Hi Maven thank you so much, is it possible to see this info when we download the excel usage reports?
Not possible using this function
Hi Greg, Thanks for this video as I have been needing this functionality in M365 for a while now. It would really be nice to have more videos about the functionality available in the "Manage Site Features" area. Thanks for all the videos you do - they are very helpful!
My pleasure!
Thanks a lot for the video Maven, I want to ask what if the sharepoint website visitors already in thousands or more? Can we still access all the names? and the date they visit our sharepoint site?
No, this functionality limits up to 25 users, I believe.
Maven, Thank you for that video. It came in very handy for me today! Even a year after you published it.
You are welcome, happy to hear!
@@SharePointMaven with that guidance I was able to create a how-to user guide using PowerPoint 7 slides. The tenant at my client is a little bit different and the ui's are different than they were one year ago. So I had to make some updates.
Thanks for posting this. Once you activate this option, is that info only available to site owners or can everybody see who viewed a doc/page?
You are welcome. If I am not mistaken, only site owners can see this information. But probably worth doing a quick test/check.
Hi Greg,
YOU ARE THE B.E.S.T ❤❤❤❤❤ thank you !!!😁
I have one question : do you know if I can extract a viewer report of the whole sharepoint ?
Thanks! I know. The only way to extract a report across all sites would be to use the Audit log feature in the Compliance Center.
@@SharePointMaven I saw your vidéo about this few minutes ago. The Audit log features does not exist anymore 😭
@@shanyjop It does. They moved it.
@@SharePointMaven 😯Lovely! 😁have your already recorded a video about it?
@@shanyjop No
Thank you so much for showing this. However, I have many many files and I want to see viewers of each file. Is there a faster way for getting this information instead of clicking file property one by one? Thank you.
No
Can you see who saved a copy of the document?
Not with this functionality.
Hi Greg, thanks for video. It is possible to download this data into Excel or directly to Power BI?
I doubt it
Hi Greg, this is very useful! Do you happen to know if there's a way to see all the viewers, not just the most recent 25 who viewed the document/page? Thank you!
Thank you, Sandra. 25 is the limit. not aware of other ways
@@SharePointMaven Thanks!
Great video! One question though:
Is there any way of viewing site/document visitors from more than 7 days?
I am in the situation of needing a list of doc viewers from the past month.
Thanks!
No, there os no such capability to track via a range of dates
Anyone knows if this is possible fetch from outside the view in the card. A popup card of who has seen a page/file is great and all, but for larger environments I might need a list of who that have seen what. Can I get the information from Graph? Can I use auditlogs and log analytics for this purpose?
This is outside of my expertise.
Thank you for sharing this!
Is there a way to show this in a new column? I would like to upload 200 photos and see which one is most viewed at first glance...
Bo, this is not possible using this feature. I am not aware of a way to achieve this OOTB.
Going for a long shot asking this question, but sadly have not been able to find a clear answer anywhere else. If a user performs a search and the page or document is displayed in the search results as a thumbnail ... does that count as a view of the page / document? Would it show that the user "viewed" the document even though they might not have actually viewed the document, only had it listed in their search results as a thumbnail. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
From what I understand - no. This will not count unless the user physically clicks on a document.
Thank you for your content. I didn't know about this feature. It would be nice to be able to access this metadata through workflow also instead of just the UI. I do get customers asking about this, so now I am better equipped. Thank you
Awesome, happy to hear!
Absolutely, have you found a way of exporting this information rather than just having an image?
Is there a way for the site/file viewers to only be visible by site owners? I would like to enable this setting, however, do not wish for all users to be able to see who accessed certain files or pages. I followed the second part of the guide on your website where you uncheck 'Let site owners choose to display the names of people who viewed files or pages in SharePoint' but now I cannot see the site viewers myself so it basically turned off the setting completely. Appreciate the help, thank you!
I doubt this is possible. I think it is all or nothing
@@SharePointMaven Ok, thank you for the response
Hi, I shared the link to the document with all the people in my company and sent it via email. A few days later, when I went to the "Details" of the document and checked the "Has access" section, I noticed that there were a couple of people who aren't part of my team. Does this mean those people opened the link and viewed the file? If so, does it also mean that nobody else from the company, outside of my team, has viewed the document?
Yes, it means that the link was shared with other people and they viewed the file
@@SharePointMaven Thanks!
great info. would be also great to pull this to Power bi to check the details.
Agree
@@SharePointMaven can you please make a vid about it too?
Thanks for the content Greg. I'm wondering if there's anyway to get the number of views for a post using power automate or alternatively via graph api. Im looking to build a Power BI solution.
You are welcome. You would need to consult Power BI experts on this, I only focus on SharePoint OOTB
I have a similar requirment can you please tell me how did you do that??
Thank you Maven! Is there a way to create a public share link for a file that requires the user to enter their email address to access it? I have clients that need a file but it would be nice to see who has downloaded it but not require a password. Note that these are people outside of my company/organization. thank you!
I am not aware of such capability
Hi
How to know who downloaded a file from sharepoint via directed access to or via a shared link. Is there an audit log report for sharepoint
Yes, in Microsoft Purview
Thanks for the video, its a real shame that this data is hided behind a UI . There are issues like if there are a lot of users, and you want to know when a document was viewed despite that data obviously being available. Also this data is not available for document while they are in the recycle bin. So if you have a situation where you have exposed information its impossible to see confirm if people have seen it without re-publishing it.
True! Good points, Dave
Is there a way to find the viewers of the yellow folders or does it just work for files and documents ?
This only works with files, not folders
Could the file log display an access without the file being truly opened?
No
Thank you for this! Very useful!
My pleasure! Happy to hear!
suppose i have 5 documents can i create a analytics page or is there any way where i can track all my docs viewer in a single page please reply if anyone knows anything.
Not possible OOTB
@@SharePointMaven can't we use any third-party api to show that
@@amjedhussen2963 You can.
@@SharePointMaven can you suggest anything to achieve this thing using 3rd party api
@@amjedhussen2963 I have no knowledge of 3rd party API
Also to note, If more than 25 users have viewed the document / page, it only shows max 25 names.
Thanks for clarifying!
Very helpful! Thanks for sharing 😀
My pleasure, thanks
Super helpful thank you Sir.
You are welcome!
