To help with the pre load, bmw says to take a little screw clamp and clamp the dowel/pipe etc to the bottom side of the bracket as shown, to free up your hands for adjustment...
Thanks for sharing! Its great to see a job like this shown in such detail, including the bits that didn't go well! Great explanation of the work. Thanks for your efforts brother. I had not seen the preloading advice on other videos I've watched
I think I read somewhere that using an impact on bushing tools is a no-no, especially when attacking bushings that are known to be suspect to corrosion, i.e. more difficult than others to remove. I've got this exact tool, so I'll make sure to use a nice long breaker bar to get it started.
Great videos! The auto parts vendor videos are very helpful. (So easy). Your videos provide the extra level of DIY garage reality. in plain talk. THANK YOU!
Great instructions! Especially the for the offset on the RTAB bracket. I would suggest not using impact and instead of a paint marker and a hit with spray paint before removing the RTAB bracket-much easier to realign. Thanks!
Nice video best i saw,on trailing arm bush i have damage upper trailing arm bush make rear right drop over the wheel lioe something heavy on the right i replace the upper bush but the book says i should take measurements before removing it and mark trailing arm braket before i didnt thats how i find your video on perloading
Awesome video! Where did you get your tool? I like that the parts of your tool don't seize up on the rod when the rod snaps/bends. I've already had two rods snap on me smh and then I have to buy a new tool each time because the threads on the blocks and other parts of the tool are damaged too.
Was your toe too much in or too much out? You'll notice you need to centre the bush in the trailing arm. At 10.30 your bush is sticking out too the right side you need to push it in more
Honestly, I forget which way out the toe was (positive or negative), but I did go to the newtis site to double check the stickout. I think it was around 10mm or so. I adjusted it accordingly after posting the vid.
Best replacement RTAB vid I seen on YT, I feel your pain, thanks for the upload, good job.
A really straight forward video with torque spec’s. Can’t ask for much more. Thanks for the video!

That’s correct. 10/10 would not recommend using an impact on ANY bushing
Awesome video, explained the preload part beautifully!!

Oh yeah! The grind might get slow but it never stops.
Thank great video
You deserve a sub!
I really want to thank you for not doing that job with a hammer and a standard screw driver.

Considering that this bushing has been replaced at least once already, it looks quite horrible...

Roy Jones jr drives an e46????
Bruh lol. Nice
Inside inside.... Inside were spiders! Ahhhhh! I hate spiders
Best to use hand tools but power tools may work
Agreed! This was definitely a learning experience for me.
Where did you get the tool?
one do not use a impact and go to ecs tuning and get a Schwaben Rear Trailing Arm Bushing Tool
@@rickybird6015
Just bought the tool from Turner motor sports , hopefully it works abs I won’t use impact but a breaker bar and patience
@@joemanga350 Ratcheting Wrench will help tooo
That is not a good place to put jack stands. That plastic can break and car will fall into the stand.
using power tools on bushing tools lmao
Yep! No regrets.
@@soufsidemotorsports8418 kinda stupid aint it
@@vacban404 Not at all. It got the job done and that’s all that matters to me. Tool parts can easily be replaced, wasted time cannot.
@@vacban404 And I don’t usually use impacts on bushings if you were wondering 😄
@@soufsidemotorsports8418 I am sure you always use power tools on bushings.
