You forgot that the whole blunderdome is a simulation and the fall guys are fighting for their lives to remain alive. If they fall off, they are replaced with an identical clone killing the other fall guy. On some maps u can actually see a fall guy in an air balloon and also u can see him in the qualification screen and he is another self aware fall guy like silent.
The lore actually started in season 4, because in the very end of the trailer for that season, they showed a logo for Wig Industries. Who helped with the satellite
