I got one of these a couple of months and just have a couple of suggestions. 1) The Shoei RF1400 requires a special mount that is sold separately. Its necessary because of the large ridge at the back of the helmet and costs about $10. 2) If you ride a sporty type bike, mount the light as low as possible on the helmet because on sport bikes, your head is tilted forward slightly and if you mount it too high it will be pointed upwards too much and not rearwards. Hope that made sense. As for how effective it is, I regularly have drivers comment on it at red lights and traffic seems to stay further back than normal and gives me more room. Last week a guy asked me why don't all helmets have brake lights. Good question.
Great job. I just bought one of these and installed it on my helmet. I believe the guys who conceived this did a hell of a job designing it and perfecting it before production. Their prototype was hard, smooth plastic, and the finished one is rubery in texture. The USB port on the bottom is logical for water protection. My few criticisms are: 1. The power button is kind of hard to push, and low to the unit, so wearing gloves will make it even harder. 2. Micro USB instead of USB-C. 3. Non-replaceable battery. I have had that 3M adhesive fail on a GoPro, so I am leery of its reliability, but this weighs less, and in my prior situation the GoPro was on a chin bar which added some leverage. We'll see how that works longer term. Good job on the review.
Thanks for your feedback! I use mine daily and have never had the 3m tape fail me. As for the button, yup it’s hard to do with gloves, but I always turn it on BEFORE each ride. So no worries there. USB vs USB C, works fine for me either way. Battery replacement? That would be cool. I wonder when the battery dies, they will give a big discount on a replacement one? I have had mine on for a long time, no sign of slowing down!! Ride safe and thanks for the comment!
Omg beth i literally got the light for my bike and started watching your video and read your comments and returned it a got a helmet light. I saw the video of the guys and he made a good point. Our tail lights are not eye level but our head is... Great move. Love ya. Be safe.
Hi Mark, this product is amazing. I’ve had mine for over a year and I’ve never had an issue! Also, it doesn’t come on when your engine brake. It comes on strictly when you’re slowing down. Completely irrespective to you using your brake. It uses an accelerometer to set it off.
I would like to see if there's a way to attach it directly to the bike. I have multiple helmets, and sometimes ride with a passenger. I can imagine the passenger would be annoyed with that flashing in their face whenever you slow down.
I like the product. The Ryker has all that engine slow down. Before you hit the brake you may have already slowed down 10 mph or more if you want to. I know, old news. Does the light come on only for the brake? I'm happy you are doing safety related products. Take Care
This goes by motion sensor, it will goes on even if you don't hit the brakes while slowing down. Have been using it since this year. It woks great and you can change it between helmets. I really recommend it especially for Ryker rider as we always slow down without hitting the brakes.
Another great video Beth. That’s awesome. My only concern would be how aerodynamic it is. Have you noticed any additional wind buffeting on the highway?
great video … .. i have a reflective sticker on the back of my helmet… like the Taylor ones they make for wheels…. but will definitely look into this … be safe out there…
Seen them come from license plate additions to modular units for our helmets. The unit you chose to bring to light and your video. Top Notch !! Can you share with us why you changed to a full face helmet?
Thanks Tom! I switched to a full face after my dear friend was in a horrible motorcycle accident. Freaked me out (didn't ride for a month). Now I am all about the gear. #AGATT
Interesting question. Yes, SOME states require a helmet (DOT) while others don't. Not sure if you'd get a ticket for covering up the DOT sticker or not. But I am sure, I you got pulled over for it, you could show the DOT label inside.
I plan on ordering mine soon! Very cool video and great review, as always! Quick question, is your coupon code still good? If not, I'm still getting it! 😁
I agree, it is a little expensive (don't forget to use my coupon code), but I look at it like this: It is cheaper than a hospital visit! I am all about being seen! #AGATT
Like the UA-cam channel but do we need to donate clothes to you cuz it looks like you were the same clothes every one of these videos just asking for a friend

So, the one most important piece of this "system" wasn't addressed. HOW does the unit know when the brakes are being applied? SMH like the actual light device is the ONLY device a buyer should be concerned about. It doesn't communicate by magic. There has to be some kind of BT device that somehow gets actuated sending a BT signal to the light, wherever it happens to be mounted. This gal mentions she had some kind of problem or issue with the brake light actuator, but said nothing to expand upon that aspect of the install.
huh ? she said it uses an accelerometer.... you can go to their website and read all about it.... her earlier brake problem was something else entirely ...
Hi Philip, thank you for watching. As John H mentioned, it does work by using an accelerometer and I discuss it in the video. The helmet brake light works independently from the bike. Also, the issue I had with my brake switch was discussed in depth in another video, so I didn't want to get into it again. Sorry for the confusion.

That's awesome Monique! I am glad you got it. I am all about being seen.
You are the coolest Ryker lady ever, I love watching your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate that! And thank you for watching!
The fact that it comes on when you engine brake is awesome. I just wish that companies would stand behind their products longer than one year.

I've seen ads of these before and was always curious. Thank you for doing a review of it.
My pleasure! I really love how easy it is to install and how crazy bright it is.
My favorite ryker channel
Awww thanks Khadijah!!! I really appreciate that!!!
I bought one right after I bought the Ryker. I won’t ride without it!
Hi Beth would you tell us what helmet you use please
Just ordered mine today, so thanks for the review. Can’t wait for it to show up.
Awesome. Keep me posted!
A great safety mod, simple to install and won’t void the Ryker warranty. Bummer I missed your live chat.😢
Thanks so much John!
Beth, thanks for the review. After watching i placed an order for one. Of course I used your coupon.
Awesome, hope you like it! Keep us posted James.
Thanks for the review! I had bought the flash device from sling mods and returning to get this.
That's awesome Jay. You will love it!
Now THAT is a great product! I have been planning on getting the brake flasher…until now.
This is sooooo much better! Happy to have found it.
I purchased it 6 months ago, this is an Awesome product.
I know, right?!?!? I am thrilled!
I would like to see if there's a way to attach it directly to the bike. I have multiple helmets, and sometimes ride with a passenger. I can imagine the passenger would be annoyed with that flashing in their face whenever you slow down.
I would buy a few of the tabs and place them on a few helmets when you Ride with a passenger have them wear the light.
Great suggestion Nosspeed!
Jesse, you want it at eye level with the driver behind you...the helmet is the best place for it.
Nosspeed11, that is an excellent idea. Simple solution.

I may have not payed enough attention to the details. Can happen!
Have had mine for a while now, I love it!
Me too!!
Very good review Beth. Thanks for an option to the wired product
This is so much better!! Thanks for watching Dale!
thank you for the review. I ordered one this morning and used your code. also, for others, this system fits on the Shoei Neotec II helmet.
Thanks for the info! I appreciate the feedback!
Thanks Beth, placed my order today!
Hope you like it as much as I do!
Super kool item! Definitely a must have especially for night riding!!
I couldn't agree more! Thanks for checking it out!
Another great video Beth. That’s awesome. My only concern would be how aerodynamic it is. Have you noticed any additional wind buffeting on the highway?
Not that I know of. I absolutely love it. Even if there is wind buffering, worth it for safety!
great video … .. i have a reflective sticker on the back of my helmet… like the Taylor ones they make for wheels…. but will definitely look into this … be safe out there…
I have the reflective tape on my wheels too. Love them!
Awesome product. I will order mine now and also get one for my passenger helmet
