review of the MT10 yet... I'm sold I want one. The sound this bike emits is pure music to the ears. The CP4 kinda sounds like a European V8. I rode Harley's for years then switched to an R1 then a 2nd gen FZ1 which I converted into a full naked before Yamaha offered it that way in the states. With my own design billet gauge mount and aftermarket billet headlight components it was ahead of it's time and after riding R1's with all that top end the FZ's torque on the bottom was a blast on the street. But even with every available engine mod it still lacked some grunt and the refinement of modern tech. Then the FZ10 arrived but I wasn't a fan, too transformer looking for my taste. Fast forward a decade and this MT10 comes along with Killer looks and amazing refinement just as I am becoming increasingly bored Resto-Modding vintage metric bikes. The fun of these old bikes is in the build but with parts becoming increasingly hard to find as are good projects to start with it has taken the fun out of it, and then there is the lack of desire to push these old clunkers past posted speed limits. Even an old biker still needs the thrill of massive torque, flick-able handling and awesome braking....I'm thinking I need to make some room in the stable
I love naked bikes, but I really wish that Suzuki would bring back the SV1000s with direct injection. It would be sick! The slipper clutch in the SV1000s and reversing the shifter for GP shift made banging gears simple.
I would never buy any bike with direct injection
Very good job on the review!! One of the best if not the best I've seen
This is the best review I've seen of this bike, by some distance. Great work - Thanks.
Wow! Amazing review. No other UA-cam video covered this bike in the detail you did. From describing the new electronics menu.... sprocket change... new seat etc etc. I'm on an FZ-10 and about to trade it in. My choices are a 2023 MT-10....ZH2...or CBR1000RR. Insurance wise the MT-10 is a no brainer. The other two are awesome but my insurance per month almost doubles! Can't go wrong with the upgraded MT from what I've been reading and what is confirmed on your vid. Saved money will go towards vacation. ;) Thanks!
Best explanation for MT10 2022 I ever got 👍🏽 thanks brother
Keep the amazing videos coming Alex!
Nice job Alex! I changed my mind. I think the piece of cake is going to have to wait! I am after all a rider. Pretty simple math on the price! Sound is sick. For me the tuning fork company is all about handing! That would get me in that seat!
I'm picking mine up on Saturday. Woohoo!
Excellent review, I purchased a 2023 MT10 and I love it. Had three MT09 previously and it was time to upgrade.
It's not an 'upgrade' just a different bike. Would an MT10 be an upgrade from a Tenere for off roading? It's lazy English. Bigger is not better just does a different job.
@@RadarsRadicalRidesI have to disagree. Mt125, Mt07, Mt09, Mt10. Are all linked and not only by name, and the 10 is the top of the tree. The tenere is not remotely linked and this is where the term upgrade wouldn’t have been suitable. But from an 09, I believe he was correct in his statement. That and the fact I’ve also owned 3 Mt09s and now an Mt10. I agree with him. It is better.
While in motion, certain angles from the front remind of the gen 6 R1. That CP4 sound is as intoxicating as Aprilia's V4.
I'm picking the standard model up in the coming weeks and sticking an additional 6 litre tank on the back in a top box. That way, I'm comfortable for touring but have maximum satisfaction!
Love the sound of the cross plane . We probably passed you guys on our crf300l as we live and ride in that exact same area!
Numbers make sense for the different mode settings with larger numbers being the most intervention for that specific function. I think as screens get larger they'll have more real estate to potentially name them.
great review, much better than others i've seen, well done.
2 years later i can say the matte black is now a rolling swirl mark. just in case anyone was wondering. If you walk up to one in a dealership, buy a brand new microfiber, spray it with quick detail and wipe it once... its now scratched to hell lol. it looks good from 10 feet away though. Also the fuel gauge is useless, watch your miles, if you hit 120 miles on the tank; time to fill up because you have a gallon left no matter how you ride.
