- Are big militaries their own worst enemy? Stuck in the mud, resisting change and refusing to embrace the technology that could win and deter World War Three. On World at War Jerome Starkey spoke to the men who ran the Pentagon's unit X and led the charge to get Silicon Valley technology into the hands of frontline soldiers, but faced extraordinary resistance from the Pentagon's old guard.

The "tech" was stripped out of the plane. With very few exceptions, the US does not allow it's latest military hardware to be sold or given to another country. They did the same thing with the Abram's tanks going to Ukraine. They removed the sensitive electronics and depleted uranium armor as well as most of the software. Instead, they installed 3 generations old electronics and tungsten armor. Does anyone honestly believe that the US would give their best F-16!systems and hardware away?
@jonny no they didn't. Provide claims of those terrorists having tanks with depleted uranium armor.
@@birdstwin1186 they got choppers and jet’s instead of ole tanks with silly “ armour “ 😂🤣😂🤣 prove mw wrong 😑
@@jonnybloggs6790 the US didn't leave any jets, just broken helicopters and humvees
@@jonnybloggs6790 I am sure there are videos of them having tea with aliens on here too. The US left $7 billion in weapons, ammo, parts and vehicles in Afghanistan. This included over 300,000 in small arms and crew served weapons, 12,000 humvees, over 1.5 million munitions, over 40k units of night vision goggles, radios, etc. 78 aircraft were abandoned, valued at over $900m.
Among these aircraft were also MD-500s, CH-46s, and AN-29s. The first two are helicopters. The AN-29 is a WW2 style prop plane used for close air support. There was also one C-130 cargo plane.
There were no fighter jets at Bagram. I have been there. At one time they had A-10s, but they were withdrawn before the pullout.
How do I know these things? I am no mere civilian.
@@mikeboydus you just googled it 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 it’s all public knowledge nothing new prove me wrong …. And I ain’t your average potato that will believe anything including what Google tells me .
iPad is US tech though...
Who's satellites they trying to reach?
built by china
This is so stupid. The F-16 is 40+ years old. Also, you have no idea how complex the US military is.
It’s the Sun. You can’t expect much.
It's the Sun mate. We read their paper in the UK for laughs and nothing else.
The F-16 has GPS avionics. Garage clickbait
We make a flying thingy called Gripen 39E, buy it, it comes with a screen.🇸🇪
Ukraine needs 100 modern fighters and needs them now.
When would the first 12 Gripen be delivered and how many are produced monthly?
F-16 production rate 48 per year.
Gripen production rate 8 per year.
Basically US can rearm Ukraine in 2-3 years while Sweden would need 15-20 years to do so.
Right! Buy it, begging getting to old !
The old F-16s are ancient.
Think about pre-internet computers.
The new ones manufactured or latest upgraded ones a different story.
MLU 😉
These F16’s date from 1981 so it’s not that surprising. They are not Block 70/72 F16s not the Vipers . These are the original General Dynamics Fighting Falcons
The first F-16 prototype flew in 1975-76. I think it was designated the YF-16. I remember seeing it in the 1976 events yearbook.
@@lastinlastout4318 yeah but first ones to enter service in the 80's
The European f16s have been upgraded probably 10 times since then
So few minutes you passed judgement.
One month there be scrap!
Very good interview.
Do you really think that they cannot access an ipad?
It may seem they cannot but theyll adopt your systems and add to it and it wont have a name. Its not a good idea putting such devices on US craft because there are bad people who CAN do some bad things
MTBF explains a lot.
so much money for basic
They have to supply a gps navigation via pad because the USA has its own military gps
ruZZian tech so basic Fred Flinstone laughs at it
was it though? surely the tech thats in ipad gps was based on the militarys gps
With one big difference, the main reason they will never give it to anyone except known, proven, friendly NATO members, all GPS does not run off the same satellites, actually GPS is a brand in itself, only the west runs on GPS, Russia has its own brand, China, even Japan has its own brand, the US military also has its own brand, which runs on its own satellites, which would mean a direct link to the military satellites, I'm sure you understand how dangerous that would be, the US Military knows how dangerous that would be, especially as they keep getting surprised by Russian capability, in signals, jamming, tracking tech, especially.
Sounds like a good match for the russian air force. Remember the after market gps the russian planes use.😂😂😂
Not for amateur
USA great fighter jets
But propaganda says they are the best!? Never enough for the MiC huh
Who's to say we aren't watching propaganda right now ?
The Sun = Russian Propaganda Network
@@Off-The-X since when? The last two years promoting ukie victories!
The guy on the left is out of his element. He should be discussing the dirty underpants of some prince, but he is discussing some Pentagon.
Ok comrade. It’s the Sun. A tabloid.
@@DarkCriimes propaganda garbage and secular gossip in one bottle - this is a biological weapon, my lord
All very good getting tech faster etc but isn't this exactly how we now end up with Elon Musk being able to support one side of not and in many respects control access to support the front line has grown to rely on. This idea has definite advantages but I think you are down playing the disadvantages by lumping them with inefficiency, delays and cost. Lets privatise the whole military, I would bet this would completely change the way wars etc are fought but I suspect you might see a few problems too.
This is beyond ridiculous lazy and stupid reporting

Only an Issue for u.s. nato Pilots as Ucraniums wont be Flying them. When and If they ever arrive at all. 😉👍
Oh look richard craniums still here, still fighting the losing battle eh kid.
Idiots who think that Ukraine is winning are living in denial. They seek comfort in subjective reality and ignore all the facts.
Oh look another ruski bot living in denial, Russia 2nd most powerful country in the world goes to war against Ukraine at the time ranked 22nd in the world, after 2 1/2 years has lost 50% of the ground gained in the initial attack.
China is in terminal decay and your lashing out
🤣🍄 What mushrooms are you on? You should check your REALITY, by going to Russia - just for a week! Let's see how big man you are then!
F-16 are from the 1980’s. They are falling out of the sky now.
F16s have been upgraded probably 10 times since then
@@mastermariner490Right. What about the frame?
@@tiborjakkel145 the PoBIT upgrades are being performed in conjunction with the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) which will extend the F16s airframes’ fatigue life from 8,000 to 12,000 hours
Instead of arming Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, US tax payer money should be spent on infrastructure, healthcare, education and homelessness ...
The money would be embezzled and wasted as current funds for infrastructure, education, etc. already are.
Tell that to Putin 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂

What will we watch on TV then?

NATO is not fighting in Ukraine 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
Russia lost half a million men and are stalemated against a sub 20th ranked military power. Russia is humiliated.
NATO being humiliated??? What planet are you on? If NATO actually went into Ukraine the Russian army would suffer the same total destruction that the Iraqi army did, twice.
