nothing against the intro, its an integral part of the performance and i love it, but if you've seen it a million times like i have or just wanna show somebody the song, music starts at 3:30

The second theme reminds me of The Cascades by Scott Joplin.

I just know Kristofer Maddigan saw this back then and went on to take many elements from it for his arrangement of Inkwell Isle One. This was his inspiration for sure. It's quite similar structurally and in instrumentation (except for the string instruments used here).

It's essentially a rewrite of Sugar Cane that borrows chord progressions from the original in places, with the understanding that the final strain of Elite Syncopations also plays in the chain. Conspicuously absent are elements from Leola and Gladiolus Rag, but they seem to be in another branch of the family of derivatives.

The sound he's able to get out of that banjo is pretty impressive. To the untrained ear it might seem basic but those brushes he's doing are pretty impressive, especially considering he's also singing and using a fretless instrument.