Nice bike, looks like an alien from the front. Wheel color not my first choice but I'm old, blacked out for me. Thanks for the great review.
Interesting to see your take on the new MT10.. I have had my 2018 MT10 for 4 1/2 years now and 3 weeks ago, I borrowed a 2022 model from a dealer and within a few miles, I thought that the sound had been spoilt by too much induction noise. It seems, that the engine/exhaust sound(which is what originally hooked me onto the MT10) has been muted and replaced by a greater induction noise. The down change auto blipper was fine, but I've never had a problem with manually blipping on down changes. You kept showing the TFT dash in close-up(understandably), but when riding, I found it too small to read things like the clock and so much info. on there, I suspect the vast number of riders will not need most of the functions available. In the UK, the power is being quoted at 166 bhp, so 6 more than previous, which is always to be welcomed. Lastly, I think the side view looks unfinished without the previous pieces of styling panels. I still found it impossible to get a good view from the mirrors, as they are tucked in and too low. Mine, has two extensions on each side and give a perfect rear view. I also have a screen, comfort seat, handguards, which make the bike the most fun on any bike I've ever owned and there have been many over the years. This is over a 55 year period of Road racing, Drag racing (CBX 6 Turbo) and 100s of thousands of miles of riding both here, in Europe and in the Cascades and BC. My view is I, personally prefer my MT10. Had I liked the new one more, then I'd have bought one. I liked your video, even if I disagree with parts of it.
Very nice review! I have a 1st gen MT10 and love it. I previously owned a MT09 but didn't like the uncomfortable seat, bouncy suspension and quiet exhaust note. My MT10 sounds amazing and is comfortable for long rides. The power is amazing. It helps to be an experienced rider because this bike really accelerates hard and wants to wheelie all the time. Can't overlook the Yamaha reliability compared to some of the other Euro brands.
I have a GSXR Hayabusa I was thinking about looking at Mt 10 do you think it would be enough for me knowing what bike I have I'm looking for Comfort but I want enough power as well as speed And are oil changes easy to do on that bike Hayabusa there are pain in the ass taking a fairing off and everything's is tight.
@Joe I'm in Connecticut I have a GSXR Hayabusa a generation 1 I'm a little worried I want to get up like that's more upright this bike is destroying my body even with the risers it doesn't matter it's still too low but the only problem I don't want to get sick of a bike I get I want more than enough power for low end but yet still top speed at least like 170ish they don't let your tests bikes at the dealership and in Connecticut it's a very small state no samples so they just have to either order it I want to just order and be unhappy with it do you think you have a good enough top speed knowing what I ride the Ducati before good bike but overpriced in my opinion Kawasaki supercharged 1000 still kind of expensive and with a supercharger I don't know the reliability five years from now it will cook the engine anyway how's the torque and speed at the higher RPMs does it have a good top speed
I started to get a tingly hand from riding a sport bike so I switched to uprights. No problems. They wont let you test an MT10 as it's too mental. Easy oil change BTW. Just be sure to torque the oil filter to 12 ft lbs. I tried hand tight it it leaked. Need the proper oil filter tool.
@@richardcerritelli9657 ... and stick with the recommended oil which is 15 -50 full synthetic. You can buy it from Yamaha.
I was just on NC 215 (opening scene) last week!
We need a modern FZ1 with that motor. It deserves some decent wind protection and clean up looks a little 😉
Mate, this bike is ugly. I love the concept of the MT10, but the designer can’t be bothered to go to work. YUK. Oh, but its full of really good electronics hahahahahah
Good job Alex ...
The sound on this one is a "cleaner" growl, but the older one was louder, had the same CP growl, but also had a goosebump producing organ like wail that this one is missing. Great looking bike now that I am used to it. I got mine in the conservative black as I wasn't sure I could come to terms with the "Cyan", but now I kind of wish I got the flashier one.
I ordered a black one too. September delivery. I have a chubby.
