Is there a formula for a festive hit melody?

philbestmusic.... Is it even the melody that makes the hit? Is there a set of steps that composers and songwriters follow in order to write a tune that will bring in the royalties, every December, like clockwork?

Iconic Musicians/Artist on the past, know how to write a catchy melody to the point that people will hum
Best Example: Classical Composers, David Foster, Sir Elton John, Freddie Mercury, Billy Joel, The Beatles...
Especially David Foster, he work on singers/band and because of him those singers/band who had work with him, there songs become an iconic hit
And there songs live forever

Thanks! Most song-writers, even those with many hits, would agree that working to a formula does not generate a hit. It's all about the magic!

I always play spontaneously by ear... It's how I play. I read music the same way. I don't decode dots. I see a score and hear it in my head then play what I hear.
