Mary tells Arthur to run away with her and not look back, similar to how Arthur tells to run away and not look back. It’s almost like Arthur is telling John to leave the life as an outlaw and live out Arthur’s dream. 😭

“All them bullets shot at me, all them horses threw me, all them fights and it was the beating of that pathetic little fella Downes that killed me. I reckon,” Arthur Morgan
Arthur's story is so great because of how human, how relatable it is. Arthur Morgan has done bad things, and he knows that. And we know that, but we also see that he's a caring, kind-hearted person. He and we aren't really sure where to put him on our "morality scale," if you will. His life, like our own, is not so clear. Was he good? Was he bad? He was both and riddled with regrets. In this way, Arthur really I think carried a lot of the fears we have of our lives, our future. He was mislead and foolish in his pass, and maybe the bad things he did were more than just foolishness. But in the end, Arthur tries to do good, to show love to some people and help them escape the life he's fallen into. He does one last loving act. And whether or not we know where he is on that morality scale that we all carry, I think we all agree that he got redemption. He became a better man with courage and honesty. And that's a future we all want, redemption for what we regret. RIP Arthur.
I don't totally agree. I mean, he's definitely bad. He made some good actions in the end of his life but he never actually stopped making bad things (murdering, for example) The interesting thing is what you said, he's human, full of contradictions and paradoxes. He definitely earned the Redemption in the end though. It makes you think that if he survived and wasn't sick he would lived a peaceful life