Maaan, excellent review, thank you. And the mt10, as usual, a beast.
wicked awesome job man!!!
Thank you. For your knowledge... dave AZ
Please review the new Ducati Streetfighter V2. I wanna know how u guys compare it to this MT 10.
Great detailed review!
Dude my buddy had a 19 MT10 he and I did roll races in every gear 1-6. I have a 16 S1KR I beat him in every gear, super close. I have better brakes and electronic suspension !BUT! His bike sounded soooo sick! BARKED LIKE A KILLER ROTTWEILER for the price probably the best bang for the buck SUPER NAKED.
Really an excellent review! Thanks for the detailed explanation of the many menu settings. I agree that the numbers are a bit confusing at first. Can’t wait to finish the break in period and add an aftermarket exhaust/dyno tune
Good review.
I hope they put this dash on the 2023 T9gt instead of the mr magoo dual clock face. Speaking of the tracer I find it odd Yamaha does not follow suit and offer a Tracer 10gt? not to mention a R9 which would bo SO awesome! then there would be an R version, and MT version and a Tracer version of all three CP platforms CP2, CP3 and CP4
Seen straight from the front it kinda looks like the first R1 crossplane
I’m pretty sure the spike doesn’t have power modes, rather throttle sensitivity modes.
Tell yamaha to send one of these closer to me. Lol I keep calling every dealer around me (Huntsville, AL), closest one is in Jonesboro AK.
The 1st gen also has a tubular subframe. Just a little reminder
These going for ~$17,000+ out the door here in Ca.
What's wrong with the fuel gage ? It's not 3/4 . You just have to interpret it correct . Follow the curve to get it . 🙂
How does the number of teeth on a sprocket has anything to do with suspension??
Is it worth the upgrade from a mt09 also I see all the videos of the 2021 mt09 any change of the 2022
Hi sir what about ur fuel consuption on test ride? Does yamaha decreased the consumption on new mt10, on old gen it was around 9/10 lt per 100 km
Yamaha's idea I think with the fuel guage is the bottom segment is the "reserve" amount as opposed to the other 4 being safe amount of fuel? Its like that last bit of fuel you are really not supposed to count on using? On my T9gt the gage shows empty when the low fuel light comes on EVEN THOUGH there is still an entire 1.5 gallons (up to 75 milres at 60mpg on the highway) If this is like the 9gt then it has "fuel consumed" reading which is accurate and what I use to see how much of my 5.2 gallons is left)
The main gripe people have is that it's not a continuous display, 100-51% is 1 display segment, so one second it shows 100% with really a 51% full tank and the next minute as half full. What they're doing would make more sense if they had 10% or 25% discrete segments in the top range. But true using either trip miles or fuel consumed is a better stat to have on the cluster for tracking your fuel. Most people are used to just the motorcycle having an old school low fuel indicator on the cluster and we get by fine.
And they are still doing the same single light thing. I don't get why they can't have both lights on.
They say that oncoming drivers can mistake the two side by side lights on a bike as a car, but at a greater distance.
@@travisray139 It's about being more visible but yet they ony lhave one light on.
Man, wish I knew you were in my neck of the woods I could have shown you some truly epic roads. The Blue Ridge is great but there are roads 10x the Blue Ridge for riding motorcycles in the area.
Than buy the black one!
Yamaha needs to consolidate that low/high beams! 🤮🤮
HAPPY MONDAY..HAVE A BEAUTIFUL DAY EVERYONE..
Great review, thanks! I'm 45 years old with only 1 year experience on a Moto Guzzi V7. Do you think I can ride this bike safely (in rain mode) ?
Yes
@@disaffectedmale Thanks, much appreciated!
You can ride that bike in any mode. Your throttle hand is your riders aid.
Very VERY, good review. I will most likely be getting one in February. Possibly sooner if i can talk the wife into it. Only because I already have 4 sitting in the garage 🤣.
