It’s another sweltering morning in Memphis, Egypt. As the sunlight brightens the Nile, Peseshet checks her supplies. Honey, garlic, cumin, acacia leaves, cedar oil -- she’s well stocked with the essentials she needs to treat her patients. Elizabeth Cox outlines a day in the life of an ancient Egyptian doctor.
Lesson by Elizabeth Cox, animation by Echo Bridge.

It is the beginning of praying to God for healing, just like the Christians do today. Christianity has its beginnings in Egypt with Isis the goddess holding her son Horus, just like Mary holding Jesus. Christianity comes from Egyptian religion. Also, in Christian prayer healings, you act as a conduit for the power of the god to come through you to the patient to heal them just like this doctor did with the goddess of venomous bites. It is the same.
At least she tried to cut the poison out as well.
Christianity does the same B.S LOL

Egyptian commoner: Doctor! I have a tumor on my arm please help me?
Egyptian Doctor: GOTTA BLAST
Alex
I think it was some disease, not cancer.
PokeMageTech nah, I’m pretty sure it’s cancer. It would be a relatable sort of thing. People are laughing at the doctor for the entire video because of her “treatments” (none of which actually do anything) and how they’re totally baseless and inaccurate.
But then the doctor encounters an unstoppable tumor that will kill anyone who has it. Cancer today is basically the one disease we haven’t cured, and can only really treat it. That feeling of powerlessness is the one constant.
@@thedemonhater7748 Except they were NOT baseless. They didn't understood how the treatments worked, but they were much better than nothing. Well, in most cases at least. Even the spell thing had function, if you were convinced goddess will help you the placebo effect would be pretty strong.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the fact that the Egyptians allowed women to practice medicine, a profession which the western world typically ascribes to men and which women had to fight to gain a place in within other cultures. This is why I love the ancient Egyptians so much; no matter what else you can say about them, they were remarkably egalitarian in comparison with cultures like the ancient Athenians who would not even allow women to leave the home.
Well u cant say they are just better each culture had its flaw greek contribute to philosophy and democracy alot

We've known about the ancient Egyptians' skills in architecture, mummification and a few other things, but we rarely knew how good they were at medicine.
Such information helps to prove that the ancients were definitely smarter than they're given credit.
Study Imhotep, the true father of medicine who predated Hippocrates by at least 2,000 years.
They were particularly creative when it came to contraceptives and abortifacients. Obviously, not all of them worked, but their thought processes towards medicine were definitely advanced for their time.

For broken bones, the people from Northern Uganda use a kind of herbs. They crush the leaves and plaster the broken part. instantly the leaf plaster sends cold sensation and the pain, even bleeding stop. The leaf-Plaster dries and become hard as a cast. Then arranges the bone into the original position. If put immediately, a compound fracture takes about a week or so and the broken part can be used. infact when you see the plaster dropping and can no longer hold, it means you are almost healed.

I have a question: why is ancient Egypt depicted as desert ?
Like entire Sahara region it was full of vegetation and wild animals .
It was a main source of grain for the Roman Empire for a long time before Arabs .
Like we care about that
Are you sure?
Yes the Sahara desert did not always exist. But that time was pre civilization. Civilization is marked by the beginning of agriculture and settlement which generally didnt occur until about 10,000 years ago (give or take around the world). This was after the ice age when worldwide climates began to warm. During this time the changing climate created the Sahara desert, and with the lush natural resources of plants and wild animals drying up, the growing Sahara desert forced the people who lived there outward towards coasts and rivers (water sources were necessary for life, agriculture, settlement, civilizations). Through sort of a luck of the draw, certain civilizations were more successful and powerful due to the locations their ancestral nomadic tribes travelled to and their proximity to major water sources (both for their ability to support crops and livestock to feed their people, but also for the ability
to travel by water instead of on foot for trade, military tactics, and advancement by traveling and learning/sharing knowledge and culture with other Mediterranean societies), and they often gained further wealth and power by taking advantage of smaller weaker tribes and settlements in outlying, less habitable areas. Egypt was still mostly desert and their crops were supported by seasonal Nile flooding and engineered irrigation systems. These reasons are also why ancient Egypt is sort of the only ancient African civilization that most people around the world today are familiar with.
it aint right unless it's a desert tbh
@@ThePsychoZbra Interesting, I would like to investigate more about it, but from what I know now ( thanks to you ;)) I would say the reason why people didn't depict it as a place thriving with wildlife and instead as a desert, is because by the time the nomads started to settle and slowly form a civilization, most of it was gone.
please make more of these day of the life series, its so interesting to watch and listen to
