Athenea Garibay de la Tejera the name of the store is Cedar Creek Dulcimers, in Branson, MO on 76 right next to the Hollywood Wax Museum. The site is cedarcreekdulcimers.com
The Biblical psaltery would have been a bit different, of course. They would have used gut strings in ancient times, and the body design and method of playing it could have been completely different as the concepts of music theory, chords, frets, scales, keys, etc. had not been invented yet at that time...
The title of this video is misleading. At no point does he ever pluck the bowed psaltery. I realize that's an unusual technique, but it can be done, and even combined with bowing simultaneously.
i just bought one of these, the alto version. i am enjoying it greatly. where did you find the stickers with the notes to put on the soundboard? do you still sell them? and the easy play books. i will check out the website. thanks so much
you are supposed to bow it, not pluck it. If you pluck it, it will sound very similar to a lap harp, but it will be more difficult to do so due to the shape. Might as well get a regular lap harp/plucked psaltery if you want to pluck an instrument...
The title implies you'll demonstrate plucking the bowed psaltery. I saw you pluck the regular psaltery and bow the bowed psaltery. Please fix your title so as not to mislead people.
Excellent Instructions , Thank You
lap harp/plucked psaltery - poor man's harp
bowed psaltery - poor man violin
mountain/walking dulcimer - poor man's guitar
hammered dulcimer - poor man's piano/harpsichord
I found a Unicorn Strings 1987 in great condition. Im grabbing it just to have in my collection of instruments. Its only 45 bucks at this flea market!
Thanks - I just received one of these and your video was very helpful.
AWESOME and sounding BEAUTIFUL ♥️👍
I love this store. I go to the one in Branson. The people there are super friendly and knowledgeable.
Hi Monique! What is the name of the store and in which city it is located?

May I ask if the psaltery predates the harp or vice versa? I study biblical instruments and would love to know. Thank you.

I think I'm too old to learn how to use it.
