The sleep mode is really quiet and gives you smooth wind to cool down. At full speed the fan is quite noisy but also very strong.Only weird thing is that if there is a draught from another fan, the sleep mode would speed up occasionally (getting a bit louder, probably to level 2 out of 4). This never happened so far when I used only this fan though.
My father used to have one of these that had a broken base, so we just hung it from the ceiling, and I would always smash my head on it. Of course, we're talking about 10 years ago or so.
