i used this tool on a Fire HD 7 2015 but no matter what is do nova launcher is not set as default? any ideas on how to fix this? there is any way to clear the default browser or anyone knows the default name from the fire launcher so i can clear its default? @Jonathan jones
@@miguelrivera144 You can try changing the launcher directly through the Custom Launcher option in the Amazon Fire Toolbox app, see if that fixes it for you
@@JonsTech i used the toolbox following your video in mu Fire HD 8 8 gen and work great, but when i did the same process in the fire 7 HD 5 Gen , but on the custom, launcher install when i pick nova, i got 2 options downgrade fire launcher or launcher hijack i test both but i got the same result , nova gets installed but i can't found a way to set it as default. do you know what is the kindle launcher name so i can try to clear the default and add it to nova ?

For those of you watching this around Oct 14, 2020, my installation got stuck while installing the Switft Key when using Version 9.0 on a Kindle HD 10. The Kindle would say "Fire is Starting" but would hang there. I then downloaded version Version 8.2 from the XDA website, and it worked just like it is shown on this video.
I had a similar issue but managed to get Swift Key working. However, I am unable to install Prime Video or Netflix through Play Store. Prime Video gives "Can't install Amazon Prime Video" message and Netflix doesn't appear when I search. I've tried browsing Play Store through Chrome but the Netflix page says device isn't compatible.
I can't believe how easy this was and how well it works! Thank you. I had google apps on my Fire 10 in the past and it was awful, I had to go back to stock kindle OS. No more of that. Its like a new device! 🤘

Great video, I got one of these tablets for my wife and I just installed & setup google play services & play store within Amazon's launcher... But my wife quickly got sick of it.. When she couldn't even have multiple app pages. (let alone the app drawer being gone and so so many other things) Just did this & she'll be happy with the tablet now!

I tried this on a fire 7 9th gen and after removing all amazon apps the tablet got stuck on "starting fire" and it never loaded.. had to add amazon stuff back and remove manually... but was not able to install the launcher which is what I wanted.
Download the 7.1 or 7.2 version. I had the same problem when I tried to use the 7.3 version. This happens because the nova launcher does not install after removing everything amazon in the 7.3 version.

I had the same problem but thank God I solve it, so you go again to Manage everyting amazon and click restore everything amazon and put manual, then chose whatever you wanted to restore and automatically you will see it again :)

This Works!!! The only problem I have is that I can't download Amazon prime video via play store or the Amazon shopping app. Do you have any suggestions? I don't really need the apps but I would like them on the tablet. It just crashes everytime I try to open it.

Good tool. It's what I use. I have the Nova launcher and the play store which work well until Amazon updates. Then it's a matter of a few seconds to get rid of the Amazon junk. I liked your video.

I have a fire 7 16 gig that can support a microsd card up to 512 gig, if i use this technic to transform my tablet into a android tablet, will it still be able to support the same card or a smaller sd card ?
That is a function of the operating system (android) and shouldn't be disturbed by uninstalling applications. I did this 5 years ago on 2 earlier versions for grandkids to play with - both working fine with expansion cards to store music & video files while traveling.

the launcher is great but the one thing i would like in the launcher is a lock screen so you don't have to download a separate lock screen to be able to change wallpapers

im having a issue it all worked.. but now on the home screen of my tablet is just keeps saaying "fire is starting..." aand i cant acess no apps or nothing
Thanks very much mate! I cant say for sure if its faster, but it should help because we're turning off some of the Amazon background services which take up the tablets resources. You want to turn off the updates, otherwise it will revert back to the normal Fire OS and install the Amazon apps again.
I'm sure this will work good, I've been having a problem with discord on the tablet so lets cross pur fingers it works ill send the updates and maybe even some photos tmrw.!
Would it work by simply downloading the app Downloader straight onto the tablet. Then, get FileLinked & open Tech Doctor's store. He has the tools & launcher... no need for a pc? Thanx. Keep the vids coming 👍🏻
I am not sure what a different launcher does is a launcher like a type of windows or Firefox and google are to a home computers? does this launcher allow you to ad apps such as Spotify, and other music Software making apps as well as have file managers available. Using windows 10 now for music and DAW systems, so not sure what a launcher does compare to what it comes with. Can someone explain in simple terms I am no computer wiz.

All done on HD8+ only problem is Google chrome won't turn on sync, press I'm in button, but nothing happens.

Not too sure, you could try downloading just the Amazon App Store and installing it through that?

Just ordered a fire hd 10.. want to use it in my car as android tablet.. but would be handy if i can keep alexa too... what should i not disable to have this to work?

the launcher is great but the one thing i would like in the launcher is a lock screen so you don't have to download a separate lock screen to be able to change wallpapers
I think there is an option to do that in the toolbox
@@JonsTech Thank you I actually looked and the only thing that it allowed me to do is to disable the amazon lock screen. If you know of where to go to find how to get a lock screen that would be great (:
im having a issue it all worked.. but now on the home screen of my tablet is just keeps saaying "fire is starting..." aand i cant acess no apps or nothing
Restart the tablet, and give it a few mins to boot up. The processor isn't that fast so it might take a second to load
Does the tablet perform better/faster?

Thanks very much mate! I cant say for sure if its faster, but it should help because we're turning off some of the Amazon background services which take up the tablets resources. You want to turn off the updates, otherwise it will revert back to the normal Fire OS and install the Amazon apps again.

Would it work by simply downloading the app Downloader straight onto the tablet. Then, get FileLinked & open Tech Doctor's store. He has the tools & launcher... no need for a pc? Thanx. Keep the vids coming 👍🏻

I am not sure what a different launcher does is a launcher like a type of windows or Firefox and google are to a home computers? does this launcher allow you to ad apps such as Spotify, and other music Software making apps as well as have file managers available. Using windows 10 now for music and DAW systems, so not sure what a launcher does compare to what it comes with.
