- Your First Guitar Lesson SHOULD'VE gone this way... but it's ok I'll make this easy for you.
I go through these basics with all of my guitar students to start off whether they are beginner, intermediate, or advanced. And I tell you this can be quite humbling for some "advanced" students and it really sets beginners off on the right foot. If you subscribe to the techniques laid out in this video, and are ok with really eating your vegetables for the first couple days/weeks, guitar will be relatively easy and I guarantee it will at least be FUN. Because you'll sound good. Goals will be attainable. Music will make sense. It won't feel like you're just floating out in the ether. I have seen this work time and time again and while this is by no means the ONLY way to get started playing the guitar it is a way that has worked really well for my students and gives you a lot of control over both your hands with which we can add/subtract/divide/multiply/do whatever you want to later.

Yay I'm glad I intuited the holding the string further back with other fingers while playing to sound more smooth. Excellent explanation of how to read tabs. I didn't feel like I was ready for that but seems easy enough.
