From what I'm seeing relocating to Ghana as gotten easier now than last two years becuase of the huge support network in Ghana from the black expat there. The landing have gotten softer now.

The real question is, 'why are Ghanaians leaving Ghana in droves?'

What I’ve noticed is it’s a lot of older black folk moving to Ghana and they are just taking their savings over there and don’t understand foreign exchange 1 usd is equal to 10.00 ghs that’s not really a far stretch of the dollar. Secondly Jonita was right the “UA-camrs” sell this dream like it’s Lala land and your gonna be rich here, if you don’t have a remote job or business that’s consistent your in for a rude awakening. 💯

I have been living in Ghana 6 months out the year for 2 years. Year 1 was horrible. Year 2 is much better. But I’m leaning towards not calling Ghana my permanent home. I will give it to Year 3 to see if I will stay or leave. It’s not easy to live in Ghana even with money. Still I cannot see me living in Ghana without remote work. It’s far too expensive for the quality you get in return.for me Ghana is like a bad relationship, you give more than what you get back in return. I rather live in USA than Ghana. I have lived in other countries and this was by the hardest to adjust to. I 100% agree with what OSHAy said. I also feel like Ghana is over hyped. A lot of people that come here have not lived anywhere else and they think this is where it’s at and it really isn’t. There are 53 other countries in Africa. And many of them you dollar with go much further. A lot expats in general are leaving Ghana l. It’s not just African Americans.

Whew this is a good video. Look I am AA and I know people who were living in Asia, Kenya, & Tanzania and thrived. Now they are in Ghana and flopped. Accra is a scam with those Miami prices sorry. They say the rest of Ghana is great though! I know ppl who live 3 hours from Accra and pay $1500 a year for a huge house, opened 3 small businesses and love it! So I think y’all should be specific. It’s not Ghana! It’s Accra!

Shout out to the Bag Family as being one of the groups that came to Africa and became a SUCCESS! Despite all of the HATE and FALSE accusations from "jealous do nothings" they made it!

To live in Africa you need multiple streams of income. Growing up in Nigeria my mom had her regular pay/ salary from her job. She then helped expats find rental homes for a fee, also had a catering biz targeing weddings, sold phone cards ( this was in the 90s) to her co workers, and when she traveled abroad she bought and sold ladies work suits and shoes for professional women. When she was lucky which was far between she got little contracts from the local government to supply either office supplies or make gift baskets during the holidays. She was always networking to get her clientele.

Great conversation. I have lived in Tanzania for going on 3 years now. I did not plan far ahead but God has blessed me with creating a business in 2021. A consultation business. Not stable income, but I decided to get a roommate to assist with my bills and I have some savings. It has not been easy to be honest but it is worth the struggle to find my way. I am a solo traveling single woman. Good topic

Ghana is a beautiful place. Beautiful ppl... But it's not Africa like that, they are as western as any even with their native cultures. If a person is going to move there, they need to have plenty of money or a serious plan with good ppl already on the ground. Now, if you can live off grid, farm, build, and your just a go getting survivor? Ghana is for you and you'll live your best life. ❤

What you all fail to mention is that real estate and rental prices were raised quite a bit when they thought a lot of African Americans were going to flee from America in droves, and when that didn’t happen the prices went up even more. Also, you didn’t mention the attitudes of some Africans towards African Americans like the young lady on your panel who said, “now all of a sudden they want to be Africans”. They were already Africans. You just never acknowledged them as such!

Any black person raised in the west who went to Africa to try for a new life. I have the MOST RESPECT FOR THEM. Because to have that mind set alone is amazing, so many of our people are happy having the euro boot on their neck at all times.

Lol this woman was shittin on AA and Ghanaians for monetizing the travel sector then immediately says she has a $50 e book on Uganda travel!😂 The root of all this criticism is jealousy!

We need more videos like this so more african americans can prepare properly. So they get a realistic idea of how to integrate and what that process is like, and not simply the dream side of it.

It’s really simple why African Americans without a consistent high end income don’t make it in Ghana. It’s called inflation. To put it in perspective, the inflation rate in the United States is 4.5%, and our Federal Reserve is willing to go into a recession in order to bring it down. Ghana’s inflation rate is currently 41.8%. Factor in the limited infrastructure, predominant cash based economy on top of 41.8% inflation, and you can see why people struggle there.

African Americans leaving Ghana in droves !!! Is that a statement of fact or conjecture. Do you have any emperical evidence to suport your claim. Extensive research, managing your expectations and being resilient is very good.