This is one bike that REALLY needs to have a "GT" model. In it's current form (here), it's simply a day-tripper. There's no carrying capacity, wind-protection or ANY under-seat space at all, even for a TOOLKIT, which Yamaha doesn't provide anyway. Nice bike... but I can't drop Big Dollars on a sunny-day only bike.
I am looking to go multi-day tripping on this bike - Yamaha allegedly has ABS soft side cases for this model.
those headlights look angry!
I miss the days when motorcycles looked good.
I'm glad I'm starting on this bike I just turned 18 and I'm getting my license in a month
Please be careful and responsible. That is A LOT of bike for your first bike.
Love the bike, but absolutely hate the looks. Wouldn’t stop me from buying one though. I just wish it has the same engine config as the R1 so it was better at the track then with the street config. I get it though.
Maybe I'm a mushroom but I'd cut the lights and go for it. Love the concept of controlling the riders throttle from my cheap android. Very dark!
The front of this bike looks like a praying mantis !
Hmmm... Tfl bike. I like their other channel
This bike cost over US $ 27 000,- In my country. So sad 😞
Which country?
Great bike, but that color scheme screams 'I don't know what look you were going for, but you missed.' Give me the all black please.
Well looks like a decepticon ex bumblebee
Still the old MT10 was a raw hooligan it just wanted to pop the front wheel in air, I think the this has less power.
So to me, most of the super-naked bikes look like bugged out aliens with their headlights and front design. To me, the MT-10 looks like an owl with one eye closed. I'd rather have an owl looking bike than some buggy looking alien. But, why can't these bikes stay true to "old-school" motorcycles in some way? Honda did it with the CB1000R. Maybe I'm too old now... I don't know.
I can't buy a bike with teal colored wheels.
Yeah you can. It's for sale.
It’s not Teal… it’s Cyan.
@@twistieslayer3592 Sorry. I stand corrected on the particular color value.
I did and hated the Damn wheels. Even all my friends said hateful things about them. I decided to put some red wheel stickers on them hoping it would tone down all of the teal. Well I can now live with them and oddly enough I've had people say that the wheels are really good looking.
@@davidleonard8369 The only thing that is important is if you like the look. Good that the stickers worked for you!
I'm not a fan of the tiny headlights and the fact that with the low beams on only one side is illuminated. I ride during the day with my high beam on hoping cagers will see me. These tiny projector beams don't stand out in traffic and that isn't a good thing on a motorcycle. I do think the overall looks of the front end is an improvement over the old model but it still isn't great. The price increase is a bit steep in my opinion. Had they also upgraded the suspension it would have been more appropriate.
For the money, the power the electronics all the aids it has is well worth giving up looks. You won’t see me flying by you anyways lol
That is way too much technology on a motorcycle.
Mode 1 - A and everything else off. It's a mt10 for fawk sakes.
SO Ugly! Why can't they put s rounded headlight like they used to do back in the 70s?
I really want an mt-10 over an mt-09. I just don’t think I can get passed how ugly the front of the mt-10 is
Setting + Menu = Metting
The new MT 10 has 166 HP Not 160 HP !!!
I have a 07 FZ1. Love the sound. The crossplane engines sound like garbage. Gotta have a flatplane crank. CP sounds like it's about to break down. I'd take a new MT if it had a flatplane crank.
165hp
Wow that thing is ugly. Come on Yamaha, give us an XSR 1.
would not buy it for the looks!
This guy sounds exactly like snowcat
That MT is just too ugly to even consider the specs. The wheels are a deal breaker.
1995 wants their fugly colors back.
The engine is awesome but the gearbox sucks, only suitable for circuit driving. ☹
Hideous bike
Utterly. Why would you buy a bike this ugly?
Bought it cause its a ugly.
@@Ukmongoose3looks nice not ugly
Its only a subjective comment.
Ha ha all the ktms are butt ugly and they are the same colour as black and decker tools