“I’m afraid.” Is the most human and amazing line in the whole game besides “You’re my brother.” The whole game had culminated into those two words and it hurts so much to hear such a good man say that he’s afraid.
18:58 when Dutch stared at Micah he finally understood he was wrong for the first time, he saw that Micah was a traitor, but Dutch was never strong enough to admit he was wrong
And to hammer home how much 40 grand was in 1899 that's like telling your gang we got 1.3 million in the stash but we need more money. If the Gang knew how big of a piece of shit dutch was they'd of bounce right at the first. Uncle hit the nail on the head Dutch wanted to be an American King and have blindly loyal knights follow him.
I was suspicious the moment he never let anyone see or know where the box was. It was like Dutch wanted to money to himself as much as he was wanting everyone to escapen
I really wonder where those gold bars came from. In the whole game, almost all Dutch's plans have failed. They only get a few thousands from the Cornwall train, and another few thousands from the oil factory. Dutch must have enough money for Tahiti plan even before the game started.
The fact Arthur gives up his happiness to be with Mary because he'd rather John get out and be with his family is literally the most selfless act in the whole game, amazing stuff!!
I love how Dutch’s character works. He’s a strong leader, forsure. But if you take a look at his character from a windows eye in, you can see how his mental instability combined with his leadership skills leads the gang into more and more turmoil and chaos. But In his mind, it’s what’s right. But Arthur sees how he changes and he uses every ounce of power with the time he has left to try clean up Dutch’s war path. He recognized how his blind following has been apart of the problem just as much as Dutch and Micah is.
Every time I hear Arthur say ‘I’m afraid’ I tear up a little. Seeing this character that we’ve seen as strong the whole game appear weak for the first time, it breaks my heart a little.
"We're more ghosts that people" always feels like so much loss with a few words. The idea of what could've been made of both Arthur and Sadie had life not steered them in the direction it did
17:55 when he says that hes afriad, the look in his eyes is unforgettable, you can see him forcing his mouth shut and frowning to stop himself from choking and crying. the detail in this game, im going to cry
The "we're more ghosts than people" conversation went different in my playthrough. He asked Sadie to help John, Jack, and Abigail get out instead of getting out with money.
@@anxiousearth680 he meant that if he tried vengeance for his father (killing Arthur) that he will kill him. Then his mother will stay in mourning (in black) on his behalf (for her son).
When he said that "I'm afraid" I realized his time was getting closer and I felt it in my chest! I got so attached to Arthur and his growth as a character that it hurt me knowing he would inevitably die! 😢 Rockstar really made it with this one! My favorite game ever!!
I want rockstar to do another prequel with Arthur in his younger years so I can cling on to Arthur just a little longer but I know this will cancel out the impact from his sacrifice 😭😭
SpaceDawg007 a prequel where you play as another character but when they die you play as Arthur for the prologue just like in this one and the first one
It’s insane how so much backstory into really understanding Arthur and why he is how he is at the beginning and end of the game at least on high honor is in one optional conversation with Rain falls
The way his VA did his voice, it just matches so well with the situation every time, its minute adjustments like these that bring games closer and closer to real life
I love the subtle touch during the train station scene. After Arthus says "My path is coming to an end", you notice Reverend subtly scoot away from Arthur. He tries to do it in the nicest way ever while still trying to protect himself.
Seeing this made me realise a lot of the dialogue changes from having high honor and low honor. In the final mission Arthur says “it’s of no use to me anymore” to John when he gives his hat, high honor it’s “it would mean a lot to me”. Phenomenal detail
Arthur Morgan is my favourite fictional character of all time. It genuinely pains me that his life didn't turn out quite how he wanted, despite him being able to set others up. Red Dead 2 is an amazing piece, I've never been so invested and emotional about something that isn't real in my life.
I love the mood with the mrs downes collection at #10. The music in the ride, Arthur’s bluntness and detached coldness, the dialogue and sound quality. It’s the peak of Arthur as the ‘villain’ in the story, regardless of which type of honor play through you’re going for. It’s great
Underrated but when he’s talking to John On the bridge and John says what about loyalty, the line “be loyal to what matters” that one hits me close to home
Y’know, I actually kind of liked reverend Swanson’s speech and what he was trying to say. Even though you get his dialogue if your dishonorable, I really liked his message. He was trying to tell Arthur that, maybe it’s ok if things don’t change; maybe it’s okay to die a bad, crazy person.
I know it's year old but you don't get Swanson speech if you dishonorable, only if you don't help brother Dorkins (or something like that) and sister Calderon, you can have high honor and talk with Swanson
@@Kalorak111 Yeah, I had forgotten to do that side-mission early on and wouldn't you know it; I got to the mission where you have to run away from the army and send the captain on his way and I found Swanson there. I felt like I made a mistake, but seeing as it was new content to me at the time I enjoyed seeing him. And it felt a lot more fitting for the closing of the story as he spoke directly about the gang. While I enjoy Sister's speech better considering Arthur's character, I feel like you need to speak with Swanson at some point. It's not something you can really brush off.
The elk's call at 6:59 is extremely symbolic imo. Elks used to signify endurance, which that's exactly what John and Arthur did. The constant antics from Dutch made their loyalty be tested and in the end, it endured. Could be the call was random, or it was an actual thing in the real scene. Either way, the way it sounds after Arthur reminds John that they endured and never changed is incredible
At 13:00 when Reverend was saying "I know" about Arthur being sick, it was such a nice detail that he was scooting a bit farther back so he didn't catch it.
I still get emotional when Arthur says to Sister Calderon "Im afraid", and that genuinely honest and sad face holds for just a few moments, it just hits me like a ton of bricks every time.
"There's always another goddamn train" It's all serious, but I love how the line is delivered. Roger Clark really makes it sound like Arthur has done a lot more train jobs than we've seen.
2:05 The first half of Dutch’s line starting about here is memorable to me: “We are dreamers in an ever duller world of facts…” I think most people come to feel that way at some point. If you live long enough in this world, which doesn’t take as long as some might imagine.

