Bud, I appreciate the time and effort you put into this review. I have been on the fence on getting the 130 and you made my decision much easier. Vibe should hook you up with something. I also subscribed. Straightforward, no BS, and honest review. So I look forward to more.
Reel Fishing thank you very much it means alot! Yeah I have reached out to Vibe before but got told in November they vote on who they want feild staff, maybe if enough of my veiwers reached out to them and said hey y'all need this guy, they might listen. Thanks again
You all prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Dakota Kamryn Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I bought mine April, 2017. Love it. Reversed my rudder spring immediately; therefore no cleet loosening. I only fish lakes. As you say: the weight and wind are real issues. For me, a set of wheels was mandatory- I am 70 yo. I may add troll motor for wind recovery. The front handle screws loosen regularly, not so the hatches. Stickers do not stick. The boat is holding up well. No real maintenance concerns yet. I fish 3x a week. Thank you for the review.
Great video, I've owned my Sea Ghost 110 for 5 years and have made many mods and fish in lakes, rivers and the Puget Sound. I looked at kayaks for over a year before deciding on the Vibe, a decision I still do not regret. I was so impressed with them I drove 350+ miles, round trip, to get it as no one in Washington sells them. If and when I decide to upgrade it will be to a Vibe with pedal power.
I loved my vibe but upgraded to a old town sportsman 120 PDL I have a video review of that as well. It was a game changer! and the biggest advantage it has over the vibe shear water is the instant reverse, just peddle backwards! also the props are only $9 and easy to carry a replacement.
Good info. I have the same yak in ghost camo. We share the same issues and likes with this vibe. The very first thing to go south was the red ball, then the cables , and lastly the rudder. I cut the bottom out of the hatch. Replaced the straps on the lid with a hinge for more reachable storage. Only other mod was I added a pvc rod holder using the two built in rod holders above the rear hatch. Pretty sure I'm about to throw a trolling motor on it .
Nice review - even 2 years later! I now have the 2019 Vibe SG130. Rudder cleat is still an issue. Pedals are still stiff. Center console is new but the latches were not quality. I replaced them with rubber cooler latches. But still a great kayak. Thanks again.
I have the Sea Ghost 110 (2019) The first thing I did was reverse the spring on the rudder. It stays down on it's own, and if I hit something, no problem, it gets pushed up and comes back down on it's own. When I want to pull it up I use the pull cord and lock it in. Why the factory doesn't do it this way I don't know.
The rudder on my two Perception/Wilderness kayaks doesn't have a spring in the rudder. I would just remove the spring. I would replace the rudder steering twine/string(?) with stainless metal cables that don't stretch. I noticed in other videos most Vibe owners replace those steering cords first thing. Great video /review! Glad the kayak is working out for you!
For the rudder string sliding issue I would just put a plastic spring toggle on the line to keep it from sliding in the catch. Then you can just adjust the toggle on the line as needed
Idk they may have changed it but on the rudder cable latch system that you mentioned failing it looks like their was supposed to be either a knot or a bead system that you pull up and over and that prevent it from slipping Through the teeth even if the lad a little arm you had to move with your finger to let it sit back in the groove when putting it back up you’re right their has to be a simple way to fix such a small miss engendered part
I take mine out almost every weekend and beat the heck out of it for the past 2 years. Only problem I have is just like you said the rudder won’t stay down. Great review thank you sir just wish you had a fix to show us about the rudder
Im going to buy a small zig zag cleat that should work just fine. some folks say if you call vibe they will replace it with a new system, guessed they watched the video lol
Guys its super simple to reverse the rudder spring, once reversed you dont cleat it at all and if you run over a log it just snaps right back down no prob! It is a must do mod!! Only time i cleat mine is transport and storage
Great video... thanks for taking the time to put this together... really appreciate it. I just bought a 130 and look forward to a lot of lake and river fishing up here in Illinois... and will definitely keep an eye on the trouble spots you've pointed out. Enjoy the rest of your summer and be safe!!
Vibe adressed some of those iusse the rubber on 2020 and 2021 has a pin that holders it on. The handles got improved and The center console got new latches as did the front hatch . At least on the 110 I'm assuming the 130 too. Keep in mind this video is two years old with the old Gary latches which got replaced .
@@DinsmoreOutdoors easy way too tell the old console had a strip those get replace with two samll compartments and the front hatch cover got resigned too. vibe has pretty good customer service if you have any problems
Love the review, thanks! After a ton of looking and research, I just got my Sea Ghost 130 on 6/20/18. My rudder - the spring slips out because the plastic is soft, and it won't operate the rudder - I got to mention it to my dealer this week. Personally I wish Vibe had used a (replaceable) bungie system to auto-swing the rudder up/down, rather than that clock spring. And the free paddle sucks. But otherwise I'm tickled to death with it. I hope to drown many worms on it (and maybe someday also catch a fish).
I agree Jeff, the yak it self is a very nice yak just needs some tweeking and I hope Vibe comes across this video and reads the comments so they can address the issues
Thank you very much! my first kayak was a pescador 120 basically the same kayak you got, loved it! it was a great first kayak to get me into kayak fishing

