We have two here in the South East. I was at Rail Live this year with that machine. Ours in the South East at Horsham perform very well.

Great video - I’ve been intrigued by these maintenance trains - I’ve seen one in the yard at Horsham (which has some weedkiller trains etc as well) - great to look inside, thank you.

Good video very interesting, I wouldn't mind an apprenticeship or work experience on the railways

Given that this train operates in the UK I have to question if saying 480v tools and 110v tools were used was a mistake. 480v makes sense but nowhere do we use 110v.

Stated in multiple sources, maybe just an option which isn't used

Interesting, thanks! How are the rails below the floor loaded?

Not 100% sure, but if I was to take an educated guess, they would place the rails between the running rails, drive over them and then pick them up from the work area. There are retractable lifts on the sides, but they're used to load tools and equipment

How does that overhead crane work if they're doing stuff on a curve...? Or does it just not?

Good question. I imagine it would still be able to operate to a point. The red rails between the 2 carriages seem to have a bit of play in them.

Like NR maintains anything! Weeds and litter galore, not to mention the graffiti…