18:58 when Dutch stared at Micah he finally understood he was wrong for the first time, he saw that Micah was a traitor, but Dutch was never strong enough to admit he was wrong
Dutch is always talking about money when he has a lock box with 40 odd grand
He was a snake since the start of the game

I guess you could say he redeemed himself
19:18 the moment where dutch died inside, realizing he was too blind to see reason and costing his son’s life for that
I love how Dutch’s character works.
I insist rockstar to bring Arthur back
Insist?
Yeah...INSIST
@@jasongamekiller7455 He insists upon it. Insists!
Bunch of people are signing so that you can play as him after the game
Hopefully they go single player dlc and make under nightmare 2
Every time I hear Arthur say ‘I’m afraid’ I tear up a little. Seeing this character that we’ve seen as strong the whole game appear weak for the first time, it breaks my heart a little.
Perhaps, in that moment .... he was the strongest he’s ever been.
“You know the only thing that mattered to me was loyalty, it was all I knew”

Arthur Morgan... definitely one of my top 5 anti-heroes of all time.

Because he had low honour
The "I'm afraid" line gets me choked up every time. The facial expression is beyond magnificent for displaying the pain and emotion Arthur is feeling.
Every time I see Arthur put his hat on John and put his hand on his shoulder... It's too much. :(
"Maybe I'll keep in her black on your behalf" .....Man thats cold lol
He knew what the boy had in mind
He’s a real savage tho

@@anxiousearth680 he meant that if he tried vengeance for his father (killing Arthur) that he will kill him. Then his mother will stay in mourning (in black) on his behalf (for her son).

When he said that "I'm afraid" I realized his time was getting closer and I felt it in my chest! I got so attached to Arthur and his growth as a character that it hurt me knowing he would inevitably die! 😢
Rockstar really made it with this one!
My favorite game ever!!
I love that the sister took away almost all of Arthurs fear!
He even writes it in his diary
Huge character developement there!
I want Arthur to narrate my life.

Its different dialogue. It depends on your honour and what side Missions you have done
This is low honor lines. Some arent different regardless of honor, but many of them here are low honor

@@lukeharman7054 he’s saying everything authors says is iconic and memorable
I love the subtle touch during the train station scene. After Arthus says "My path is coming to an end", you notice Reverend subtly scoot away from Arthur. He tries to do it in the nicest way ever while still trying to protect himself.
Seeing this made me realise a lot of the dialogue changes from having high honor and low honor. In the final mission Arthur says “it’s of no use to me anymore” to John when he gives his hat, high honor it’s “it would mean a lot to me”. Phenomenal detail
PRETTY BOAH? YOU KIDDING ME, PRETTY BOAH?
Arthur Morgan is my favourite fictional character of all time. It genuinely pains me that his life didn't turn out quite how he wanted, despite him being able to set others up. Red Dead 2 is an amazing piece, I've never been so invested and emotional about something that isn't real in my life.
"I'll keep her in black" is such an amazing threat, one of the best I've heard in a game.
My favorite quote was when Arthur stated "this gang, the bond we share, is the realest thing to me, I would kill for it, I'd gladly die for it
"-and I still would have left you here if Charles hadn't stopped me."
“Despite my best efforts to the contrary, it turns out I’ve won”
Arthur Morgan 1899
Y’know, I actually kind of liked reverend Swanson’s speech and what he was trying to say. Even though you get his dialogue if your dishonorable, I really liked his message. He was trying to tell Arthur that, maybe it’s ok if things don’t change; maybe it’s okay to die a bad, crazy person.
It really isn't and that's a poor and lazy excuse to not even try to improve oneself.
19:06 That really hits you in the soul.
Tbh you can see the regret and fear in dutch he knows he messed up thats why he shoots Michah lster he planned it all from that very moment
What about?
"$5000 dollars? For me? Can I turn myself in?"
Greatest game of all time
I still get emotional when Arthur says to Sister Calderon "Im afraid", and that genuinely honest and sad face holds for just a few moments, it just hits me like a ton of bricks every time.
"There's always another goddamn train"
It's all serious, but I love how the line is delivered. Roger Clark really makes it sound like Arthur has done a lot more train jobs than we've seen.
"Be loyal too what matters'' great advice right there 💯