That PVC rack you have for holding up the kayak. Did you build it of buy it? If you built it can you do a video going over it? Or if you bought it where?
Can you wrap and tie line around the rudder string just in the spot where you need it to catch the cleat to make it thicker, thereby grabbing the cleat more firmly? Great review! Thanks.

it just kinda worked out that way haha, the way my land is it is long and narrow so had to do the same with the pond in order to get 1 acre, anything over a acre your permit cost go way up! the deepest spot is a trench that is 18'

hi there! yes I have frog fish for bass standing up and havnt had a problem setting the hook, but once I have the fish hooked up I sit back down to fight the fish and get him in the yak. Like any thing else your gonna have to get a feel for the yak, like what you can cant get away with, so try a couple test runs just standing up, or for smaller fish like bluegill.

Dom Bogey I had the riptide waterhog. I replaced the Paracord with metal braid leader I got from Bass pro shops. I used 180#. It made a huge difference. Rudder turned left and right so much easier. No stretch in the line kept the pedals level.
I plan to buy the same model soon. I think it weights about 75 pounds. I want to use my car rack for it but I'm unsure if it's too heavy for one person. Any thoughts?
Why did you decide on the 130 vs 110? I want the 110 because it's lighter but I want to take it out in the ocean. Are there any drawbacks to the 110 vs 130.
I would try to put some 5200 or marine grade silicone around the base of it and see if it still leaks, that may fix your problem and if it still does then yea I would give Vibe a call.
I recommend you check out how to adjust rudder cables on you vibe kayak. Looks like you have too much slack in your lines. I just watched it before I watched your video. Great video, I sub your channel and look forward to seeing more of your videos.
i have before like I was saying the line wears out and the springs are not as stiff, so I have to just keep messing with it a lil each time. glad you liked the video and thanks for subbing!
Great review. My 130 should be here next week. I know it's late in the season but $100 off is a good incentive. Please do a how to on anchoring rigs and technique. On the hatch bolts backing out try loosening them several turns and then use a Q-tip to put blue Loctite or marine sealant into the threaded end of the hinge. It has worked for me in other similar applications with bolted hinges. Here's a suggestion for the rudder: Bypass the cleat altogether and install a U-hook to catch the pull ball in the down position. Here's one I found on Amazon (no information on the material or if rust resistant): www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Tornado+00500+Small+U-Hook Thanks, Glenn
Thanks for the vid.. I haven't bought one yet.. seriously thinking. I have been using a Perception Pescador 10foot for 7 years on the Chesapeake Bay.. great kayak but it's been like being in a Gemini space capsule with all my gear. don't know if I can post a link here but there's picture in the following link.. mychesapeakebay.net/kayakfishing/imageshonga/beverly.jpg 1.) Wind.. you say not good.. speed wise.. or are you getting blown around. I saw a couple of vids say good speed in the wind 2.) Rudder... you might try a cam type catch... for the line.. I use one for my anchor line when I am moving around a lot (quick release etc).. expensive but good. 3.) Waves on the water.. on the Chesapeake we get waves.. my kayak goes through them very well.. your opinion on this kayak and waves. Well.. if I do get this kayak.. considering what I have done with the 10foot, all that extra space I can't imagine what I will add. Thanks for your time creating the vid and input to Vibe from a serious user. Tight lines ! Rob
Rob MyMetroFun-com thank you Rob! 1) wind, just slows you down more paddling against it than the current in my opinion. 2) I'm getting a zig zag cleat to use. 3) takes waves very well, I call it my lil battleship because it looks like one as the front end smashes the waves
The TAX MAN🤣. As I call HIM, THE MAN IN THE GRAY SUIT. He almost got ME one time while I was wade fishing. Literally almost run me over chasing my catch. Had to throw away those Wading trunks.
for me if your paying over $1,000 or have it on a trailer your defeating the purpose of having a kayak IMO might as well get a skiff. Lot of folks got em though

