Hey, Mr. Banjo player, got to tell you man .. GREAT JOB! I played plectrum banjo with Dixie and New Orleans Jazz bands for over 40 years and we, the rhythm section, rarely get any accolade … well you have some now friend, really enjoyed listening to the right chord structure you played.. nice! :-)
Back in the 70's, as a student BGSU, used to sit in Tony Packo's eat'n stuffed cabbage, chicken paprikas, hunky sausages, hot pickles & peppers, guzzle'n Schlitz and PBR. Just me and what turned out to be my wife of 37 years stomp'n, clap'n and dig'n on Mr Ray Heitger and his Cake Walkers. What great memories!
Just listening to a CD and wondered if there was a video. So glad I found it. My sister who has been gone now for almost four years loved this group ( as I did) I listened to them playing laughing and crying and the same time. Wonderful band and wonderful music!!
They don't seem to know the tune,, the tempo is far too fast, and the piano is drowning out the rest of the band. Anyone trying to actually dance the cakewalk to this would have a heart attack.
Yes in theory dem Rags should never be played fast, by the expert of the day Scott Joplin, in a lot of his writings. But Jazz per say, is usually interpreted by the player; and unlike the classical era, Jazz mods are OK, like straight from the soul!
Don't know the tune? They've opened every show with this tune for 50 years. These folks have forgotten more jazz than most people will ever know. The balance is just a problem with the recording.
One of the best ! Been around forever!
These folks are fabulous! Only 12, 000 hits is a disgrace to the listening public.
First met this outstanding group at Bix Fest and immediately fell in love!!!! Hi gang!!! NH

Sorry, that's Mrs. "Banjo Betsy" on tenor banjo.
heard them at Terrace In Bay View Michigan at the Terrace Inn. Just so much fun, just so much rhythm ...love the style
Great great version.
THE PIANO REALLY MADE IT FOR THE GROUP.
I like the way the pianist attacks the keyboard!
That is Ragtime, been playing for years! That’s his wife Betsy on banjo!
@@TheNancy1938 Thanks for the update!
Sounds just great out east in NH! Love this group.

Yes for the banjo.
Boy, they give thieir all, and thats a'plenty.
Great stuff!
We needed to hear the banjo do solo.
That's a good Song 😂
Hot stuff the way it should be!
How could you not get up and dance?
I like the woman tapping her feet in those shoes.
If you want balance, listen to Bix!
Good band. Shame that the piano mostly drowned out the front line
Don't agree. The piano was perfect. These people know what they're doing.
Tempo for this song is OK. Sound balance is the problem. Can’t hear trumpet or banjo. Piano is too loud.

This is a concert! ...not a bar room dance hall. Sheesh! That's like saying, "I hated that opera, they were so loud, my sing-a-long got drowned out.
Too fast and bad sound balance. Do none of you do a sound check? Listen to Tube Skinny to find out more about tempo, balance and arrangement
Thanks for the kind and enlightening comments. I'm sure everyone is so much the better for them. Best.
