Thank you for this video! I found out how to blur around face without clicking around with Blur tool. All I needed was to select a face, then invert the selection (so everything gets selected but the face) and then to use Gaussian blur. It worked perfectly!
You can also use the selection tool, then select the blur from filters (or whatever filter)... Of course it will add the filter to whatever the box is around, so you can use lasso/free hand selection.
Ta for this. Useful to know, for when I need to censor parts of an image (like an person's details) before for posting to social media, especially Instagram and Twitter!
Thanks for this. Just what I needed. I'm starting to learn how to make better youtube thumbnails and blurring out the background on some screenshots turns out quite nicely.
Do you have any tips for when the blur tool simply does nothing? The smudge is working, just not the blur. I've set the rate to 100 and turned off dynamics.
It's a good video, but the narration of the didatic point of it should have been done with more emphasis and not mix of the two talks: the description of side point to the descrimption of the main, the didatic one..
Very helpful. I'm new to GIMP so have many questions. Can I set the center, origin or direction of the motion blur filters? Are all the blur filters "destructive".
I noticed when switching to GIMP 2.10 that the basic Blur filter was missing from the Filters. Is that a Filter I can import back into GIMP? It was a handy Filter to add just a touch of softness to the selected area.
Thank you for a great, easy to follow tutorial!
