  • Vicky Cornell isn’t convinced that her husband committed suicide. Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, and Amberia Allen, the hosts of The Young Turks, tell you her evidence. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. tytnetwork.com/join/
“Vicky Cornell, the wife of Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, issued a statement Friday morning where she remembered her late husband, who died Thursday morning at the age of 52, and speculated whether his suicide was the result of taking too much of his anxiety medication.
"Chris's death is a loss that escapes words and has created an emptiness in my heart that will never be filled. As everyone who knew him commented, Chris was a devoted father and husband. He was my best friend," Vicky wrote.
"His world revolved around his family first and, of course, his music second. He flew home for Mother's Day to spend time with our family. He flew out mid-day Wednesday, the day of the show, after spending time with the children. When we spoke before the show, we discussed plans for a vacation over Memorial Day and other things we wanted to do.”

Thank you! I love that you pointed that out. Especially with Chris...he was so passionate about so many things and he was always wanted to please his fans. He would've at least left SOMETHING behind to his family or fans to explain his actions. Another thing that people fail to realize is that Chris was a ROCKSTAR....he knew his drugs and how they'd affect him. I hate that some people are so naïve and they think he's this golden boy who never experimented. An extra Ativan or two is not going to cause his to commit suicide, he was tolerant to his medication and they said he had a therapeutic dose in his system. This doesn't add up and I really wish Vicky would've paid to have a proper investigation done, and get second, third and fourth opinions on his autopsy.

how come no one is talking about the actual device that he supposedly used to hang himself? That exercise band is made of a rubber material that giives way. It is STRETCHY, and he is 6 feet 2 inches tall, and he supposedly used a door. I'm not a physics expert, but it does not seem possible that one could hang themselves with a stretchy band suspended from a door, especially a man who is 6 feet 2 inches tall. I'm not getting the mechanics of this at all. And why did he have 9 broken ribs? Can CPR actually cause 9 ribs to break? I mean I've heard of a few broken ribs during CPR, but NINE? and why was there blood on the floor in the photos? Why was he bleeding? Hanging does not cause one to bleed, so why was there blood? Also, why was Narcan found in his body? Narcan (naloxone) is only used to reverse the effects of opioids, but there was no evidence of opioid use in his hotel room, so why would the EMTs administer this drug to him? How come no one is talking about that? Way too many unanswered questions about this SUPPOSED "suicide."

CPR can cause way more than 9 ribs to break, it's unusual if no ribs crack or break. Suicide by hanging can lead to blood leaking form the eyes. As for the elastic tube part, im sure he wrapped it three or four times around his neck.... I think we was severely depressed over a long period of time and decided to check out, depression is severely lethal if not treated right. R.I.P Chris.

The spokesperson for “The Silent Children” told Reuters, “None of the people mentioned were ever involved in our project, and we were never even remotely in contact with them.” Also, “Our project and its website was a well-meaning attempt to make people aware of a serious problem. We never got further then what was on the website and were not able to raise funding to move forward. The project was abandoned at least five years ago. The website was maintained as an informational source by Ms Beane and is in the process of being taken down.” (I’m not trying to tear anyone down here I just want people to look into this objectively for themselves) look at the information available for, and against, the conspiracy before taking it in as fact. ☮️ ✌️

A few years back, I'd just had my leg amputated, and my doctor put me on an antidepressant that was also supposed to help with phantom pain. After I'd been on it for a couple weeks, I'd just be lying in bed at night, thinking about the best way to kill myself. I wondered if it'd be best to just wheel myself out to the garage, and fire up my truck, and just sleep. Luckily, at some point, a something went off in my head that told me I should not be having thoughts like this. I went online and saw that one of the potential side effects was the drug could increase depression and anxiety. I immediately stopped taking it ( I believe it was Zoloft, but I honestly can't remember with exact certainty any more. I really don't like thinking about those first months after I lost my leg), and I called my doctor and informed her I'd stopped taking it. now one could say, well I just lost my leg. Sometimes being depressed is just common sense. But in the days and weeks afterward, I never seriously considered suicide again.
I'm not saying I think or know that maybe that's what happened to Chris Cornell, but mind altering can sometimes affect your mind ( duh ) in unexpected ways. they did for me.

Far beyond a grunge star. I could play his music around my grandparents and would hear them say "who is this? It's quite beautiful." He was an extraordinary musician, vocally, but for me more for his unprecedented lyrics and ability to tell a story. No other individual musician has touched me in the way he has. To see his solo shows was to see a talent way beyond a mere 'rock front man'; instead you were entering an experience that only a few people have the ability to do. Truly extraordinary.

I know all about recovery. But honestly, if you've decided to be clean, then you'll stay clean. It's a choice. Once the side effects are over, then it's up to you after that. I know, because I've been there.
However, Chris' autopsy proved he wasn't a drug addict. He was clean from illegal drugs and didn't even have pills in his stomach according to the autopsy. The autopsy is posted online. Amazingly, he was healthy. Heck, I'm jealous of his health report. Lol!

Suicidal ideations while using benzos are as rare as overdose. The old ER joke was that the only way you could die was by choking on the pills.
To give you an idea of what a toxic dose of Valium is the LD50 for oral Valium is about 1,000 mg/kg. The LD50 (median lethal dose) is a measurement of the dose required to kill half the members of a tested population. So if you weigh 68 kg (150 lbs) it would mean you would have to take 68,000 mg of Valium to have a 50% chance of death. That is 6800 pills or more. The other 50% have a higher threshold and it takes MORE. lol.
Benzodiazepines are among the safest drugs due to the fact such VAST amounts are required to cause major medical problems.

