Why can't they just say "prostitution"? The term "human trafficking" is misleading, just like using the term "bias crime" for "hate crime". These euphemistic terms are not helpful at all to the public discourse on these issues.
Because there is such a thing as adult, consentual prostitution; there is also such a thing as involuntary, servitude based sex work, AKA human trafficking.
We used to live in SW Portland. My HS daughter was approached at the bus stop by someone we believe was someone sniffing around to see if she was vulnerable to his coaxing. She got rides to school from that point on.
When I lived in San Francisco black pimps would hang around the middle school trying to get girls to work for them. At recess the teachers on duty had to herd the girls away from the fence so the pimps couldn't talk to them.
What’s happening on 82nd with the prostitution isn’t sex work it’s literal human trafficking. Those women are forced into that and if they try to leave they could be potentially killed! They’re promised this life of nice things but little do they know they’re totally not in control of their lives anymore and bought out. If you think human trafficking is okay in anyway. There’s something seriously wrong with you.
Legalize, tax and regulate sex work. It will never end. Sex is good and the shy and desperate need it. The sex workers were there first, surely. But it shouldn't be around schools.
Yes, per the comment below - prostitution! These are different. And, as a society, we waited FAR too long to address this. As we do, essentially, regarding everything. Hence, the problems/issues become overwhelming in magnitude.

Perhaps reevaluate your voting choices. Most people refuse to accept their part in enabling acceptance.
How does holding a sign stop human trafficking? Remove the reasons people do it in the first place.

when you refer to sex work as "human trafficking", it desensitizes people to actual human trafficking.

To be fair, the jack shacks were there LONG before the high school.
I know a girl from Portland who wants to be out there not every one is trafficked sad but true and she has a baby
In case you are confused, this is about prostitution. For some strange reason, someone decided it was politically correct to call it human trafficing.
They are one in the same goober
They are not the same thing.
When a pimp gets ahold of you, you are trafficked. Your location is tracked by the pimp. You have no freedom.
