THANK YOU! Just got my 2023 R1250 RT two weeks ago, was feeling a bit overwhelmed with the tech and was frustrated trying to find things in the manual. You saved me a ton of time and frustration! Saving your video and subscribing.
Hmm, looks like it's giving conflicting directions at the 14:53 mark we see it's advising us of a left hand turn or curve? in 200 ft (totally missing the hard right hand curve that precedes it), then it shows a right hand turn onto 260th street in 400 ft? Or what?
I don’t think BMW got it wrong. The GPS won’t tell you to turn right because the road is turning itself, no choice to make there. It will show you which way to turn when you have to make a choice. The instructions on the right matches with the arrow on the path shown where the other road meets the blue line and you have to now choose to make a turn. In this case it’s left. All GPS systems work the same way. Hope this clarifies the guidance system.
Haha 😆 yes analog gauges do have their own benefits. What I loved most about digital one is that the tachometer redline shifts depending on the engine temperature so total newbs can prevent damaging the engine.
Thanks for the video. The RT is a wonderful bike! I was sad to move from the older version of the instrument panel - I really liked the "live data" feature (1 second MPG indication) to see what cruise control was doing. And it responded far faster. But the other functionality of the new is nice.
Agreed it’s a fantastic machine but it’s not perfect like all other bikes. One of the best things that happen to this bike is periodic software updates. If we as a community keep suggesting features via Connected app you may get more features added to show on the display. I’ll be posting a video outlining some feature adds I hope it gets shared enough for BMW to notice it. Thanks for taking time to comment. Please consider subscribing 😊
Had a ‘17 RT then bought a ‘21 last year. Due to the connection issues experienced by many I’ve watched many videos on the TFT. Yours has been the most complete, straightforward and ultimately most helpful! Now I know how to display the analog gas gauge on the top line display! Have you done a similar video on the BMW Connected app?
Thanks for the feedback. I greatly appreciate it. Yes I’m planning to make one for the connected app. Was gathering all the tips myself before I make one.
Yes navigation is possible. You need to download local maps to your phone through the app. Then your navigation will continue even if you lose network connection.
Hey dude, thanks for the helpful video. Can I ask what sort of media app you are using. I use Spotify but can't see playlist and any other sublist on the screen. I can only play and pause what is already playing on the phone. Thanks!
Thank you! 😊 I used to use Apple Music. It shows all playlists and songs on the display. Sorry never used Spotify so not sure if all functions can be controlled via TFT. At least I don’t see that now for YT music.
Absolutely wonderful video. Outstanding. I just recently had my radio installed, is there a way to have the sound volume rise as one is riding ? Someone had told me that this was possible. Thanks in advance. Gregg from Carlsbad
Did you get a radio in the US? I have the radio prep waiting for the radio option. Does the radio installed allow you to use the NAV and phone without a headset?
Hi Gege, not sure if I understand your question. Are you asking how to see current fuel consumption while you are riding? If yes, trip 2 can do that for you. You can also reset trip 2 to auto reset each time you start the motorcycle. There’s an interval when it clears.
Yes you can change/skip music, control volume if you have BMW comm in your helmet. For others you cannot. You can change destination on map. Zoom in/out. Access motorcycle stats. Some settings grayout as you start moving but you can still change riding modes. Can turn on/off ACC. Change information displayed on the split screen.
Yes, I agree. I’m so used to CarPlay now. I sent app developers email to overlay weather alerts and weather data on maps. I think that would be useful.
Great presentation! Thank you. You are much more familiar with the TFT settings and functions than my dealer. I recently purchased a 2022 BMW K1600B Grand America about a month ago. I cannot figure out how to make the Navigation "Spoken Instructions" work when in map mode. Can you please tell me if you are using an Iphone? It looks like it in the video, but I want to be sure. I have the "Spoken Instructions" marked yes in both the Navigation settings and in the BMW Motorrad Connected app settings. Oddly enough, I was able to get the "Spoken Instruction" to work when I am not in map mode. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the feedback, greatly appropriated. Please tell me how your audio is connected? I connect my phone to bike and then 2 Cardo units to bike as helmets. I hear music via bike and so do the instructions. Works with and without the map mode on.
@@ninerpeak Thank you for confirming that everything should work with an Apple Iphone. I went out to my bike and did a factory reset, and I did the same thing on my BMW Motorrad Connected app. Once I re-set everything, it all worked just fine. Now if I can learn the system as well as you know it; that is my next goal.
Very good informative video on display. BMW will unlocking two more modes after 1st service in GS. Check if you have more modes after your 1st service or not.
I don’t own this bike but I do have a K1600. Dynamic damping doesn’t mean it adjusts. Dynamic in BMW terms means sport mode usually. Unless they changed something with this bike it just means it’s going to be a stiffer ride. So if you see dynamic that means it will be set up stiffer or throttle will be more sporty. Like the cruise control had comfortable or dynamic. Meaning it will accelerate leisurely or fast.
Media is the song library on the phone that shows under Music app if you use an iPhone. Spotify didn’t start from the motorcycle but I could use the wonder wheel to skip songs. To start playing you have to use phone app.
@@ninerpeak Thanks for the feedback. while this is a great dashboard, there is always some fine-tuning that can be done. personally I'd like to see this type of music apps fully integrated somehow (maybe a software update?) as I listen to music almost all the time while on the bike, and I'm pretty sure its not only me :P
Haha! Yes I will one day upgrade to a K bike. I also totally agree with you. I just don’t understand why BMW couldn’t find place in the huge K bike fairing to add that small ACC unit. It’s literally a small box under the headlight.
Nice video, thanks. What type of phone do you have, and have you run into any connection issues? I'm hearing lots of reports about connection issues between the phone and the TFT.
Hi thanks for watching and response. I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max, I do not have connection issues with the TFT, never lost connection with it yet while riding. I recently go Cardo headset. It works well with TFT but then I cannot use all the Cardo features. Next step will be to try using it without connecting to the display. I read somewhere online that people with TFT connection issues needed to update their firmware version from BMW.
@@ninerpeak Good to hear! Yeah, when connecting the headset to the TFT you lose the voice assistant commands. Hopefully BMW can add an option to the firmware to allow this.
Yes sir. Everything works fine when connected to TFT. Music stops auto starts after the call. Can put call on hold and mute. Skip track, skip forward backward. All works even when the GPS is on.
If you trade in you can save tax but you need to negotiate better. If you list it you can still get a good deal. Unfortunately you will generally see some loss selling a motorcycle early with low miles. Also any accessories are worthless when selling early too. Sorry man. May I ask why do you want to sell?
GPS signal is independent of the cell coverage. To use maps with the bike you need to download specific regions on the connected app. I have all the nearby states downloaded so I don’t have to worry about downloading them while I’m riding.
Sorry, I thought I responded on this. No elevation info. Bike does record elevation though. You can see it in the app when you relay the ride. So I guess a future update can display it.
That’s a bummer. May I ask if you have android or iPhone? Also what if you change category for BMW Bluetooth connection on your phone to car stereo, does that change the behavior?
I've watched probably over 50 videos and this HANDS DOWN the best out there! Thanks!