My brother sails a bunch and spoke about jamb cleats being tricky due to line thickness and density(squish).
.

Just made it the anchor rope part. Your rope is way smaller than the rope that I have. My rope stays in place pretty well.

Yes and it handle big water pretty well
Why did you decide on the 130 vs 110? I want the 110 because it's lighter but I want to take it out in the ocean. Are there any drawbacks to the 110 vs 130.
More stability and tracks better if longer length
Like what John said wanted a more stable kayak and have more room for storage
Pull red ball forward take marker and mark spot and attach small j hook. Problem solved

I would try to put some 5200 or marine grade silicone around the base of it and see if it still leaks, that may fix your problem and if it still does then yea I would give Vibe a call.
What is that holding your fish lip grips?
It's a kydex holster for it, I have a video for it on my channel, think it is under my kayak playlist
We’re are you from?? I see you use vexan rods as well I love them I own a bunch
I'm in Nassau county FL, I'm field staff for Vexan I love them as well. Nice to meet a fellow snake head! 🐍
@@DinsmoreOutdoors I thought you live in Dinsmore a neighbor lol
@@jimpruett4005 I grew up there off trout river, and when I got home from a deployment I moved up to Nassau, no more land I could afford in Duval
Great and awesome video brother

Good job!!
thank you very much!
Great Video and Review 👍
Thank you very much Steven!
Smashed the like button just for that weaties comment!!! Lol
Hahaha thanks!
Thanks great review.
Thank you very much! do you own a vibe?
No I actually went with a nucanoe Pursuit. Vibe seems like a really nice kayak but I have no local dealers.
I dont blame ya, one of the reasons I have a vibe. There was a dealer in town that sold them and they had a good sale on them
Great review!
Thanks brother! good to hear from ya! glad to see your still turning out good vids yourself!
Love my Vibe and great review.
Thank you! Love mine too! its a great fishing kayak for sure!
@@DinsmoreOutdoors do yall take in in the ocean?
What stock color is that?
Think they call it green camo, they have blue, orange, white and black and green like I have
Awesome video. thanks for the in depth review. "Better eat the Wheaties" LOL! Subd ya bruh.
Thank you very much! Very happy to have ya as a sub! Glad you enjoyed the video
Here's one I found on Amazon (no information on the material or if rust resistant): www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Tornado+00500+Small+U-Hook
Thanks,
Glenn
for the screws im gonna add blue lock tight on it. and for the rudder im gonna use a zig zag cleat
Dinsmore Outdoors They used to make a "cam and lever" cleat that would probably work but I couldn't find one online.

1.) Wind.. you say not good.. speed wise.. or are you getting blown around.
I saw a couple of vids say good speed in the wind
2.) Rudder... you might try a cam type catch... for the line..
Wow!!! I would have too haha. Glad your ok!
I've owned a Hobie Pro angler 14 and ocean kayak trident. Non pedal = not worth buying a,yak unless your getting it for $300. Imo
for me if your paying over $1,000 or have it on a trailer your defeating the purpose of having a kayak IMO might as well get a skiff. Lot of folks got em though
@@DinsmoreOutdoors totally agree. When does a kayak stop being a kayak?
If you don’t like getting wet, kayaking probably isn’t for you....
Think winter time friend, water gets cold here in the states
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
