I like how you did a final pass with the smaller bit around the edge deeper to affect a darker outline when you added the epoxy. Gotta remember that trick.
It was around 6mm deep (1/4 inch) as I recall. You could see a bit of the wood through the epoxy, so if you wanted to have a bolder colour I would add more pigment or do a deeper inlay.
Beautiful
Thanks!
All 3 look quite good, but I think the "outline" lacks a bit. Just my opinion.
Thanks! I agree it wasn't my favourite of the 3.

Beautiful job! Thanks for the video.
Appreciate the compliment. Thanks for watching!
@@mccrone Great Job! Was this a special kind of epoxy?
Great work, they look amazing.
What was that in the tub that you used to finish them?
I'm guessing mineral oil?
Yes, it is. These days Ive also mixed some melted beeswax into it.
Can you share info on the CNC router? Cost, model, etc. Thanks. Looks great.
It is a Shapeoko 3 with the Dewalt router. It cost around $1200 USD but I got the router free through a Black Friday deal.
Those are bad ass, gotta try this now. Thanks for vid!
Thanks! You should definitely try it. Thanks for watching!
Great video. How deep did you router out?
Thanks! I believe it was only 0.2 inches.
Nice work; How deep did you do the inlay routering?

@@mccrone Thanks! I'll give it a try.
What grit did you sand the epoxy to? Looks great!
Thanks! I sanded to 320 dry and then used a 1000 micro mesh pad on the epoxy.
Great Job! Was this a special kind of epoxy ? @Derek McCrone
It's a food safe (once cured) epoxy I get at a local dealer. It's their in house brand.
@@mccrone Thanks! keep up the good work!
