    What I have always appreciated are old-fashioned quality and fiddling with a WI-FI, and a few hundred dollars more isn't a necessity for the majority of the hobbyists. Thank you for the opportunity to get a look

      Ain't that the truth. Thanks for checking it out.
      I did a follow up video if you're interested. You can see the beast in action!

    Hi , looks like a great filter, Im in Ireland also and have the jewel 450 also , I have the internal filter that came with the jewel running and the aqueal 2000 canister filter running.
    Im going to upgrade the 2000 and was looking at an FX 6 , the aqueal hasn't missed a beat in 18 months ,so wondering how has the 4500 worked out for you.

      @awilderireland  7 місяців тому

      No probs. Minor quibble... The hoses could be a little longer. To be honest your current setup should be fine. But if you want to upgrade go for it. I wouldn't bother with the Fluval. This is better on media capacity alone.
      *Edit: I have another video of it running if you haven't seen it. You can skip through the waffle to the good bits!

    • @awilderireland

      @@PeterKnopp-ih8ie Easy just use the Grey button/plunger. A couple of presses should get it filling.
      Like many filters after a water change or cleaning the main filter a little air can get trapped. Just give it a few light shakes. I mean move it from side to side a few times. It's too heavy to shake!! And it will get rid of the air.
      It's pretty much trouble free so far.

    Hi, I hope to see your thougths on it after few weeks/months of using it :] For now we can only trust what the manufacturer claims, which is usually about 65% of the real life experience :) The next version with heaters could be a nice touch. I like their ultraheaters, would be nice if they upgraded those with wifi too. An app for adjusting the temperature as gimmicky as it may be is still better than sticking your hands to the tank, just my opinion :]

    • @awilderireland
      @awilderireland  Рік тому

      Of course. To each their own. As I said the manufacturers claims mean very little.

    And what to buy? Aquel, FX6 or Eheim?

    • @awilderireland
      @awilderireland  11 місяців тому +1

      Aquael or the old style Eheim. Not the hi-tech Eheims. They are not well made (unlike years ago).
      The FX6 has less flow and more importantly holds far less media.

    @A Wilder Ireland Hi! Have you started using this filter? I am curious about your first impression, if it is noisy or rather quiet in comparison to Ultramax filters when you decrease its power to 50%. Regarding the version of the filter with a digital screen and 2 built-in heaters - it will be available within 6 months or so and will be more or less 2 times more expensive than the current version. They need to fine-tune their mobile app before they release the product.

      Very interesting. No way would I pay extra for that! I'm sure some peopĺe will like it though. I haven't set it up yet as it's for a new tank. It came with a EU plug and manual only in Polish even though the box is in English. The UK version may not be shipped yet.
      I have e-mailed Aquael but they haven't responded yet. I think that is common with them. The dealer is trying also. I may return it if they continue to ignore me re the manual and get the Eheim.

      @@awilderireland I have some questions to them so will call them on Monday and ask for the English manual. In the meantime you can try the Polish one with google translator. If you have any problem with understanding anything in Polish I can try to translate it for you. Which Eheim you consider as the replacement?

      @@awilderireland I talked with them today morning. They say that they don't have English version of this manual, because they don't sell this product outside Poland yet. It will be available for other countries within a few months together with the version of the filter with internal heaters and digital screen. The dealer probably bought this filter on the free market in Poland (maybe from a partner of AQUAEL in Poland), not directly from AQUAEL.

    Did your have any issues getting yours going? One of my inlets is working perfect, i cant seem to get the other side going properly. I try to prime it and it just wont take off. On the right as you look at it.

    • @awilderireland
      @awilderireland  Рік тому +1

      No. All I can think of is that the connector (the blue levers) is partially closed. That happened to me and I couldn't get the connector back in. It was my fault. I removed it when the lever wasn't fully depressed! Remove it (at the filter end) and make sure the valve is all the way closed when the connector is off by looking in the space/hole where the connector sits. You can compare it to the other one to see how it should be. If it's not move it into the correct position by pushing the teeth with a screwdriver then reattach the hose.
      If it's making noise or bubbling it's just trapped air. Try pressing the primer plunger button a few times and also moving the filter from side to side. If that doesn't work manually suck on the outlet at the tank end to get a good siphon going.
      I hope I haven't confused you!
