The temperature sensor in our 2003 Lincoln Town Car started acting wonky. There are two sensors, one of which is underneath the intake manifold. So to avoid taking off the entire intake manifold, Tim created his own tool to reach the sensor to swap it out.

Nice, built it yourself, that's a fun project and is a handy wrench. And ur welds are prettier than mine tend to be haha.

    G'day guys.
He's a clever man. Not sure if this is ever going to be a problem for me here in Australia, as we all ride kangaroos, but I'll keep this video in mind if I ever need the hack.
    All the best,
    Daz.

Just drain the system before taking sensor out. Thanks for tip. That thing was placed to be hard to get to. I noticed mine leaking when I changed the alternator. Hidden back behind alternator on purpose.

Nice job. Couldn't have come across your video at a better time. Got the PO code pointing to these sensors and like one comment noted, seems like they locate the sensors in odd/tough locations to keep the dealers in the $$$. Like you I want to get the job done, I've made a few make-shift tools before but your video let me get a few more hours of sleep, Thanks Blue-collar Homestead. Love to out fox the Dealers once in a while.

Hello, So you replaced both sensors it looks like, also the one on the aluminum crossover in top of the manifold just to the left of the alternator? ... I want to change both mine but was wondering are these the same part number and do you need to replace both of them I also have a 2003 model

Hey I changed the easy one that’s on top ,and my temperature gauge still shows cold even if my car been on for hrs ,so I should change the one behind the alternator correct?

I would change it. If it's still running cold mabe the thermostat is stuck open. Just an FYI.
