My bro is a sub-2:55 marathon runner, and just picked up cycling, bought a $2000 road bike, and can't avg 15 mph on a flat course for a full hour. I kind of believed what you believed at one time, but after seeing him, now I know to give each sport it's true respect.
Thanks TriAddict! I went to youtube and did a search under "triathlon" - this was the first video I clicked on and was mesmerized from start to end. The combination of the music and video footage was very powerful indeed and exactly the inspiration I was looking for, well done!
I have the biggest respect for triathletes! They are truly the hardest working athletes, I don't care what sport you perform in. Triathletes have it the toughest!
I just want to go do my evening training session after watching this awesome retrospective! Anyone who's completed serious endurance events finds themselves in it.
you probably dont care at all but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
Quelle merveille!
I have this always play when i study ! Maybe it sounds weird but it motivates me , i say to myself that i can do everything if this people can do this , really inspirational !
the inspiration and motivation did work ! thnx for posting such a beautifull and motivating video, i hope i could complete this Ironman once in my lifetime beautifull race !
start with a sprint race. It's like .5 mile swim, 13 mile bike and 3 mile run. Use your finishing time to gauge how fit you are. Train all year then do the sprint again the following season to give you comparing times. If you are building up good endurance move up to an Olympic race which is a 1 mile swim, 25 mile bike and 6 mile run. Don't over due it and have fun. Lew Hollinder is an 81 year old Ironman.
Everyone can make a change. Just takes a step and another step afterwards. Repeat until success! I'm going to congratulate you on your future success right now. Get it!
I was in this Ironman 2011 Kona! It was amazing and also tiring LOL I got to meet Craig Alexander and Chrissy Wellington and the other top 10 winners. I used to play this song on my pods while training and was so happy to hear it on this video! Andy Boecherer was a super fun person to hang out with! Loved it and will go back someday! 💕♥️❤️⭐️
Im lucky enough to live in St. George Utah. They have a IronMan in my back yard. I just completed my first marathon last weekend. Next year im going to start racing tri's with the goal to somday compete in an IronMan. This race is the true grand daddy of them all!
WOW... AMAZING ...congratulations on just GETTING to compete. I am making steady recovery from a 26 year battle with arthritis ...would love to BE ABLE to do the IRONMAN some day..!
Believe in what you are make you do beatiful things , Reward you for your Gratitude, Invention of true minded people just gave birth to that kind of event. Life it one day. If you forget it its because youve past away ... Ironman is a Postiveness Of the Mind and how far you can achieve this goal of sucess.
The song is the version of Time - inception by We plants are happy plants. The original version is made by Hans Zimer but this remix is awesome, sad i have not found it to download.
@ADuckOnQuack97 It can be found on youtube under the name "Hans Zimmer - Time (Inception) (We Plants Are Happy Plants Remix) " They also used parts of the original song in the official Challenge Roth video as well.
at this time last year i decided the same too, dropped 40 pounds since then, have another 30-35 ish to go. And am doing my half ironman this year, full next year. I hope to make it to Kona within this decade (am only 20 years old so i have plenty of time if i cant make it this decade)
Many ppl start with Triathlon in your age. You can always compete with yourself and there are plenty of distances you can begin with (short, sprint, olympic). Just have a look for Triathlon competitions close to your home.
@MyArchie17 Anyone can compete! You simply need to have the motivation to work hard to get there. You will receive the respect of being an 'Ironman'! And yes, you also get a medal! So start working hard!
dude, check out Lance armstrong's page. He finished 4th in all of texas in the 1500m freestyle when he was 12. It's not like the guy never knew how to swim. He was on his way to becoming an elite swimmer before he found out about triathlons, which he did throughout his teens. He became an elite triathlete, then he decided to try cycling, which he did and then excelled at it.
This is a little off topic, but I'm curious if there have ever been any shark attacks during the swims in these ocean tri's. I'm no marine biologist, but I'm curious whether the massive number of people flailing around would actually deter and intimidate sharks or, conversely, stir them into a feeding frenzy, just like when they're going after seals. Did some googling and only found one such attack, but it was actually during training with a small group of only a dozen or so.
@MyArchie17 Yes. And if you can beat Craig Alexander (2008, 2009, 2011 World Champion) to first place, you also receive $120,000 in prize money. So, begin training to qualify! (You qualify by competing in another Ironman distance race and performing well in it according to your age group) Goodluck!
That's right. The bike is anywhere from 4 and a half hours (for top cycling pros) to 6 hours. Remember, the distance is 112 miles (Roughly LA to San Diego). All 3 disciplines of a triathlon are very difficult in their own right.
They do have their own difficulties but a triathlon is harder since there are three sports all together, plus including the stamina, endurance, speed, training you will need to at least make it through half of this without fainting as to even win this. I guess that's why most people say its the hardest of all athletic activities.

Is that Damian Lewis (Homeland, Band of Brothers) at 5:30?. I don't see him on the participants list but the resemblence is striking.