To anyone taking Ativan (aka lorazepam): please be aware that this stuff really fucks up your short term memory, in some cases permanently. If you only take it occasionally, you'll probably be OK, but if you take it daily I'd urge you to explore other ways to deal with your anxiety. AND REMEMBER: you can't quit taking lorazepam all at once--that's dangerous. You need to taper-off under the care of a doctor.
Signed: somebody who was prescribed way, way too much lorazepam as a young man, and is now paying the price.

There's a difference between obvs only happening in films, and being less likely and less frequently a reasonable act than in films. Reality is not homogeneous, panic or needs must sets in. Doors can get kicked in or professionally broken. Personal security is picked for their physicality often. To play that role. That bit of the story doesn't seem inordinately implausible to me.

travell mov You do realize it's not abnormal or strange to take a couple extra pills, or drinks, joints, cigs, etc., if one is having a particularly rough night, or having more anxiety than usual, etc. Guaranteed, this was not the first night Chris took more than his prescribed amount. It probably went like this:
Chris: "Rough night, bodyguard man. I need a couple extra pills to put me out for the night"
Bodyguard: "Ok, boss." (hands Chris a couple extra pills for the umpteenth time in their history)
It probably was something pretty cut and dry, dude. I don't see anything even remotely odd about taking an extra benzo or two to end the night, when they're a sedative created for that purpose, as well as for treating anxiety.

I've taken lorazepam for sleep, and taking two would just be like taking two Valium (diazepam), it's not dangerous, perhaps unwise because it's addictive. I suspect he took alcohol (which is dangerous to mix the two, amplifies the effects) and more of the medication himself, or another drug. I'm guessing the reason behind the body guard giving him his meds is to prevent this very occurrence, so I doubt he'd willingly have given Chris more, but I could be wrong.

Robbo Should is the key word. If that happened to my husband, I'd be on the next plane there to be with him and see to it that every possible question was answered. I'd want to hear and SEE the body guard tell his account of what he claimed took place, the bottle, how many were missing and match it to the date of the script. He was calling hotel security and the hotel staff for help with the computer. If Martin Kirsten was, in fact, an official body guard, why the flock would the hotel deny him access to the room to check on Chris?! Why wouldn't his wife have called the hotel to ask for help or details or authorize Kirsten to check on him due to her concerns?... Because they knew Kirste's background. He couldn't pass a background check himself, the psycho is an extortionist, and that's just what's common knowledge. There is murder and murder cover up all over this story, anyone could put that much together. Detroit is notorious for their less than ethical investigations into cause of death and other murder protocols. Hangings are assumed murders at the start anywhere. There are just too many that are found to be murders staged as suicide by hanging. Suicide by hanging is never spontaneously accomplished especially in such circumstances as this. AND, this was no John Doe. Chris Cornell, people#! Get on your knees and beg to uncover every stone in this case. Now his fans are doing it, and they won't stop til the Truth is found and some people are put up on the stand to defend themselves.

What many people don't realize is that depression can affect you, without it being written across your face. The sad thing is, if you happen to go through a depressive period and experience suicidal side-effects from a prescription drug, then that's all you need to commit suicide. You don't need a reason.

You need to educate yourselves about suicide, family members almost always won't admit to the fact that their loved ones committed suicide, because of the shame that is involved with the act, and the regular denial mechanism to the loss, people who commit suicide can seem very happy to people right before they do it, and they don't need to have a real solid objective reason to end their lives, depression can be part of life even if your life seems "objectively" as near perfect.
The fact that in every suicide story you return to reactions from family members, and to the same old statements that the person that committed suicide "seemed" happy, and had no "reason" to end his life, makes you seem very ignorant.

There was no reason that Robin Williams or Philip Seymour Hoffman should have committed suicide either. People aren't sharing everything with everyone. Chris obviously didn't share everything with his wife.

not only does over-dosing of ativan make you suicidal but it will make you do crazy shit that you wouldn't do under normal circumstances - even if you are otherwise "hi" - and not remember it AT ALL. i've seen it in action in friends and family.

from a fan who is following his social statues from every possible portal that i can, he truly looked more depressed than he ever did since he get married and kinda changed his music style at his album "scream". for me, i cant describe my feelings as sad about his death. im truly heartbroken. my eyes still get wet when i think about it, when i first heard it i felt like a lost a part of my life but sadly, i wasnt suprised. i could see him trying to be happy recently but i could also see that he is not. i dont know.. drugs may have effects of what he did to himself but the main reason was not it, i can say that.

I dont too much weed will make me suicidal, but then again thats not technically a drug....side note, how much bs have these pharma companies given us anyways? 99% of there drugs need strictly monitored doses because they have a ridiculous amount of side effects? Im tired of seeing commercials where the say, this drug can cure this, but can also cause (insert 15 other diseases including psychosis)

Anyone who is used to taking Ativan isn't going to have much of a reaction from one extra. I don't recall reading where he said he took too much - only that he took an extra.

If I take too many Ativan, I get sleepy, and usually sleep it off, I don't have many thoughts, only dreams, but I've never been suicidal because of a drug. I would think you have to already be in this mind set, not caused by the drug. I feel like theres a reason they wouldn't open the door, and then Chester was done the same way. Like Randy Quaid, talking about "Star Whackers", but they called him crazy, such a shame.

Big Pharma again, taking another life? But, weed? Oh no, that should be a schedule 1 drug next to heroine. RIP Chris Cornell

A great loss. He pushed himself to the edge way too far this time. His dominating character and talent in the music business can never be replaced, only imitated at best.

You could see the gash in the back of his head during the concert. Something very strange was going on that day. I do not buy the official story.
